Another great Thang about capacitors in general is as long as the circuit is energized they can hold their full capacitance without having to recharge, but can also release as soon as it is needed. Also if you have seriously sensitive circuitry a capacitor can hold it's energy after the circuit is opened letting the components slowly stop instead stopping immediately which can be taxing on the durability.

Supercapacitor were the best bang for the buck electrical upgrade I did...along with the 400amp alt. of course

'and my answer is yes', that made me laugh ha ha.

I was under the impression that super capacitors have a high self-discharge. that if you threw fully charged one in a closet it would loose charge quickly.

Simple fix, switch bulbs to LEDs.

very true, but that doesn't solve the underlying issue, which is the voltage drop...and DIP IN BASS..

So how do you package that for installation in your car? You would need some sort of container, right?

yea, or at least mounted in such a way no metal could get to it, also consider what would happen in a crash. it would need to be isolated.

If I have an 85amp alt.
Can I manage to run a 3k amp with a massive superbank without upgrading the alt?
OR would the recharge just be too slow?

massive is the key, and you will still need down time to recharge. the more you can store, the longer you can bang, but also the more time youll need to rest it.

Curious question? Why would you not put a normal capacitor on a bass amp?

oh you can, but its a total waste of money. it'd be like hunter Deer with a daisy Rider BB gun

      @@CarAudioEnthusiasts 😆 good analogy

It might take some electronics knowledge but, caps act kinda like a water tower. The kind of cap material important as it changes the content of the can. Older 1 Faraday caps were electrolyte based. Very low capacity relative to these shown here. What's important is the voltage and Faraday rating for DC current.

I need 25k watts for the subs in my icon. What amp do you recommend and im gonna run only caps, no alt or sup bat. How many maxwell caps do you think it will take if my goal is full 25k watts for a burp spl

    • @lowhertzhighspl
      @lowhertzhighspl 5 місяців тому

You need a high output alt to charge them unless you plan on charging at home before every event. They are simply storage devices that need charged by an adequate alt.

@@lowhertzhighspl hes talking about a burp, witch is a few seconds. then its parked for maybe an hour till the next round

bro, that's a bit outta my league, but you need a lot. message tyler at GP car audio with that question, he can give/get accurate info on those power needs. id be guessing.
