Yes, I did. And loved it! I cosplayed as Skyward Sword Zelda for Halloween with my boyfriend this year (he was Link). Ghirahim is my favorite video game character of all time. He is really an underrated character. For so many, he’s a villain we love to hate. I wish Skyward Sword got the praise it deserved. I don’t play games for the gameplay, I play them for the story, and Skyward Sword delivered heavily. And the music! The music was amazing! Skyward Sword is mostly known for having the two worst bosses in the series, but in reality, it has the two best too. I absolutely love Skyward Sword and was ecstatic when I saw this video. Keep up the amazing work, Bandit! We love you!
With that in mind, I imagine the Lanayru desert eventually got renamed to the Gerudo desert. So Skyward Sword Link is the reason why the Gerudo have to suffer in the future. But that's just a theory maybe.
I love this. It goes with the theory how any time Link travels through time he potentially causes unimaginable harm. Like with OoT and Link causing Bongo Bongo to be freed from the well when he drained it as a kid.
The theory about Demise and Hylia at the end was beautifully worded. Honestly it's even more heartbreaking that Demise's angry and hatred would continue for eons, dooming any incarnation of him to be destined for the same fate he suffered. Makes me even more excited to see what Tears of the Kingdom has in stored.
it would also mean that Demise can never be defeated. How do you defeat that which balances out the universe? It'd make the universe (Hyrule) incomplete
I definitely agree. It also plays into Ganondorf's resignation and resentment at the "endless cycle" of reincarnation he, Link, and Zelda are stuck in in Wind Waker. He is completely aware that regardless of what happens to him, he will never be at peace, because his/Demise's spirit will always come back just to be defeated once again.
Tantalus's punishment is actually worse than what you described. The apple and water would rise and lower respectively when he reached for one or the other. It wasn't just simply out of reach. So if he reached for the apple, the apple would rise out of reach and the water would rise as well. As he turned to drink, the water would lower and so would the apple.

I really wish that the final boss of the sandship had been... Scervo the mutinous pirate again. However this time he's in his prime and isn't a couple thousand years old, explaining why he's tougher and fights differently. At the end of the fight he wouldn't die, he can't because you kill him in the future, but you do get him off the ship somehow. They could even have him say something like "I never thought to see you again" when you fight him the "first" time and kill him as a miniboss.
Sounds like an interaction you could build an entire plot around, you fight bosses during the first half that clearly recognize you and kill/destroy them to progress, then around halfway through the game you have to travel back and fight them in their prime to gather items/materials required to deal with the final boss that will arrive in the future with the stronger past versions surviving but weakened in the encounter and plotting to summon/create the final boss as a plan to get revenge on their mutual enemy.
in the Japanese version was even a mention of a Demon Tribe and a God Tribe and so on, and in Spirit Tracks we know of the Existance of a Demon Realm where Link and Zelda and their allies drove with the Train of the Spirits to confront Malladus, so maybe Demise might have originated from an interdimensional Hell or something
This description of evil stemming from negative emotions of one's past, sounds allot like Wind Waker's Ganondorf, who speaks of a similar sense in the end of the game. I forget what was his actual words, but he seemed to be feeling a great feeling of loss of what happened when the goddesses made the decision to flood the world, since their fated hero, Link, was completely removed from the timeline after Ocarina of Time. It's technically all Princess Zelda's fault why the "Adult Timeline" lacked the actual Link who had reincarnated in times of Hyrule's need time and time again. And because of that, so many lives were lost because of the goddesses flooding Hyrule. The only reason we have a Link in the Adult Timeline at all after Wind Waker and Phantom Hourglass, is because the goddesses saw great potential in the Link from Wind Waker, and used his spirit as a substitute for the actual hero's spirit who originated in Skyward Sword. Wind Waker Link was not a reincarnation of Skyward Sword Link, he was merely an ordinary kid who just happened to have the same name of the hero of legend that always came in Hyrule hour of need of a hero, and just happened to become someone to save Hyrule after he needed to rescue his sister. And speaking of Link having siblings, you know how no other Zelda game's incarnation of Link, is seen to have a sibling? I feel like Wind Waker Link's sister Aryll even existing, is proof he's not a reincarnation of the fated hero Link, as literally no other Link to this date is known to have any siblings except Wind Waker Link.
I'm not 100% sure about the canonicity of this, but doesn't Breath of the Wild Link have a younger sister as well? There's a picture of him with his father and younger sister in the art book
Hey Bandit, just wanted say that I recently found you, Hyrule Gamer, NintendoBlackCrisis, and Zeltik; and I don't think I can ever express enough how grateful I am for all of the work you all have put into your channels. As someone who deals with severe anxiety and depression, knowing that I can just throw on one of your guys playlists to relax and listen to while I fall asleep has helped so much. I love the collaborative effort you guys have for this franchise, and I hope you know (and can maybe pass along to all of them) if anything, you've helped this guy finally get a few calm nights sleep. I think that Demise's drive to destroy Hylia and her descendants comes from what WW Ganondorf said: coveting what she and her descendants had (I know that he mentioned the wind, but I cand totally see that as an analogy instead of the wind itself): happiness, joy, peace, abundance, and so on.
