      A real shame more aren’t flying! I saw this crop up a few times in and out of Cambridge over the past few years. Looks like the service has been cut right back now with even Manchester dropped.

    Reminds me of a twin engined BAe146 - I used to fly regularly in Germany years ago in a twin prop very square bodied Dornier, a 228 I think, the pilot was separated from the cabin by a sliding door which was invariably left open in those days - you could literally tap the pilot on the shoulder when in the front seats.

    Annoyingly I didn't get a notification of your new video last week so I'm only seeing it now. In terms of service it's like the good old days of flying. So nice that the flight attendant announced she had the pleasure of looking after your safety and comfort. The Dornier 328 is a nice aircraft- I flew Dundee-London City a few times onboard Scot Airways Dornier 328 Turboprop before they were bought by Loganair.

      I’ve had a few people say this. UA-cam being UA-cam I guess but glad the video still popped up somewhere you could see it! Was the turbo prop version much different to the jet?

    Awww...pops is having a grand time. I agree, good use of Avios points - the higher the cash fare the better the redemption value of Avios. Food is definitely more than what you used to get on BA mainline back in the days of complimentary catering. Thank you for sharing a lovely trip report. Imagine flying from LCY airport to SYD, Australia on that. I reckon you'd make at least 20 stops along the way (10,500 miles ÷ 20 = 525 miles per average sector) taking approx 51hrs including time on the ground ❤

    • @JTsJourneys

    The plane doesn’t have or need thrust reversers, the relative lightness and full flap landing speed is slow enough for the manual brakes. Great video btw and happy belated birthday and enjoy your retirement to your dad.

      Billund is a small Danish town of about 7,000 people. It is the town where LEGO was founded. The main LEGO headquarters are still there, along with the first LEGO-Land as well as a new tourist attraction called LEGO House. Billund Airport was founded by LEGO in the 1960s as a private airport for their business jets, but later became a public airport that is now Denmark's second-biggest.

    • @JTsJourneys

    • @colinmacdonald5732
      @colinmacdonald5732 3 місяці тому

      They did. At it's opening they used car headlights as runway lights. It's basically the airport for Jutland, and very centrally located for Jutland. Has gradually taken over from nearby Esbjerg, I've flown into both. Give you an idea of how quiet Esbjerg has become, I remember being woken by check-in staff when the Aberdeen check in opened, having fallen asleep. Maybe only two other flights that day and there were only about 10 people in the Terminal. Billund by contrast is quite a major international airport.

    • @MeetConservatives
      @MeetConservatives 3 місяці тому

      @@colinmacdonald5732 I wouldn't say it's the "airport for Jutland". There are at least three or four additional international airports in Jutland (Aalborg, Midtjylland, Aarhus) with daily flights to several countries.

    6:08 assuming this is one way? So £41+£95 (9500 avios) = £136 for a return
    Assuming that comes with a cabin sized bag too?
    Taking into account LCY may be a cheaper and easier airport for you to get to, and is a fun niche experience it really is decent value!
    Assuming that price is available on lots of dates too.
    You can probably get a £20-£30 one way or £60 return on ryanair, on select dates at wacky times of day months before booking, but add cabin bags (if for more than a few days), a drink/snack on board, a return coach/stansted express/parking/cab you're probably not saving much at all, good to know!

    • @JTsJourneys
      @JTsJourneys  3 місяці тому +1

      Yes all one way and includes a cabin bag and laptop bag. I thought it was good value, certainly worth it for the novelty factor of getting to fly onboard this aircraft. I flew back into Heathrow later that day for around £100, Ryanair were only £15 but the hassle of Stansted to South London really isn't worth the saving!
