Calvaryman's Journal (entries began on Part 32) Summer 10, 1099. An army led by Lord Sichanis sat outside the walls of Tyal. “We will rely on our terrain… they should come to us” our leader, Brenin of Inveth said to his officers before the engagement. And as he had predicted, it came to pass. Our archers were arrayed across a slope and firing off into the dusk light, striking enemy skirmishers to get first blood. The southern empire troops were no match for our own, vetted and trained by battle after battle against far worthier foes. The infantry and horse were cut down, periwinkle shields beneath a blue sky. The archers were many, however, and their missiles peppered our ranks as we rushed them in a mad fury, Brenin among them with Crows Beak, slashing, swinging, bowling over imperial bows with his war mount. I myself took two back to back with my spear, lost hold of the shaft, and drew my blade to complete the route, slashing the retreating forms, cleaving cape and helm. After the foe was routed, we returned to our siege of Urikskala Castle. Summer 13, 1099. We had to break our siege once more, as another force had laid siege at Tyal. A larger force this time, and we found the enemy on the same plain as before, bodies and army and blades still remaining, as yet unpicked by the ragged men and looters that roamed this land. Our shafts took the skirmishers by surprise, it seemed, and I saw riders from Khuzait lands, bandits, and Aserai among the imperial numbers. We felt the impacts of being outnumbered by the enemy can, as we could not counter their sallies and feints and charges with the effectiveness us horse prefer. Yet the victory was decisive nonetheless, and their dead were many and our losses few. Summer 13, 1099. In a swamp we overtook the forces of Lord Ulbos. Comprised mostly of archers, the foe met us in terrible terrain for a cavalryman, with too many trees and mud pits and dank pools to count. My destrier is armored against all many of steel but an errant root or hidden mire can cause an ankle break that takes us out just the same. Nonetheless, the slaughter was swift, my Sturgian brethren the stars of the show. Summer 15, 1099. Siege of Vladiv Castle. Our Lord Brenin is in a foul mood these past days. The messengers bring tidings of bumbling strategy by our allied lords, with none other than King Caladog riddled with indecisiveness. The king took over our siege and our Lord Brenin left, causing many of us to wonder at the possible underlying tensions between our commander and his king. Summer 18, 1099. Siege of Urikskala. Will it happen? As we built camp word came the Aserai have broken the treaty and march on our lands. At the same note, word came from recently liberated Tyal that that a rebellion overthrew the Battanian rulers. Lord Brenin fumed, and barked and bit any that dared cross him. Lord Brenin eschewed destroying the walls, choosing swiftness as the priority, as the rest of the empire was in tatters, despite its size and strength. We dismounted our horse and left them with the siege engines, joining the infantry on the ladders to climb the walls of the ragged mountain keep. The militia was slain with little delay, our blades merciless and impatient. Barely had the blood been spilt and we were heading off to Jalmarys, recently claimed by imperial dogs. Autumn 4, 1099. Word arrived to camp that Ortesyia has been seiged by the Aserai. We changed course to defend the city, and enroute, heard that the northern empire has likewise declared war. The mood in camp is tense, foes on all fronts, and poor leadership from our king. We arrived at Ortesia and snuck in through side doors under a rain of missile fire, losing some of our number. The numbers seemed inconceivable, the foe outnumbering us almost 4 to one. I dislike defending castles greatly, as most calvaryman likely do, for we are forced to stand on walls and stay in place, which feels antithetical to the training I’ve received. Our artillery targeted the ram, hoping to prevent a frontal assault. Having destroyed it, our catapults shifted aim and began to fire on the siege tower. Forced to use tall ladders, the tide began to turn in our favor. I watched as missiles rained upon the Aserai helmets, arrows cutting down vulnerable Mamluke Guards and others as they crawled up the ladders. Victory in our hands and my views on defending towns remains the same, albeit slightly improved due to the joy of victory.
When I became a vassal for Vlandia Derthert gave me two castles that were literally between Battania and Sturgia isolated from mainland Vlandia. So whenever war broke out you can guess who was the sucker who had to fight the whole of Sturgia by himself while his villages were being constantly raided from all sides.
"In the war with Southern Empire Brenin was put in charge of the northen front, were the south quickly became a stalemate, Brenin did some of his best military moves yet, taking back Tyal, seizing Urikskala and crushing multiple Imperial army's! But fate had show it's ugly head again." Battanian chronicler early fall.
Hey Apollo, when you take loot after a battle, it always puts it on the bottom of your inventory. You need to resort after taking the items to put them on top. You did get a better shoulder armor at the end of the video, it was just at the bottom.
Can't wait to get up to date wit the series still in the teens but I'm catching up. Keep up the great work Apollo!!!

