This man was a true legend. In the 60s, Chicago, Il., at the Regal Theater, Jackie Wilson would put on a show that the kids could understood. Everyone enjoyed his show. After seeing this video of Jackie Wilson and the home video of how he looked when he was in that nursing home makes me we just want to cry my eyes out because this man was by far the greatest artist has ever lived and he got cheated out of everything that was owed to him even after his death 35 years later
You are a lucky person. If the death and debt of a celebrity, is of concern to you, you're ahead of the game. Most people are looking for their next meal.
When Jackie collapsed on stage everyone thought it was part of his always dramatic act. It took too long for people to realize it wasn't. Wilson was in his own league. There was no R&B voice better than his. His life would make for a worthy movie. Call it "Alone At Last."
This reminds me of what happened to Redd Foxx. He was on the set of his TV show and he was doing his "Elizabeth, I'm coming to join ya, honey" type schtick when he suddenly had a real heart attack. It took everybody a while to realize that he wasn't joking. He later died.

Jackie Wilson is my favorite singer of all time. Search his son "Bobby Brooks Wilson" he has an amazing story about growing up his whole life as a Jackie Wilson fan, going on to impersonate Little Richard and then finding out that Jackie Wilson was his Dad!!

This is so true. People don't believe it - but I do. Karma...Fate...Reciprocity - whatever you choose to call it - corrects all wrongs - as well as rewards all rights - in due time. We may get by -doing our dirt - but you can believe, NO ONE gets away.
It is common knowledge that Elvis not only liked Jackie Wilson but also admired Jackie. In one book about Elvis the author stated that Elvis went to see Jackie Wilson perform live. One of the songs Jackie sang was "Return To Sender". After seeing and hearing Jackie's version of "Return To Sender", Elvis was reported as saying "H-ll, I like his version better than mine". I remember well Jackie from the 50's and admired Jackie most because of his natural operatic voice. Jackie certainly had a great, great natural (no voice training), vocal talent equally combined with his natural ability to be a great entertainer. We had many, many, good (but not great) vocal singers in the 50's, neither were these good vocalists considered entertainers. It takes something extra to be a great singer and great entertainer. People like Jackie and Elvis and Jackie had that something extra.
It was "Don't Be Cruel"... Elvis talks about it on the Million Dollar Quarter recordings. He said he saw a member of Billy Ward his Domino's do his song. He didn't know who Jackie was at the time but he goes on to do an impression of Jackie singing the song and says Jackie "Sang the hell outta that song". He said he went back 3 nights to watch Jackie sing it. You can hear Elvis put some of that Jackie Wilson flavor into Don't Be Cruel in later live performances.
Elvis still died fat and wealthy and today is still earning millions of dollars over 40 years after his death....the comparison between Jackie Wilson and Elvis is fucking comical. Are you kidding?
@* CHRISHAYRIDER68 * The fact that Elvis could still pay for Jackie Wilson's medical bills prove my point. Mr. Wilson should have been in a position to pay HIS own bills but he wasn't so again...comparing Elvis to Jackie Wilson is fucking comical and you're the biggest part of the joke
@* CHRISHAYRIDER68 * If Elvis had died the way Jackie Wilson did, white America would have protested and called for congressional investigations into how record labels mismanage artists and their royalties. Fuck Off!
* CHRISHAYRIDER68 * thank you. Love both, obviously these fools commenting are just not interested in knowing that *gasp* a white entertainer loved and provided at times for a friend that just happened to he non white. Imbiciles

Jackie Wilson was one of the greatest R&B singers of all time. His untimely death is a loss to ALL musicians, singers and fans of R&B. And he was royally screwed by his record company and others who managed his career. What a pitiful end to such a great man!
OMG! Mr. Excitement died in debt due to those clowns at his record label. Where Money ranks in Hollywood there's GREED and they will abuse your financials for their own purpose and gains. That's what I called a very heartbreaking ending.