Demise is a very tricky part of the lore to try and explain. I can see and understand why people would say he could be from lorule, but personally i just cant see how or why that would be the case. Lorule had its own triforce, and it wasnt demise that destroyed it but hilda's family. So if he's from the start of the lorulean timeline, it wouldnt make sense for him to go after the hyrulean triforce since he had his own (which he apparently just leaves behind?). On the other hand though, if he's from after they destroyed their triforce, i cant see how a god-like demon would originate in lorule, he's clearly not the lorule hero since that'd be ravio, and also he's a god level demon king! From everything i can see, it just wouldnt make logical sense for him to come from lorule so i would probably dismiss the inverted triforce as "i just wanna be opposite to hylia", but they were working on albw at the same time as SS... Very confusing As for where he came from, if we dismiss lorule as an option then i can actually answer that! There is actually another realm mentioned throughout the zelda series called the "dark realm". Now this ISNT the same as the dark world (as that's just a corrupted sacred realm). The dark realm is the origin of all demons, its the place you visit in spirit tracks and it kinda looks like an endless black ocean with a black hole for a sun. It'd actually be more fitting to rename it the demon realm instead. It'd make WAY more sense to say demise is like the hylia of the demon realm and thats where he came from Now i still havnt figured out if the demon realm is supposed to be another layer on the main realm (like the sacred realm), or if its a separate realm altogether like lorule is to hyrule. Ie i cant figure out if lorule would have its own demon realm, or if all demons from all universes would come from the same demon realm. Though thinking about it, the fact demise invades through a crack suggests it is separate like lorule. Infact i actually have another theory to add onto this, you see the only other time the dark realm is mentioned is during the oracle games, its where twinrova summoned onox and veran from. So if it is its own separate realm, then it'd be logical to say it has its own perhaps dark triforce. And i like to think thats the real origin of twinrova's dark rites ritual. So the demons could have the triforce pieces of destruction, sorrow and despair Ohh and as for ghirahim, i've got another very interesting theory on him as i believe i may have found where he went after SS. Further on in the timeline you learn about how ganon gets his signature trident of power from inside a large pyramid. A trident thats all black with a red gem, that some lines claim has an evil spirit inside it, and zelda herself calls it "the sign of the ancient demon reborn". I believe that after SS and his master was gone, ghirahim transformed into the trident of power and went dormant until his master's curse kicked in and ganon claimed him
I think it makes perfect sense for Demise to be the dark (perhaps even Lorulean) equivalent to Hylia for a few reasons. 1. Hylia is all but confirmed to be the Goddess of Time, whereas Demise is referred to as "the one who conquered time itself". 2. Considering the Golden Goddesses also crafted the metaphysical laws of reality, there would need to be a deity or some manifestation of the concept of evil or darkness. On the surface, it might fall in line with Judeo-Christian concepts of the devil, but it might actually be inspired by the concept of 'heavenly/divine evil spirits' that seek to contradict and upend the order of things as dictated by the kami in Shinto mythology. And we know the Zelda series has drawn inspiration from both (more the latter than the former since it IS a Japanese game franchise). And 3. Thematically speaking, the notion that Demise fulfilled his own prophecy aligns with the story of his main successor: Ganondorf. By times of both Wind Waker and Twilight Princess in the timeline, Ganondorf shows that he's privy to the machinations of the gods, and carries out his goal accordingly. In the Adult Timeline, he explicitly blames the gods for destroying Hyrule as a response to his escape from the void, and only seeks to make them answer his call to resurrect the kingdom under his control. In the Child Timeline, he credits the gods for choosing him to be a wielder of power, leading him to believe he's the rightful ruler of light and shadow. Furthermore, he alludes to the idea of a neverending cycle in the expanded version of his dying monologue (which is retroactively confirmed with Demise's curse).