It certainly seems that you are the only force keeping Battania standing, indeed more nobles urgently need to be recruited to sustain the war effort; I hope peace comes soon so that you can reorganize the kingdom.
yo pixel umm I am not one of those people who likes to share his miseries out loud for sympathy but i genuinely want to appreciate you because i have been struggling with anxiety from the last 2 months as i had a rough break up and i and one of the things i look upto is your bannerlord playthrough its like your voice has an anti anxiety factor. i know i might sound stupid or something but thank you!! Love from india
I'm so glad on my first playthrough i recruited a lot of lords to the point that if an army fell another one shows up again it's like it never ends other factions were like down to like 5k strength and i got almost on 30k strength. all of the factions were at war against me but with much strength i was at ease, it was a war of attrition on who last longer in that war. my war ended when my character died of natural cause.
Perhaps you could hire companions and make them lords by giving them castles that you accept. You can also create the max amount of parties. I was thinking for your next banner Lord playthrough I am not sure if you are going to play with mods but regardless it would be fun if you took on the role of a bandit or tyrant maxing out your rougery skill sacking and pillaging.
I really do wish for an alliance system. I love seeing factions helping each during a siege. For example, you were at warwith the vlandians but so was western empire. They joined in on your siege and it was nice. Instead of world domination, strive for a big alliance you know
If you kill all of the enemy Lords including the king not counting Mercenaries but as soon as you kill them all off whatever territory they hold will belong to your faction
u should watch some videos on bannerlord tactics. For example, you could make shock troops, split your army into four groups. Then you could make a right and left side with a gap in the middle. Right behind the gap, you can put shock troops with axes (Sturgian Linebreaker, Aseria Mamluke Palace Guard, Battanian Veteran Falxman, Vlandian Voulgier, and Imperial Elite Menavilion) that will flank the enemy infantry. See, the enemy infantry will either split into two and attack your right and left (close to the center), concentrate everything into one side of your defense, or charge everything down the middle. If they choose option one, you move your shock troops to the center and give the charge command. They will split and outflank the enemy infantry. If the AI chooses option 2, then you can use your unused flank + the shock troops to encircle the enemy infantry. If they choose option 3, you encircle them with your main line of infantry. Your cavalry should be anti horse archer/cav. When needed, the cav can swoop in from the sides and outflank the enemy infantry after dealing with enemy cav/horse archers. Your archers should stay in the back and continue firing. Make sure to split your army into infantry group 1, infantry group 2, infantry group 3, infantry group 4, infantry group 5 (shock troops), archer group 6, horse archer group 7 (let them skirmish they aren’t very important), and cav group 8. With some adjustments depending on the situation, this should win you battles where you are outnumbered nearly 2 to 1 (if you are lucky and skilled with the micro). *EDIT* *Make sure to put your average infantry in shield wall in combat. Put your average infantry in line formation while moving. NEVER put your men in line while in combat.*
If you want to recruit Empire lords to your faction, just take the Empire lords that have archon in the name prisoner, then you can recruit them if they are unhappy enough with their empire. If not, you can just release them and I believe you still get charm and relation with the clan.
There must be a script that turns on that makes the A.I. of huge factions incredibly complacent. Maybe it's a balancing thing, but I've definitely noticed that after a certain point lords just won't make armies and will let the realm lose territory. It's very frustrating for the player, I've quit playthroughs of this game for that reason.
Apollo you may try to set alliance with other factions such as the khuzaits so that if war breaks out in south then the aserai will be at 2 front wars. (Just suggesting) Again I dont know how the alliance works so please forgive me or correct me if I made a mistake here
Is there a reason when your stood outside the gates of a city you defended int he field and you don't take everything and everyone as soils, pop in the city and sell like a dirty merchant?
I want to install this game, I wanna ask experienced players...where do I start? Seems you can do lots of stuff in this games. I have gotten into medieval era and battle tactics so this calls my attention a lot...LOL
Why did you go up and around through Sturgian Territory to defend Tyal lol?? You would have easily made it if you just went straight there past Argoron along the coast
Please do an episode on recruiting lords or keep a list of all the Leaders of the Clan so after a battle you can try to persuade them instead of not knowing whose who The releasing of lords pains me😅