No one -- but NO ONE -- could set a stage on fire like Jackie Wilson. After an entire show full of those acrobatic, sexy dance moves, he'd finish up by lying down on the edge of the stage and letting the women come running up to touch him, grab him, pull his clothes off -- he'd end up walking backstage with his clothes in tatters, covered in scratches and blood from their fingernails. And that voice of his was a thing of majesty and wonder.
You know what's so amazing. Will Young, The Very First Pop Idol did one of Jackie's Songs, in The UK where Soul Music is still very popular. En Vogue did the same thing, getting advances then having to pay out to the point that they didn't have the glamorous life that some people felt that they did.

Correct, but it did not end in the 50s and 60s , Tlc is a prime example, read what happen to them?? They got rip off by black executives , it was said also 2pac died broke suge knight rip him off , I’m sure today’s music have not changed much
Wow I didn't know all of that...that's so cold hearted. Rest easy Jackie. Thanks for sharing ur gift
many of these talented stars where taken advantage of how can these people the producers have a soul ,what goes around comes around ……………….
the industry is demonic. someone is always getting lied to or ripped off. "money is the root of" all sorts of evil
Thanks Al for posting this video. I also, am a songwriter in Nashville. Jackie is definately one of the greatest entertainers ever to grace a stage. Is there suspicions that his "stroke" was a mob hit (using a substance to induce that)? Where's Pt.2? Best of luck on the screenplay, man that movie needs to be out there. I have a friend in that business. I'd like for him to see the screenplay. They might be interested. Is there a way to contact me direct through youtube? LEW
Oh Gosh, this is a wonderful idea. His story needs to be on the big screens!
Jackie Wilson is my favorite singer of all time. Search his son "Bobby Brooks Wilson" he has an amazing story about growing up his whole life as a Jackie Wilson fan, going on to impersonate Little Richard and then finding out that Jackie Wilson was his Dad!!
Jackie was the greatest his voice was that of a angel❤
criminal enterprise. The Lord will judge Mr. Tarnopol in due season. RIP Jackie Wilson you did good
I agree with all of above. There has not been anyone as talented as Jackie. I don’t think there will ever be. He enjoyed all of us enjoying him
He already judge him he died early life
Even if don't mean he going to hell all he had to do was ask for forgiveness. U tried it
This was such a talented man, it makes me sick how these companies ripped these artists off. When they meet there maker they will pay
This is so saddening! And to see Jackie in that state of health. Wow.. Sure grabs the ole heart strings, that is for sure. Bless Jackie's heart. A true Entertainer, true Innovator & a great voice.. Rock n Roll never forgets.. Neither will we. Mr Wilson lives on in his music he left behind....... ♫♪ R.I.P. †
Hey Al, I wish you all the best in your effort to bring the GREATEST singers story to the screen. I am looking forward to that special thing!
everything we have ever said, thought or done to others, we will one day relive.
This is so true. People don't believe it - but I do. Karma...Fate...Reciprocity - whatever you choose to call it - corrects all wrongs - as well as rewards all rights - in due time. We may get by -doing our dirt - but you can believe, NO ONE gets away.
Jackie Wilson was awesome! He had energy and talent and its a shame his life ended as it did.
Oh, and Mary Wilson was hot. Just saying.
And even at age 75 in 2019, Mary Wilson is still hot today. Just saying, too.
Even in her 7th decade she's still beautiful and glamorous.
So sad. He was a beautiful and fantastic talent.
Elvis was ripped off by his manager as well .
Elvis still died fat and wealthy and today is still earning millions of dollars over 40 years after his death....the comparison between Jackie Wilson and Elvis is fucking comical. Are you kidding?
@@TheOlskool4ever ......Tell em again!
Imbiciles
You’ve brought my family so much joy, Jackie! We love you!❤️ Rest In Peace. Thank you!
I'm obsessed with him.
