ABOUT US
Michael and Halef live in Atlanta, GA, but are originally from Canada and Indonesia, respectively. They love to travel and try to do it as much as possible. They saved for a few years and are currently on a long-term round the world trip!
Even though it's been decades since Michael's been home, his enthusiasm for his ol' stompin grounds is undeniable. Such a feel-good video.
I hope you get to visit as many National Parks as you can!👍🇨🇦
Yes, we love our national parks, both in the US and Canada 😃
There is nothing like the feeling of going home,no matter how long it's been. I enjoy every visit back home.
Absolutely true 😊
Your videos are absolutely delightful. Clarenville is a pretty area. There’s a special spiritual feeling there. I noticed you were a bit emotional. I felt it when I was there. There’s something interesting about that. I live on the prairies. I loved NL. What a wonderful childhood to live in such a pretty & magical place.
Thank you so much for your kind words! Clarenville and Newfoundland indeed hold a special charm that can evoke strong emotions and a unique sense of spirituality. The rugged landscapes, close-knit communities, and rich cultural history contribute to creating a truly magical atmosphere. It's wonderful to hear that you felt a similar connection during your time in NL, and it's a place that many people hold close to their hearts. Living in such a picturesque and culturally rich environment can certainly make for a unique childhood experience. We're glad you enjoyed your visit to Newfoundland and that you could share in its beauty and magic.
Nice video I am also from Clarenville fun to see Delno Rose in your video
Oh hahaha what a small world 🌍😁
oh my goodness i miss newman sound so much ! i'm so glad you got to relive your childhood Michael! ❤️
❤️
Just discovered your channel. Subscribed and enjoying following along. I'm a fellow Newfoundlander who moved away many years ago. Cheers!
Welcome aboard 😃
Really enjoyed this .
Thank you 😀
Great videos, guys!! I loved the ferry one as well. Driving back to Newfoundland from Alberta in July, first time home in 3 years can't wait!
Thank you, and welcome home 🏡🇨🇦
Was good to see you home again! Miss Terra Nova the most, too.
😎🇨🇦
Memory lane feels so foreign yet....special. when I went LA it was in fact the twilight zone haha. I love seeing Kana enjoying the travel life
For sure - Kana loves exploring new places with us 😀🐕🦺
She's a very good girl ❤️
Another great video fellas.
Thank you 😀
I’m so glad I found you’s. Anytime I can anybody going to N.L I want to go.
Absolutely 🤗🇨🇦
Michael, I didn't realize you had history from "The Rock", Navy sent me up to Argentia in 63', I was there for two years. I could not stand living in the barracks so I rented a room out in Placentia with a family who built dory's and fished for cod and lobsters. I went native- when I got my 3 days off I took the CNN ferry out to the South Coast . I spent time out on Marasheen Island and Fox Harbour where I did a lot of trout fishing. I still sing a lot of Newfoundland songs when I go to Chanty fest. I herd you singing one of my favorite's - Islander in your Labrador video. I had a Swampscott dory a few years ago, and Christine and me used to go out and play with the dolphins off the coast here in Delaware. Cap'n Rick (Christines Dad) Port of Lewes, Delaware
That's amazing! I used to take the ferry every year to Nova Scotia, where my mom is from. Rough sometimes! Newfoundland is a great place. I appreciate it more now than I ever did before. Thanks for sharing!
@@theRTWguys They scream on me for killing the Seale's; they begrudge my child food then. For where the soil is thin the blood is thick' but that they will never understand, until they have lived in the cove like me. But the Greenpeace ship's keep sailing, screaming about the slaughter and ey'e ''Eyi' Bye's, I kill the seals, but I do not wear their coat's. So go see your rich and famous, and leave the Newfoundland men alone, cause' he's got to make a living, so he can feed the wife and babe's at home! I will be watching all you Maritine Province video's now Than you for a trip back and memories .