Some problems with your theory: 1. Hylia isn't confirmed to be the Goddess of Time. Why would the title only be mentioned in one game, and never directly given to her? We know there's other goddesses, mostly shown for Gerudo worship like in the Light Temple in OoT, so why would one game mentioning a Goddess of Time while other games mention Hylia specifically mean that Hylia is the Goddess of Time? If that was the case, I think it would have been confirmed by now, especially in BotW or the MM remake. 2. Even if she is the Goddess of Time, calling Demise "the one that conquered time" isn't quite the same thing as a title. That's like saying Arachne was the Goddess of Weaving just because she was the best weaver, and that sort of proclamation got her turned into a spider (indirectly, but still). Being "the one that conquered time" doesn't make him a god. 3. If he's a god, he's one stupid god. It is stated that no god or goddess can use the power of the Triforce, thus why Hylia had to stop being a goddess for her plan, so her descendant could use the Triforce to stop Demise. If Demise was a god, that not only means he's too stupid to realize he can't even use the Triforce, but also that Hylia isn't smart enough to realize his plan was doomed from the start, that he couldn't even use it. Besides, "the one that conquered time" could also be literal, if you do assume Hylia is the Goddess of Time, since he did effectively defeat her, as he got sealed away, but she sacrificed herself to do so. 4. Demise is the King of Demons. Why would they give him that title if he was a god instead? 5. Of course Ganondorf would mention the gods in those situations. They are not unknown beings in that world. The story of the goddesses is well known, including then making the Triforce, and the existence of the Triforce is well known, or was at one point when Ganondorf first appeared (the war prior to OoT). When gods and goddesses are known to exist, why wouldn't he blame them for the harsh conditions the Gerudo live in, especially when the people that lived better are quite literally named after a Goddess, and are known as her chosen people. People blame God for stuff like that in the real world, and there's no undeniable evidence of His existence like the Triforce. Same with him being chosen by the gods because he has the Triforce of Power. It is literally an artifact made by the Golden Goddesses, at one point known by everyone to exist and everyone at least knowing the legends of it and it's association with them. So when he has a piece of an artifact made by the Golden Goddesses, a piece that directly represents one of them, why would he not consider himself chosen by the gods? "Oh hey, I have a piece of ultimate power that has granted me incredible power and protected my life, made by the goddesses themselves. What a coincidence." It would be common sense. 6. As for the cycle he mentions, you don't think there's legends of what happened that he may have heard about? Or that maybe he didn't mean it like that, but specifically referring to the fact that he was stopped by the Hero of Time, wielder of the Triforce of Courage, then again after transforming thanks to Princess Zelda, wielder of the Triforce of Wisdom, only to now be facing people with the same names and wielding the same pieces once again? Or maybe, having the Triforce of Power and being an incarnation of Denise's hatred, is it not possible that Demise, whom was sealed and not killed, may have found a way to talk to him? All of this becomes even worse if you think he's her Lorulean equivalent (by name alone that doesn't work. It's Hyrule because it's Hylia's chosen people, so wouldn't Lorule be Lolia's chosen people?). Her equivalent? No. Just a power hungry demon.
@@Kahadi you bringing up God and whether he exists or not is pretty useless to your argument. It honestly distracts more then it adds. Secondly, you would be right about no undeniable evidence, but let me remind you evolution has thousands of pieces of minor evidence that can be seen as supporting other things on its own, it's still a theory, so even when something is considered unknown or known, it rarely is. Especially when reason can't prove something like was once thought and empirical evidence to prove something that is usually seen as beyond the scope is study is seen, such as trying to test for an afterlife and saying you didint find it and so it must not exist but in reality you cant test it but that dosent mean its not real, we couldnt do tests of antimatter or black holes but we still believed it existed. On to the actual argument though, demons being gods is actually common in polytheism. In the Buddhism schools on Japan, the king of sixth Heaven, a god by all accounts, is seen as a demon and associated by missionaries at the time with the devil and evil, even obunaga made the association. Raijin and Fujin are both gods and oni, a form of demon. Heck, runaway gods fighting other gods as a from of rebellion is a major part of Greek mythology. On other issues, I have none. Your arguments work and you seem to shut down the ide aof him being a god.
Skyward Sword has been my favorite Zelda game of all time and I was pretty upset when I found out that people didn't like the game, or its motion controls. The motion controls and bosses were pretty good and the map worked very well in my opinion.
I feel the same way! I loved zelda games prior, but that one made me feel like a hero with the motion controls. Plus I played it during my "golden" summer I had during my tween years. The soundtrack is so beautiful. The graphics of everything looking water colored???? I fell so in love with it. I recently got it for the switch and using the controllers for motion plus made me feel so happy again. It's one of the best zelda games to me, I'll never forget wanting to live on Skyloft.
@@RiteOfSolaris Oh totally! It felt like every area of the game had the details with even just such minor things. All the little islands in the sky, the trees, the buildings on Skyloft, and even the items we carry and the clothes of each character. I loved the Lanaryu area as a whole, especially the Sand Sea and the ship, Zipper's hideout. I just love all the small visual details that they just really fleshed out. With it being so bright, it was like every detail was just so well highlighted in its own way. It's nice to meet a fellow fan of Skyward Sword, I feel like everyone else is sleeping on this one in the series. Plus the lore of it being the first in the timeline??? I feel like that brings some level of coolness to it, even if the motion controls aren't everyone's cup of tea.

Depending on what you mean by stalfos, they may or may not be in every game. BOTW has a ton of stal- enemies, but there are technically no "Stalfos", as none of them are humanoid. But that's really getting into semantics...