Me too
Thaddeus Jones I've been since I was a kid listening to my pops records
Thank you Al Kasha, I respect you and love your work. Benny
Sam Cooke refused to go out like this... That's why he was murdered.
Allen Klein killed Sam Cooke.
@@saj8 YOUR PROOF PLEASE!!
@@ronniemoon57 if you know the story of what he did then it does seem suspicious. I believe he was murdered too and I am NOT a conspiracy theorist. If you have Netflix, watch the documentary The two killings of Sam Cooke.

One of the greatest entertainers to ever buss a move & grab a mic 🎤🎼🎹🎶🎤🎼🎹🎶 u can't name one mofo that he didn't inspire bro he was definitely Mr. Excitement often imitated but never duplicated Jackie was one of a kind the man the myth the legend 🥰🥰
TYVM in my opinion the greatest over all singer of all time, he was able to do it all across the board.
thanks for posting this...incredible! where can I see Part 2?
❤💔😢 We Love You Jackie Wilson God Bless
Jackie was the lead singer in the group and no one knew who Elvis was until '56.
And what is your point ????
Steve R elvis a vulture
That was a very shocking image of him in the bed, I never knew he was that bad off, one of my all time favorites poor Jackie.
You and me both
Yes, Jackie Wilson, was one of the greatest entertainers I ever saw. I model my style after him. I hated he was so taken advantage of. May Hod bless him. RIP Jackie Wilson.
You know I meant May God, bless him.
I think all the singers who owe their careers too should buy a headstone for his grave so sad I promise if I hit the Poweball that's the first thing I will do shame on all the entertainers for not coming to his rescue
He has a headstone.
We could get him one if you start up a gofundme acct.
I agree with you. They should've giving him a proper burial. 😥
Why do you need the Powerball to help!!
@@patjohnson9794 who is they ? You could have helped !
Wow, this is a crying shame. Greed is a crippling disease. Bless Jackie Robinson's soul.
Wilson lol
😢 makes you wonder what really happened to sam cooke..
How does a massive heart attack become a gun shot?
@@murcson ...You're right Ron...….And don't get me started on Sam!!!......If Sam Cooke WAS shot by the hotel mgr....……...He was Just About Dead when he got there...….
@@murcson Wilson didn't die from the gunshot. He did lose a kidney though. It was a scorned woman.
Sam was on another level..he had his own publishing.
@@jimjackson4111 ABSOLUTELY!!!!
Elvis was treated the same way. I think Elvis was better off than Jackie. I think Elvis paid some of his hospital bills. Elvis didn't have a lot of money when he died. Elvis's manager took 50% of Elvis money.
Maggie Mae /
Maggie Mae So if Jackie Wilson was white would you say the same thing?
Your correct Maggie, Pricilla Presley sued The Colonel and got back many of
royalities that Colonel Parker tried to take.
Just sad to see this great entertainer suffer 😢😢 Rest in Peace😢
Simply, THE BEST!
R.I.P. YOU ARE TRULY THE GREATEST, WE ALL MISS YOU.
Jackie Wilson was one of the greatest R&B singers of all time. His untimely death is a loss to ALL musicians, singers and fans of R&B. And he was royally screwed by his record company and others who managed his career. What a pitiful end to such a great man!
A damn shame! So many great artists and songwriters were cheated and forgotten about
Saw Jackie Wilson in 1975 in the UK at the soul club Wigan Casino just a few months before. xx
Record companies took advantage and will still do it if they can. You need a good lawyer and trust no one
OMG! Mr. Excitement died in debt due to those clowns at his record label. Where Money ranks in Hollywood there's GREED and they will abuse your financials for their own purpose and gains. That's what I called a very heartbreaking ending.