Love these narrator comments great work🎉
@@ivozwaag6348 Thanks!
When you were firing the catapult at the ram and seige engine i was sweating. Great video. More like this please 😃❤️

It sucks seeing apollo not upgrade his gear, its too vital for his survivability
If this ever ends, I need to find something new in life 😅

"just gotta take this one slow.. and ooo my riding skill went up"
That's what she said
Make your companions lords, and then go get more companions
"Ortysia attacked by over 20K Aserai troops, and only 1K defenders overall."
Let's GOOO! Another amazing playthrough so far. Loving the videos man, keep it up ❤😊
What is the future of the Battanian Empire? Nobody can predict it...
Can't wait to get up to date wit the series still in the teens but I'm catching up. Keep up the great work Apollo!!!

Yooo Apallo!!! Loving this play through! Looking forward to the next stream
Rememeber each lord can only have so many men in their army, you probably have the most of any by twice the amount. You need more lords period

recruit those northern empire lords and give them back their crappy castles.
that yell at 35:38. Someone sample that and put it in a game.
You know, I think that city wouldn't have rebelled if you just took those free troops and put them there.
Perhaps you could hire companions and make them lords by giving them castles that you accept. You can also create the max amount of parties.

Can you add the mod you had in the beginning of the series if possible please? @Pixelated Apollo
I wanted them back too
I was a good mod but he has to wait for it to be updated 😢
That sucks but I'm sure he'll put them back when the moders update the modes😊
54:09 “everybody else can go. I don’t care”. Casually throws away selling 1000+ troops while already in a city. 😭
Singing sweet home Alabama in a swamp is accurate
Apollo I think you should make an eposode of recurting lords because It's a bit problem to hold the territories....
When you win a big battle take the leaders as prisoners and check for a clan leader and then talk to them about joining
Loved waching the stream. Can't what till I can cath one live!
4:52 LOL Caladog
The other armies have no influence points so they break up quick. You can actually give them some in the clan menu if I remember right.
If you kill all of the enemy Lords including the king not counting Mercenaries but as soon as you kill them all off whatever territory they hold will belong to your faction
Did you try to give away towns to your companions so they become lords?

Send some of your companions to make their own clans
love your vids! keep going and never stop
Imagine if brenin counquer all of calradia and then rebel against batania😮
Go Apollo go!!!!
Love the series ❤❤❤
I have a bunch of sturgeon linebackers in my army. I’m sure they don’t use their weapons. They just headbut the enemy to death 😳
Airborne lead the way? Nah, Apollo leads the way.

how old is brenin and the companions
After this can u please try the Japanese mod that Jackie fish talked about not to long ago it would be epic
Slip your cav before u start the battle
Apollo you should make another the mod Europe 1100 I mean its a great mod and their is not many people play it
Please do an episode on recruiting lords or keep a list of all the Leaders of the Clan so after a battle you can try to persuade them instead of not knowing whose who