“Easily forgettable” man I liked the bilocyte fight and honestly wish it were longer and maybe harder. They really had something going with a dead man’s volley in which you could aim
Some more information about Demise and Ghirahim: In the Japanese version Ghirahim calls himself the current demon tribe chieftain instead of Demon lord, demon tribe chief is one of Demise's titles so Ghirahim pretty much took over his Master's job during his absence. Demise's hatred is the curse of the demon tribe. He has a hatred towards the gods' tribe(members of this tribe can't use the Triforce and some of it's members are guardian deities, Hylia and the Golden goddesses, this explains why certain godlike beings can use the Triforce because they aren't members of the Gods' tribe). His curse is not about him getting reincarnated in the future("I will rise again" is something the localization added, "this will happen again" or "this will be repeated" or" I shall repeat it" are what he says in Japanese, while Demise bears a physical resemblance to Ganondorf there isn't anything in the text that implies that he is a literal reincarnation of Demise) and it's a bit more metaphorical: the wording of Demise's final words suggests that the curse existed long before his defeat, Demise explains that there will be people in the future who embody his hatred and grudge(the hatred is reincarnated but Demise has no influence or control over the "reincarnations" because he got sealed/sealed and decayed within the Master sword(Impa dies peacefully in the present after fullfilling her duty which could imply that Demise is fully dead)), they are incarnations, spiritual successors of Demise, they aren't born as incarnations but they become incarnations through their actions, feelings and desires as the Demise's hate is also the curse of the demon tribe) and that those who possess the soul of the hero and the blood of the goddess are bound to the curse(most likely due to their roles as protectors, because of Link, Hylia and Zelda's actions against Demise and the demon tribe they caused themselves and their successors to be bound to the curse. Demise himself doesn't seem to have cast a literal magical spell on them and the curse is rather on the demon tribe itself(the battle against the demon tribe will go on forever), Ganondorf in Wind waker was aware of a cycle between him, Link and Zelda and wanted to end it however the desire to end the cycle was also present in Ghirahim so it's only natural that evil want to end it because evil doesn't want to keep fighting obstacles between it and world domination or world destruction depending on the evil entity's state of mind). The curse and the hatred aren't sentient either despite what some people believe.
Some of this is not true. The Japanese version states that he's an absolute being and that he's overcome/conquered time, too. It isn't just the localisation; that's directly from the Japanese. And you state that his hatred doesn't reincarnate... this is also false. Both Japanese and English explicitly stated that his hatred and malice reincarnate. That's certainly _not_ poetic. The demon tribe's curse is the cycle of reincarnation that Demise directly references: _It is born anew in a cycle with no end._ _it draws an endless cycle of death and rebirth._

@@carljohansson3512 I'm fluent in Japanese and I can tell you that the second translation is more accurate than the first. That first translation ignores a lot of necessary wording. A quote/interpretation from a UA-camr isn't satisfactory evidence, btw. 越え translates to transcending//conquering/exceeding/overcoming time itself. That doesn't really indicate being "timeless". Also, in all interpretations of the concept of reincarnation, the entity is born as a reincarnation. Zelda borrows heavily from Buddhism. You don't "become" a reincarnation over time in Buddhism.
@@slopernafti902I'm not fully convinced. For context here is the rest of the conversation on the Zelda subreddit's Discord server's Lore and timelines channel that lead to the the new translation(the old one was made by Yamikawa/Sidier or Loruleanhistorian) being used there(if you still have a problem with the new translation I think you'll have to argue in the discord server. If truly are fluent in Japanese maybe you could share your knowledge there): (July 2021) Rinkuto: Someone put verbs that weren’t even there. I don’t even know why time is written with a capital T, as well as why evil is quoted… X:"timeless and absolute entity" what does that even mean? Rinkuto:You don’t know what timeless means lol? Baro:That he's old as hell. X:no, "absolute" Rinkuto:The only thing related to time in this quote is the expression "Toki o toe", which means "over time, timeless" etc X:my question was more pertaining to what is meant by "absolute" Rinkuto:I don’t see where the translators even saw the "it continues to be" Baro:Rinkuto, do you have some doc where you collect your translations or something? Rinkuto:Absolute in the sense of all mighty, overwhelming, etc Rinkuto:No lol (reply to Baro's doc question) Rinkuto:Sometimes I just translate when needed to fact check. If the localization is good, then I don’t save the translation. X:is there a better translation for it than absolute? because that word carries other meanings that could lead people to think he exists beyond the rules of regular time Rinkuto:And JPN is also a complexe language, so translations can vary. I feel like it’s better to translate multiple times one quote. So I might have had translated one quote, forgot to save it. Then when needed again, I translate it again. (End of conversation) The Zelda series isn't just Buddhist but also Shintoist, in Shintoism Reincarnation functions differently. I think Rinkuto said something about the curse and Asuras and Devas. Demise's death looks more like it would prevent him from reincarnating: He never says he will rise again in Japanese, his residual consciousness is absorbed into the Master sword where it begins to decay, Impa's duty is now to guard the Master sword to ensure that Demise is fully eradicated, in the present Impa dies peacefully after fullfilling her duty. Demise's final words sounds more like he knew that he wouldn't be able to come back from that, Ganondorf in comparison when he shouts his curse upon getting sealed in OOT knows he will be back.