If you think that's bad, check out The Big Reunion 1 & 2 which is a UK Documentary about a Group of Boy Bands/Girl Groups who get back together for a Reunion Show who find out the hard way that Pop Music Giveth and Pop Music Taketh Away. One of the Guys named Dane Bowers was a successful Teen Idol like Aaron Carter who went from having it all to losing it all. He ended up Homeless singing as a Lounge Singer even working in a Cafe. I once had dreams of being a Lawyer working with Artists and help them get their Music Royalty Payments. Now "You're Love Keeps Lifting Me Higher" is used in a Colgate Toothbrush Commercial in Canada.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥👊👊👊👊👊💯👍!!!!!!!!.
The same commercial is used here in the States, too......whose getting the Royalties?????..... Brunswick Record Corporation or The Estate Of Jackie Wilson??????..... That's what I would like to know??????.....🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔.......
That is so sad.....😧😧😧😧😧......I write songs and was up under contract with Sony/ATV.....I have another law books on music publishing to have my own library........because, I am not going to be cheated not even with the organizations that supposed to be fighting for you rights as an Artist..... because they can be "Ass-Holes" too......👊👊👊👊👊👍👍👍👍👍!!!!!!!!!.
He was cheated out of so much and it's so unfair, but that's okay
This was a crying shame that Jackie went out like this. Such a great talent.
I wish that today's "Kids" who want to be Pop Stars can watch Documentaries like this or have Folks who went through what he went through and teach them how "bad" the business can be.
laminage or teach them good music. I know I used to listen to my parents records all the time. Jackie being one of the many.
Alonzo Tucker did write "Doggin' Around" with Jackie Wilson. Right now I am working on bringing Jackie's story to the screen. I have written a screenplay and am shopping it around right now, so hopefully something will come through soon. Thanks so much for your kind comments.
JACKIE WILSON HAS A DAUGHTER NAMED ALEKYSS K TYLOR WHY DONT YOU REACH OUT TO HER. SHE HAS WAITED FOR THIS KIND OF OPPORTUNITY. IF YOU ARE TRULY DOING THIS FROM THE HEART ...IJS
SHAME on all those famous rich black people who let a legend like Jackie Wilson die without a headstone. Where was Motown? Where was all those singers who were AWARE of his situation ? Nope ! No excuses. It is a shame on the black community where he came from. Disgusting !
He was never with Motown. It was Brunswick who ripped him off and could have cared less.
+Demonte Morton yep
@@cedbigby5456 I think the OP is suggesting that Motown should have stepped up and assisted, out of respect for who Jackie was and what he represented to the music. And I think the point is very valid.
surely one of the greats ..
i hope you would be able to bring Jackie's story to the screen.it is so unfair that such a fantastic singer that inspired mj,elvis and others is unknown to the younger generations.he was the best
If you look at this performances people! Jackie Wilson is the originaator of the Side Moon walk!! Before Micheal Jackson..even James Brown it was Mr.Execitment himself Jackie Wilson! he had the looks" the voices everything! Someone should make a movie about his life...this is 2013 he is still remember today!
I have been speaking about Jackie Wilson for years, he was Phenomenal Before Elvis, there was JACKIE , NOW YOU KNOW.CANNOT UNRING A BELL.
....and....all Mr. Wilson wanted was to dance, sing & entertain the audience that loved him so much.
One of the Greatest Ever.
This is so sad! He was so much more than this, and it's so wrong to end like this. I'm so sad .
Damn seeing such energetic and entertaining, smiling person in that state has me with no words.
Simply heartbreaking.
May this poor man rest in peace.
I really mean this from my heart jackie wilson was great and they need make a movie about this i know alot of you on this comments section agree
You know what's so amazing. Will Young, The Very First Pop Idol did one of Jackie's Songs, in The UK where Soul Music is still very popular. En Vogue did the same thing, getting advances then having to pay out to the point that they didn't have the glamorous life that some people felt that they did.
He was a man of great talent. Unfortunate that this happened to him but it did & to many others. #RIP-JW
Jackie was the black Elvis. If only he had lived longer. I loved Jackie Wilson! - JG
