Oh man , exactly the workflow i'm trying to apply to my pipeline , can't wait to go through the learning part , huge guys !
Wow! Very helpful vid and congrats for the result Jared!
1 video, 2 gods of character design 🙂

Great video man, Jared is really a great artist and really appreciate his efforts for recording his process, Thanks for the video J!
He is and for sure, glad you liked it
Awesome and great job 🤯
This just came on time, I'm doing a character artist test and this is extremely helpful.
Damn, simply amazing work!
Great episode, do more of this it's really cool
Thank you! Glad you liked it. Will do
I love your content so much! I am a big fan.. I look up to you a lot. I really hope I can become as good as you one day :). Very excited for the next content you upload. I have to say, you are one of the few youtubers I truly admire. Nobody seems to see it but I just love how you talk to the audience, not many are able to connect to the people like you do! Wish you the best in life! You bring happiness to us people who are stoked to learn character design. It is so tragic that my college will never get close to anything you teach here.
Wow thank you for all the love and kid message. Really glad you like the content! Sorry to hear about your school, I know how that goes. Keep making cool stuff!
There are no words to express delight 🤩 Thank you 💥
🙏
Fantastic. Really appreciate the passion that went into this piece

Awesome man 👍

Amazing stuff man
🙏
zbrush perpetual license is around $1000 now o_Ô
Amazing info and resources as always! What would you recommend for game-ready characters in portfolio, using hair cards or XGen? I say you use XGen in your last projects presented in Unreal and I think it is awesome but I dont know if I should have some "performance friendly" hair in my Portfolio. Ive got a comment from a friend that told me that haircards are going to "die" in a close future... from your perspective and great experience what would you suggest? I think XGen is more fun (and ofc always gonna give better outcome) to do.
Hey, thanks. I think haircards still are and will be the main method for making hair for characters in games. For portfolios, I'd recommend both. Do real time hair cards for characters and maybe one or two high quality ones with groom just because it looks so nice :p
Question : I want to develop a video game for that I need some character but I am a game programmer and don't know how to develop character for my game. Any suggest how should I learn to develop some character.
Like a road map
Get this man a RTX GPU or 10 this work is amazing.
amazing vid, Is this usefull for videogame characters? or it's too much detail for a game?
Yea for sure. Game Character quality is a wide rang and this is on the high end. Hair curves is still only reserved for super high quality close to camera stuff
You just got a new subscriber
🙏
So how egzactly did you guys "applied" XYZ's, this part is pretty "hazy", or you just didnt mentioned that Zwrap was utilized?
Used the map as a mask in spotlight and poly painted through it. Then used the color intensity on the mesh as a mask. Then inflated a little
@@artofjhill thank you
weird the artist wasnt using references to resolve the simple issues arising from creating a face
Annyone know where the substance skin textures are located on disc ?
Might be from the substance source library
Please what's the Meaning of Geostrips ?
Not sure if the context but that would be a one sided plan that’s long with edges in one direction. Like for hair
J Hill...I have a crush on you 🤭
14:35 - Women ask me this all the time.
J I WANT BRO! :)
Can’t have :p
@@artofjhill hahahaha
I'm not even going to get into the argument with Zbrush vs Blender🤦🏿♂️
What argument?
@@artofjhill if you are a skilled artist, in the end it's about personal preference. Why would I spend hundreds of dollars on a program when I can do the exact same thing if not more for free.
Both programs import and export OBJ and FBX files anyway. Even though you can turn up the poly count very high in Zbrush, you're not going to make the mesh on the character model that dense (with 16 million polys) when you're making models for a game or rigging a character.
That's all I'll say for now and no, I'm not in a "blender cult". Just considering the fact that both programs basically do the same thing and what if it's not economically feasible for somebody to pay hundreds of dollars or not sure if they want to get in game design.
✅
Blender cult?

Blender phobes
When Blender's Hair gets better, I'll be there. Arnold on the way too
Low-key kinda rude
because?
Great video J. And please give a GPU to this guy. He deserves it. Eventually 2*3090
Agreed