@@carljohansson3512 If you're not fully convinced about what's established canon, directly from the original language with accurate official and fan translations, I don't really know what to say apart from that you're choosing to ignore it and supporting something that you just like to believe, despite it being false XD. The Yamikawa translation only adds 2 unnecessary things: "totally" and speech marks around "evil". Their inclusion is not good criticism. The fact it says he overcame time proves that it's more accurate than the one you reference. If you're still not convinced about that, I don't know what to say 🤣. The other translation blatantly ignores some words/it's purely based on the translator's interpretation of the JP text instead of being a faithful translation like the official English and the Yamikawa translation. Sometimes, the translator needs to interpret the text, but that isn't the case here. I never said that Demise reincarnates. I'm saying his *hatred/malice* reincarnates. That's directly stated in literally every version of the game in every language. In addition, reincarnation isn't a thing in Shintoism... at all. It's in Buddhism and Hinduism. Zelda takes the idea of reincarnation directly from Hinduism and Buddhism. To add on to that, Asuras and Devas are completely irrelevant to this topic of Demise. I don't know why he brought that up. That translation you reference is too simple and ignores the fact it's saying that he exceeds time or "overcomes/conquers it". The interpretation that it's saying he's "timeless" is not explicitly stated in the Japanese. The translation by LoruleanHistorian and Yamikawa and the official English translation reflect the original Japanese much more accurately. To summarise, it's obvious that reincarnation is directly implied in every language regardless of the absence of "I will rise again" in the JP. His hatred and malice still reincarnate as he directly says that exact thing. Also he is directly stated to overcome/"conquer" time in the Japanese *and* English. Like... the Japanese term for that is specifically used (越え). There's nothing poetic about that. It literally says that he's conquered time in the sense that he is above it.
Maybe the goddesses GAVE Demise the knowledge and awareness that he was created to he evil so he would become evil. Just enough knowledge for him to question himself and why, but not enough to ever know the answer, thus brining out the hatred in him. Maybe hylia and demise were created the same, but one was made to have no hatred, and one was made to bring it out
Protip: If a character has the same Japanese name, the you have a official pronunciation. You just need to check how it’s written (pronounced) in Japanese. In this case Fi is pronounced “Fai” as in rhymes with “why” (Helpful when pronouncing Pokémon too, it’s how I realized I was saying Suicune horribly wrong)
2:37 I always thought that the LD stood for “Lanaryu Dragon”. It makes way more sense than “Lanaryu Desert” since all the robots came from Lanaryu (the Dragon deity thing) and work for him.
Another possibility is "Lanayru Digsite", since it's clear that the entire purpose of the robots was the extraction and management of time stones in the area.
A thought on the Tentalus battle; as Tentalus is alive in the past, shutting off the time stone would cause them to turn to a pile of bones. That would show wisdom and prove Link worthy of that piece of the Triforce, maybe? Buuuuut it would probably be less fun than continually maiming, temporarily blinding and lacerating it!
Good video, I think I can add some nuance to the end bit. Demise isnt the personification of evil, hes the personification of the injustices inherent in a world abandoned by gods. Fi is the Kingseeker Frampt of the Zelda franchise, shes there to guide Link to Demise, guiding Demise's eternal and justified anger towards Link instead of Hylia. Hylia isnt the personification of good, shes capable of morally gray actions, so logically she must be 'all', and if she's all, then it makes perfect sense for Demise to be 'Nothing'. After all, Ganondorf is often depicted as starting off as a thief or lowlife, who eventually makes his way up to the very top, pursuing royalty. The same way Demise, following this logic, is 'Nothing' pursuing 'All'. Basically, Hylia is potentially the source for all good and bad things, and is just as much of a villain as she is a good force in the world, and has manipulated Link and Ganondorf into fighting eachother instead of her. After all, in all timelines, regardless of if Ganondorf or Link suceed, neither of them seem to truly win, because the problem still persists. Hylia.
I remember reading a oceanic cryptid book a long time ago that included a few pages about a cryptid that looked a lot like Tentalus. I think it was a cryptid from a very specific region and it's translation to English was something like "sea dog" or "salty dog" if I remember right.
Awesome video Bandit. My first time playing Skyward Sword was on stream when it released a couple years ago on the switch and it was really good! You did forget one thing about Scaldera though. He's hot for Ghirahim.....
For some reason, I recall the demons in Skyward Sword being a sort of "Before there was time, before there was anything, there was nothing, and before there was nothing, there were monsters" deal. Figure I could have misunderstood it, though.
I wonder if the robot names are actually updated by Fi. Fi would be familiar to them. The thing is I don't know if any of the robots say their own or another's name.
super solid theory for Demise. since your reasoning can be so easily inferred, it makes me think yours is possibly the intended explanation. good work as always dude, keep it up.
I subbed yesterday to your channel, and today, while I'm busy working I've been listening to you talk about Zelda and it's making my day amazing. I will never unsub if your content at least matches this quality in the future. Thanks for all the work you do researching Zelda so we don't have to.
Ghirahim is a rejected theatre kid and you cannot change my mind. The dramatics. The dance at the end. The outfit. I also love Koloktos. I couldn't tell you why.
There is no such thing as a necessary evil. A defining feature of evil is that it is what you do not need. You need direction in life , evil is one factor of three. Like the good , the bad , and the ugly. There is good , evil , and existence. (tri-force?)
Started watching these a few weeks back and keep throwing them on. Great content to listen to while doing things and taking care of my son. Keep up the great 👍
Shūen-no mono (Demise's JP name) actually translates to "Person of demise" (i just checked for myself) btw his Spanish name is "Heraldo de la muerte" or Herald of death (so it basically means "Messenger of upcoming death") Btw really cool video !!
