People are so uneducated, and rude, they have absolutely no respect for these brave soldiers.

@@SarahKeane-mw6uuI'm a German I visited the House of Guards. I had the impression more of the tourists had respect than your own folks. But some people from oriental countries were also very respectless. Actually it is a very tough duty for the guards and their horses with those crowds of visitors. I would put there barriers to keep the people on a distance. It seems for me as the tourist think it is something like a comedy. Nevertheless I enjoyed the time in London and the country side as well.
That type of tourism, ... rude tourists, overcrowded areas.... it's repulsive to me. It takes away from the beauty and history of what's trying to be presented. 🤷♂️
Tourists have ruined my capital city.,years ago people visited to educate themselves now they come to laugh and make fun of our history and culture. I hate them.

Hope all know the story about the last man who saluted after being told to back off. Earlier he had been highly misbehaving, being told over and over to stop pestering the horses. He even (twice) put his hand deep in the horses mouth with all the foam and spittle, and then put his hand in his own mouth and licked it off! Truly this poor gent needs some mental help and I do hope London has facilities to help a poor souls such as he? 😢. So the Guard definitely was not just being mean to be mean. This man could do harm to himself unwittingly.

If a tourist did that in Arlington Cemetery, they'd be arrested. And the rituals those guards have to go through are a lot more (seemingly) ridiculous than the King's Guards. NO disrespect to the American guards at all - they do display the utmost respect as they carry out their duty, just as the British Guards do, on duty for the King.

@@ront2424 it does seem to be a knee-jerk reaction. But with the way some of these entitled tourists behave around the King's guards, something may have to be done. You can see the additional stress in their faces and the way the horses react. More and more are biting or nudging people away.

I understand- it's like some Americans don't think our soldiers don't yell about, we do when necessary. All soldiers in the UK or in any other country are just doing their duty whether the public agrees or not. So Suck It Up And Fly Right Lol😂

Thisvhas probably already been answered. The building is Horseguards, situated on Whitehall . The present building dates from the mid 18 th century replacing a much older building. Horseguards is the offocial entrance to St James Palace which is still a Royal Palace which is why a formal guard is posted. ( Formerly Horseguards was also the entrance to the Palace of Whitehall,no later longer standing) 🏴🇬🇧

They`re soldiers, they aren`t shouting at the crowd, they`re being firm. They are not going to walk up to tourists and ask politely of them `would you mind awfully if you could just step to one side slightly`. They aren`t sergeant Wilson.

I guess if the Crown is going to allow the public to visit the British Army base at the Horse Guards they have to be willing and aware of human nature and some of the things that some people do.
They do this here because they know they can get away with it.

It's the Guard's duty and job to clear the way, not the MOD police. The MOD police will often move the crowd aside when change over occurs, but the Guard is in a better position to shift people when doing the rounds.
When will you people learn. The police have absolutely no authority over the army.
Why dont you learn about the protocol and tradions. You can always Google it.

It's not 'medieval', but is a military tradition that goes back about 300 years and not just a display gimmic. It's a privilege extended to the public to see which can be just as easily stopped. The Guards are active serving soldiers and deserve respect, no matter what uniform they wear or what their duties are. Just because you are totally ignorant of the history, traditions and whether the public is there or not, the same ritual would still happen. Anyway, when you say 'medieval', do you know in which part of history, that particular time was in?
These soldiers have been on active duty to defend our country. Please give respect.