So proud to be a newfie…living in England I miss it everyday
Newfie forever 😀🇨🇦
Always informative thankyou
Thank you Lisa ❤️
I haven't been in newman sound for like almost 20 years, but I remember the bats used to be pretty common to see around the public bathrooms eating the bugs around the light just outside. They'd dive after us as kids sometimes lol. Im also from Clarenville
It sounds like you have some fun and interesting memories from Newman Sound! Bats can certainly add a unique aspect to the outdoor experience, even if they were playfully diving after you as kids. Clarenville and the surrounding areas offer a lot of natural beauty and wildlife. If you ever have the chance to revisit, you might find that some things have changed while others remain wonderfully familiar. Thanks for sharing your memories, and I hope you have the opportunity to make new ones in the future!
I love your videos and your dog is gorgeous! I'm addicted watching all your videos - both of you are genuinely good people \, I can tell :) Too bad you couldn't make it into PEI, that's where my family is from! Keep up the great video. Thanks.
Thank you so much!! 😊
Love your childhood stories :)
Thank you 😀
seems like such a cool area to grow up in :)
😬 You know it!
Hi I’m from Newfoundland near St. John’s
Welcome to our channel 😄
Doggo saw the timbit box as soon as u came out the door
🍩🍩
My dad would get “frankum” for me to chew if I had a canker (or what we call an ulcer in NL). It didn’t taste too good and it was very crumbly at first but got a little chewier and mellowed out after a little while. I had quite a few ulcers I didn’t tell me dad about because I’d be given some frankum for it and it wasn’t my cup of tea. I’m sure it was effective though, lol. I’m from Campbellton, NL, just a 10 minute drive from Lewisporte on the Road to the Isles. I spent quite a bit of time in Bonavista Bay while growing up. My brother lived in Sandy Cove and worked in Glovertown. Gorgeous place. Did you ever swim at a place called “Crooked Tree Park” or “Crooked Tree Pond”? Really cool. All the trees are indeed crooked or “squish”, lol
Yes! That's what my dad called it too!
Another wonderful video, and I think that your home town sounds familiar to me. I’m wondering how far it would be from Badger, and or Grand Falls? Thanks!
I'm glad you enjoyed the video! The distance between Badger and Grand Falls-Windsor is approximately 44 kilometers (about 27 miles) by road. The driving time between the two towns is around 30-40 minutes, depending on traffic and road conditions. Both Badger and Grand Falls-Windsor are located in the central part of Newfoundland, making them relatively close to each other in terms of travel distance.
Omg. I had to google where New Foundland is. It's like waaaay far from South Texas lol. But it looks beautiful.
Absolutely - it is a loooong way from South Texas 😀
Hi Michael....I'm also a NL'dr who was born on the island,(Twillingate) but grew up in the GTA, and then moved to the US in the late 90's and have been living in FL now for 22 yrs. I have a summer home in the Terra Nova region and now that Im retired, I get to go up there just about every summer. Do you live in the US? I see you're wearing a US Old Navy tee.. Cheers, from sunny FL
I split my time between both countries. I really do miss it up there.
@@theRTWguys I hear ya!! I love summers there, and my Mother is still alive (90+ ) and living in central...I hate to leave her but I cant bear the cold now at this age. Cheers!! Ive seen a couple of your videos of NL ....
makes me homesick. :-)
you are Canadian , be proud even while you live in the US
Absolutely ❤️🤗
Well, well, well. The mystery of the disappearing blueberries is finally solved. Imagine our surprise and disappointment when we arrived at our cabin that year to find our blueberries all but gone. Our 7-year old was devastated! We had seen the plentiful flowers and green berries that year and knew there was going to be a bountiful harvest. We were just waiting for them to ripen!! Who taught you it was ok to walk all over someone’s property and take what’s not yours? I don’t mean a handful or a taste, I’d be fine with that. But a blueberry rake? You all but picked the branches clean. Not cool, buddy, not cool. We like enjoy our blueberries every year!
We didn't take every blueberries there
hallo Halef, how are you? remember me? Yayay Bdg
Of course