I wanna do you one better with that Demise theory: Yes he was aware of his fate and that awareness is exactly what made him so angry and spiteful... but maybe that awareness was *by design*. As in, the ones who made him and Hylia together made him aware BECAUSE it would cause him to hate them.
I wonder if Malice makes for a plausible explanation for why Hyrule appears relatively technologically stagnant over 10's of thousands of years. Every time a society progresses to create working machinery, it's corrupted by malice, so to protect themselves, they've created stigmas and taboos against moving devices that can be corrupted.
What if LD in the names of the robots doesn’t stand for Lanayru Desert, but rather Lanayru Designated? As in, designated or assigned to the Lanayru region?
That Demise stuff was really great! And since the Zelda series has such a strong theme of mirrors (worlds as in Termina, Twilight, and Lorule), I think it's a really great theory.
To add to the theory that Demise is self-aware of his own existence intended to fail and lose, the same could be said of Ganondorf. He never asked to be born of the curse that pursues the blood of the goddess and the spirit of the hero. We know he genuinely cared for his people, but he was created to be hateful and evil. Truly tragic.
As time goes by, I sympathize with the "evil" in this series more and more. The theory at the end really made me feel sad for Demise, and by extension, Ganondorf. Bro just wanted a decent life for his people...
Tentallus pisses me off. This ship has all these tentacles sinking it, you've got to sprint out of it or get brought down with it, it's all intense... then it's revealed to be Monster's Inc.
I remember the first time I was playing the game. I was running down those corridors, cutting the tentacles dodging barrels and thinking "Whatever is sinking this ship must be one tough beast! What could be out there?!" I had to pause the game for at least five minutes after I walked out the door, and what looked like Mike and Celia's love child popped up out of the sea because I was laughing so hard! I couldn't take the fight seriously after that, and easily slew that joke of a boss!

Tantalus i always thought was inspired by the famous D&D monster known as The Beholder. Also about that theory at the end with Demise and Hylia, the more i think about it you might be on to something there, but perhaps it's more accurate to say Hylia is the Goddess of Time and Light and Demise is the god of Darkness and Eternity. It might actually explain the curse without end as not being of demise himself but a natural consequence of the balance being destroyed. Like Rava and Vatu in the Avatar series, one simply cannot exist without the other so if one is destroyed then they are reborn again in a cycle without end. It might even explain the necessity of Hylia to be reborn as a mortal in the form of Zelda, to rebalance the scale and diminish both their powers so that Demise couldn't break free of his prison. Quick addition there too is i look at the power structure of the gods in Zelda lore to be very similar to the Greek pantheon, where you have Titans, gods and Demi gods. In this case Nayru, Din and Farore are titans that created the universe, Hylia and Demise are gods that watch over that universe and you would have Demi gods, like The Deku Tree, Jabbu Jabbu from Ocarina of Time, The 3 dragons from Skyward sword OR BOTW, or the light spirits from Twilight Princess that serve the light. Death Sword from Twilight princess or Bongo Bongo from Ocarina of time or Ghoma in any incarnation that serve the dark.

Did you play Skyward Sword? Such an underrated game IMO
Yes ofc I just didn’t like the mines
Hell yeah, I did!
It is underrated yeah.
TP is also a bit underrated.
Yea i played it
Imagine that the reason why the Ancient Sea dried up is because Link killed Tentalus in the past who brought the rain with it.
With that in mind, I imagine the Lanayru desert eventually got renamed to the Gerudo desert. So Skyward Sword Link is the reason why the Gerudo have to suffer in the future. But that's just a theory maybe.
@@yanselalmodovar918 A GAME THEORY-
Sorry couldn't help myself.
That's actually too smart. I never thought of that.
I love this. It goes with the theory how any time Link travels through time he potentially causes unimaginable harm. Like with OoT and Link causing Bongo Bongo to be freed from the well when he drained it as a kid.
Ok wow, thats a theory i've never heard before but it actually makes alot of sense!
I was just going to comment something like that, I agree. I think that theory makes so much sense and was very well put together.
It’s an eternal curse. No way to stop it unless they actually stop the inner workings of it.
Makes me wonder what would happen if Ganondorf would one day become good?
Whatd he do to deserve it

I really wish that the final boss of the sandship had been... Scervo the mutinous pirate again. However this time he's in his prime and isn't a couple thousand years old, explaining why he's tougher and fights differently. At the end of the fight he wouldn't die, he can't because you kill him in the future, but you do get him off the ship somehow. They could even have him say something like "I never thought to see you again" when you fight him the "first" time and kill him as a miniboss.
I actually kinda agree 👍
Reminds me of the of the
,Last giant/Giant lord, boss fights in Dark souls 2 tbh.
Sounds kinda awesome ngl
Sounds like an interaction you could build an entire plot around, you fight bosses during the first half that clearly recognize you and kill/destroy them to progress, then around halfway through the game you have to travel back and fight them in their prime to gather items/materials required to deal with the final boss that will arrive in the future with the stronger past versions surviving but weakened in the encounter and plotting to summon/create the final boss as a plan to get revenge on their mutual enemy.
