One of the basic themes of chess is the theme of king and pawn offering protection to each other. Keeping one's king adjacent to one or two or three friendly pawns is a way to do so. One case in point is at 15:51 when it is said, "Appearently black had to take with the h pawn... so the pawns needed to stay near the king." Two pawns adjacent to one's king often gives your king more protection than just one pawn adjacent to one's king, as turned out to be the case in this game. When one player had only one pawn remaining, a second case in point is the scenario at 16:42 where it is said "[I]f you are checked here, the engine wants you to move your king out to h4." The h4 move was the only legal move to keep the king adjacent to his last remaining friendly pawn. Having one's king stay adjacent to his last friendly pawn is generally a good idea, unless there is a clear disadvantage to doing so. The computer engine judged keeping the king adjacent to the last friendly pawn to be good in this particular case, but keeping one's king adjacent to his last remaining pawn is often good practice whether or not a computer engine is used. Both players in this game paid too little attention to an overall theme in chess of having king and pawn offering protection to each other. King and pawn sometimes make a surprisingly robust team, but many players ignore too much the potential for teamwork between king and pawn, and end up losing chess matches as a result.
... And in the face of an inminent disaster for this king getting mated in like 47 different ways, Black resigns. Jajajaja the icing on the cake of a great recount, I'm still laughing my ass off.

Thank you Levy Rozman for being a part of the chess world. And hey, love your content btw 😉
Chess is one of that games where watching people who are bad at it is way more fun than watching professionals
This would be a epic series for us lower players. Analyzing our brilliant moves and such is so satisfying considering we blunder queens left and right
"And moving the queen there is a brutal, cold shower"😂
“And In the face of an imminent disaster for this king getting mated in like 47 different ways”
Bruh idk what would give me more pain, watching this or losing to white 😂😂😂😂😂
My homie really said ‘juicy square’ 😂😂😂
A lot can be learned from a game between two relatively low-rated players, especially when a very good player, like Levy, is commenting on the game.
"Have you ever checkmated someone, and ever gone oh, I thought it was just check?" Can I send you a game? 😂
New to chess. Huge fan. Your bit about acting like any of us have any maturity whatsoever made me spit out my coffee... hilarious!!!! Keep up the great work man.
This is the version of chess strictly held together by only the holiest of duct tape
Levy, I always appreciated how well you can speak languages and pronunciate every name of every player perfectly (it is amazing!), and the fact that the only time I see you speaking the name of a player from Brazil you didn't get it right as you do with other players kinda saddens me a little bit 😅 Great video and thanks for the good content!
19:25 killed me, literally murdered me in my own house, because there is no fucking way that CATASTROPHE was only NINETEEN MOVES
He meant "minutes".
I REALLY Want to see your live reaction to the game! I love the rook sack and I can't wait to see you jumping and hollering with delight! as always, great content Mr. Levy
"pp on pp"
parent: what are you watching?
me: Gothamchess
parent: *dont allow me to play chess*
Today I played my first brilliant move in chess .
Congratulations :)
My brilliant moves are "ah, yeah, I know I fucked up but- this move has some tricks, and I cant seem to find the best refutation so yolo"
„…just castle for the love of God…” at 13:30 got me actually laughing out loud! Loving the commentary Gotham! 😂😂
Three things i do when i watch a GothamChess video:
Step 1: Watch the full video and enjoy the amazing content
Step 2:Check the comment section
Step 3: Bully the pinned comment of shame and send them home

By the way, he meant to put "..." not "._."
2:08 BROOO IM DYING

“Animals” lol
Day 362 of translating Levy's titles to Russian: "Рейтинг 1100 - НЕВЕРОЯТНАЯ ИГРА!"
"Everytime you see 69 you write 'Nice'!" I am 28 years old and I plead GUILTY!
“Ever had a mate by accident… oh it’s mate ? I thought it was just check” literally me 😂😂
... And in the face of an inminent disaster for this king getting mated in like 47 different ways, Black resigns.
Jajajaja the icing on the cake of a great recount, I'm still laughing my ass off.
18:11 nah, I also felt that Qe3 was obvious before you pointed out the mate just one square further lmao