Honestly such a cool idea
Holy shit you cooked so hard wtf.
in the Japanese version was even a mention of a Demon Tribe and a God Tribe and so on, and in Spirit Tracks we know of the Existance of a Demon Realm where Link and Zelda and their allies drove with the Train of the Spirits to confront Malladus, so maybe Demise might have originated from an interdimensional Hell or something
Which is far more likely than him originating from Lorule.
The "god tribe" is actually just the Gods.
@@slopernafti902
I know, but just a group of Gods it would be considered as a Tribe, which is kinda interesting

Very confusing
As for where he came from, if we dismiss lorule as an option then i can actually answer that! It'd make WAY more sense to say demise is like the hylia of the demon realm and thats where he came from
Now i still havnt figured out if the demon realm is supposed to be another layer on the main realm (like the sacred realm), or if its a separate realm altogether like lorule is to hyrule. So the demons could have the triforce pieces of destruction, sorrow and despair
Ohh and as for ghirahim, i've got another very interesting theory on him as i believe i may have found where he went after SS.
Some problems with your theory:

Some more information about Demise and Ghirahim:
In the Japanese version Ghirahim calls himself the current demon tribe chieftain instead of Demon lord, demon tribe chief is one of Demise's titles so Ghirahim pretty much took over his Master's job during his absence.
The demon tribe's curse is the cycle of reincarnation that Demise directly references:
_It is born anew in a cycle with no end._
_it draws an endless cycle of death and rebirth._

Rinkuto:You don’t know what timeless means lol?
Baro:That he's old as hell.
X:no, "absolute"
Rinkuto:The only thing related to time in this quote is the expression "Toki o toe", which means "over time, timeless" etc
X:my question was more pertaining to what is meant by "absolute"
Rinkuto:I don’t see where the translators even saw the "it continues to be"
Baro:Rinkuto, do you have some doc where you collect your translations or something?
Rinkuto:Absolute in the sense of all mighty, overwhelming, etc
Rinkuto:No lol (reply to Baro's doc question)
Rinkuto:Sometimes I just translate when needed to fact check. If the localization is good, then I don’t save the translation.
X:is there a better translation for it than absolute? because that word carries other meanings that could lead people to think he exists beyond the rules of regular time
Rinkuto:And JPN is also a complexe language, so translations can vary. I feel like it’s better to translate multiple times one quote.
So I might have had translated one quote, forgot to save it. Then when needed again, I translate it again.
(End of conversation)
The Zelda series isn't just Buddhist but also Shintoist, in Shintoism Reincarnation functions differently.
Maybe hylia and demise were created the same, but one was made to have no hatred, and one was made to bring it out
Stalfos didn't appear in Majora's Mask, unless you count the skeletons in Ikana Graveyard.
King Igos du Ikana and the Ikana Swordsmen are Stalfos
Protip: If a character has the same Japanese name, the you have a official pronunciation. You just need to check how it’s written (pronounced) in Japanese. In this case Fi is pronounced “Fai” as in rhymes with “why”
(Helpful when pronouncing Pokémon too, it’s how I realized I was saying Suicune horribly wrong)
It also rhymes with sky
It's pronounced "SWEE-suh-koon"
I would've assumed it's pronounced like Navi...
2:37 I always thought that the LD stood for “Lanaryu Dragon”. It makes way more sense than “Lanaryu Desert” since all the robots came from Lanaryu (the Dragon deity thing) and work for him.
Lanayru Drone
I thought it was lanayru domain or like delta as in a specific series.
Another possibility is "Lanayru Digsite", since it's clear that the entire purpose of the robots was the extraction and management of time stones in the area.
Scervo could also be pronounced like "Skervo", like Scurvy
I'll be honest your theory of demise being Hylia's twin/pair was exactly what I thought when I first played skyward sword.
Same.
I’m so happy to see you’re doing these lore videos !!! I love listening as I’m working or going on a walk
Holy crap…I NEVER would have made the Monsters Inc and Tentalus connection. But now I can’t unsee it!
I never thought of Demise like that 🤔. This is another fantastic video
Awesome theories Bandit! Really love the one about Demise. If only Snickers candy bars existed in Hyrule, Demise might have a happy ending.
LD = Lanayru DISTRICT, not Lanayru Desert.
Plain is precisely how I like my rice.
It is not however how I like my Zelda games.
Please do a boss lore video for phantom hourglass and spirit tracks. Please.
Love the comedic timing of the close up on the eye and the elongated pronunciation of "I" at 7:16
19:02 "Hello everybody, my name is Hyruleplier and welcome to Breath of the Wild...TOOOOOOO!"
LD can stand for "Lanayru Domain" or "Lanayru District"
super solid theory for Demise. since your reasoning can be so easily inferred, it makes me think yours is possibly the intended explanation. good work as always dude, keep it up.
Stalfos have indeed appeared in EVERY Zelda game to date you are correct.
Nope they didnt appear in BotW.
@@Draconic_Incenerator theres stalkoblins stal lizals and stal moblins good enough for me
@@bowser_the_flamingshell Those arent Stalfos though.
13:49 Rolling my eyes? Fast forwarding? Nah. You made a heart to heart. I love that crap. And I love your videos!
Aren't the robots said to serve the thunder dragon? I believe someone else mentioned that LD could refer to Lanayru Dragon
Started watching these a few weeks back and keep throwing them on. Great content to listen to while doing things and taking care of my son. Keep up the great 👍
Bandit should do a podcast! He would be so good at it
I've been waiting for this video. Skyward Sword is my favourite Zelda game.
This is the kind of channel I actually sorta avoid sometimes but you know what, Bandit, you got me. Imma Sub.
"Rice without any curry"
My parents used to have to stop me from finishing the rice in the rice cooker without anything with it.
Love the vid bandit keep up the great work
Shūen-no mono (Demise's JP name) actually translates to "Person of demise" (i just checked for myself) btw his Spanish name is "Heraldo de la muerte" or Herald of death (so it basically means "Messenger of upcoming death")
Btw really cool video !!
I loved how Bandit asked for subscribers. It was so wholesome and different than the usual. Thanks, Bandit, for another video that I loved.
I subbed, I'm sorry I wasn't subbed earlier lol I've definitely watched enough of your videos. Good work.
Your reasoning for Demise's reasoning is the same as Lucifer's. And I fucking love it.
Love the explanation of 'creation' of this side and that side. That is a real thought buster
I'm the 20 percent that loves every single one of your videos, you deserve all the recognition you get
W VIDEO + W CREATOR + W LORE
I wanna do you one better with that Demise theory: Yes he was aware of his fate and that awareness is exactly what made him so angry and spiteful... but maybe that awareness was *by design*. As in, the ones who made him and Hylia together made him aware BECAUSE it would cause him to hate them.
I personally enjoy the running gag of the pronunciation of Fi's ("Fie's/Fee's?) name, and that it switches with the alternate almost every time.
What you just said about demise's origin. That is a pretty good explanation.
That Demise explanation was absolutely phenomenal. Definitely deserves a sub, wow.
Well, Echos of wisdom finally might have an explanation for demise, since fissures/rifts from the land is exactly what happens in that game.
Maybe.
Not gonna lie, always loved fighting Ghirahim, solely for the guy's character.
I didn’t realize I wasn’t subscribed until you actually pointed it out. I love any content related to the legend of Zelda, so you deserve a subscribe.
"Mister Eyeshadow"
Truly, a more accurate depiction of Ghirahim has never been phrased.
What if LD in the names of the robots doesn’t stand for Lanayru Desert, but rather Lanayru Designated? As in, designated or assigned to the Lanayru region?
I did finish Skyward Sword in hardcore mode. I'm undecided on whether I prefer Link an Zelda's relationship in Skyward Sword or Breath of the Wild
This may be my favorite explanation for Demise ever. Keep up the good work
Your theory on Demise is on point for me. This makes him so tragic
I'm glad the "F-eye, FEEE" is back
I can fix LD as a serial, Lanayru Drifts
**Mic Drop**
That Demise stuff was really great! And since the Zelda series has such a strong theme of mirrors (worlds as in Termina, Twilight, and Lorule), I think it's a really great theory.
To add to the theory that Demise is self-aware of his own existence intended to fail and lose, the same could be said of Ganondorf. He never asked to be born of the curse that pursues the blood of the goddess and the spirit of the hero. We know he genuinely cared for his people, but he was created to be hateful and evil. Truly tragic.
That’s a deep thought around Demise
Thank you for putting so much effort into these videos, I am always entertained
Your Monsters Inc. version of Tentalus' backstory is now canon in my mind and is not changing.
Thank you, and curse you.
As time goes by, I sympathize with the "evil" in this series more and more. The theory at the end really made me feel sad for Demise, and by extension, Ganondorf. Bro just wanted a decent life for his people...
I love the idea of Servo and Tentalus as Davy Jones and the Kraken/the ocean spirit
what you said about opposing forces being created when the other is made could explain the depths in totk which is a very vague theory.
The robots found in the desert are made by the dragon Lanayru. He has dialogue about it when you meet him in the second visit to the region
8:28 had me tearing up, have a sub you beautiful bastard.
Lol I love the back story from a galaxy far far away
I think the best part of this video is the Pyroclastic Friend bit 😂😂😂 keep up the awesome content Bandit!
I can see how much effort and love you put on these videos, thank you for this and keep it going! :)
Damn, your theories are very solid.
That statistic won't flip, sadly. But I gave you a sub, you have good content dude.
And your channel WILL keep growing, but your percentages match most creators over 100k on UA-cam. I don't know why people are hesitant to subscribe to channels, it's fucking free and helps someone who provides you free entertainment.
End rant, best of luck growing your channel!
So what we've all learned from this is that Hylia is a highly skilled roboticist.
(And also that Demise theory... Wow. I definitely buy it.)
Such an awesome video, great to see many more people have joined the Bandit Crew.
I’m excited to see this Boss explanation go into other game series.
Yeah, once Bandit started getting personal about how he wants the channel to grow... Well, I'm subscribed now. You do good work Bandit.
It is my first video I've seen of yours, but the honesty and enthusiasm is admirable, I will indeed subscribe, good luck with this channel, and I'll continue to watch your content....
Listening to do while studying for finals, this channel is so good.
