ABOUT US
Michael and Halef live in Atlanta, GA, but are originally from Canada and Indonesia, respectively. They love to travel and try to do it as much as possible. They saved for a few years and are currently on a long-term round the world trip!
Thank you guys for sharing!
Only so much of our British History we can absorb.
It's good to learn about somewhere different and
really interesting.
Absolutely ❤️
Here's an interesting tidbit. There was a ferry called the William Carson that went down in those Bell Isle Straits in the 70's after getting cut open by flat ice and was originally commissioned to cross North Sydney to Port aux Basques and was our family's first ferry crossing in the mid 1960's.There is also a song called the William Carson on youtube that sings about her being too big at the time for the Port aux Basques dock that you guys might want to look up.
That's interesting- thanks for the info!
Red Bay was named for the red roof tiles the Spanish brought over. The Basque whalers would come over and build their houses with the red roof tiles.

Also, this just made me so happy seeing the sights I’d see when I’d visit family when I was younger over there
Cool…first time I see an RV blogger venture into Labrador…. !!
Hahahaha we are different 🤣
Great video! I did a trip out to southern Labrador too, back in the summer of 2018. Watching your video gave me happy nostalgic feelings of that trip 👍
Thank you for watching ☺️
You two never fail to entertain !
Thanks for taking us along on a place most would likely never see !
Hahaha that's awesome - thank you Allan!
Thanks guys for the fabulous videos. One popped up and I have been binge watching these for two days…..makes me so homesick. Take care and happy adventures! Please give Canna a big kiss for me……she is a gorgeous GSD.
You're very welcome! We're glad to hear that you've been enjoying the videos. Kana appreciates the virtual kiss! If you ever have more questions or if there's anything else you'd like to know or discuss, feel free to reach out. Take care and happy adventures to you too!
Fantastic adventure!!! 5:39. Awwww poor babies haha. I laughed when u drove away and she started chasing the van haha. That long step trail was beautiful!
Hahaha we probably traumatized Kana for life now 😭
We drove through Labador and totally enjoyed it. Church Hill Falls is in the center... An amazing drive. Highly recommend it his trip. Read about Church Hill Falls.
Will do - thanks for the recommendation!
I drove the entirety of the Trans Labrador Highway in 2016 as part of a 7000 mile road trip from West Virginia. It was mostly dirt then but I understand it is all paved now which sort of makes me sad. Newfoundland Labrador will always be a special place for me a as a result of that trip. St. John was beautiful and the Western Brooke Pond was amazing.
It's so true about Canadian history compared to other parts of the world but I feel like I can understand the people from that time better than if they were from 3000 BC. It's fun to go to these little towns and see multiple generations who can point to a photo and say, "I'm related to that history-maker"👍
Hahaha so true 😂
Thumbs up! great video guys!
Thank you 😀
Labrador in the summer is a nice escape from the sweltering heat.
💯
Going in May June can't wait. Thanks for sharing. Great video.
Absolutely - enjoy your visit ❤️
Always informative thankyou
Thank you Lisa ❤️
Like your video. Well done. Most folks drive from Quebec (Quebec City) and drive north to Labrador from Baie Comeau, QC to see those places you visited... And you get to pass right through Churchill Fall! Tks for producing and sharing.
Absolutely - thank you for watching ♥️
WTG on making it over to Labrador, even I never got that far northeast. Closest I came was 25 miles east of Sept lIes PQ. and or St. Anthony's back in the 80's. Really enjoying this video and wish more vloggers would follow in your tracks.
Thank you 😀
I can feel it. Thank you.
😀🇨🇦
Very good video! I hope to get to go to Labrador some day.
Absolutely 😀
Glad to discover you! Many questions. Do you own or rent your camper van? What's your overall budget per year? Are you self-funded, or do you work for someone? What's your camera equipment and video training? Everything looks great, by the way. You have great personalities for video. Bring on the next one!
Thank you for your kind words and interest! We own our camper van, and our overall budget per year varies depending on our travel plans and expenses. We are self-funded and do not work for anyone else. As for our camera equipment, we use a DSLR camera and sometimes a drone for aerial shots. We also have basic video editing training and continuously strive to improve our skills. Stay tuned for more videos, and feel free to ask any other questions you may have!
What a beautiful place
Yes it is ❤️🇨🇦
Loved this video!
Thank you, and glad that you enjoyed it ☺️
Im so excited to labrasor in person
Good for you!
The furthest I've ever been on Côte Nord (north coast) is Mingan. Stunning place really. We had rented a pickup at Sept-Îles, planning to reach the end of the road at Natashquan, but had an engine problem near Mingan. So that's where we spent the night. Today, the road stops a little further east, at Kegaska. There are plans to extend Route 138 even further east, reaching Blanc-Sablon, but there are just so many rivers to cross in Québec, so building roads can be costly.
I had to look the places you mentioned up on the map - so interesting. Thank you for sharing - maybe someday they will finish and connect the loop road!
@@theRTWguys The section from Kegaska to La Romaine was funded in 2020, and construction had begun. But there is still a long way to go, to reach the existing section between Vieux-Fort and Blanc-Sablon.
By the way, the village of Harrington Harbour (in the middle of the area not connected by road) is one of the most picturesque villages on the upper Côte Nord.
Hi, guys. Just saw a couple of your videos. Great job! I'm planning to retire in a few years and I'm thinking of doing the exact same thing that you guys are doing. If you're ever in Toronto, let me know. I'll buy you a beer! :)
Hi there! We're thrilled to hear that you're enjoying our videos and considering a similar adventure for your retirement. Traveling and exploring can be such a rewarding experience. If our paths take us to Toronto, we'll definitely keep your offer in mind! Thanks for the kind invitation, and here's to exciting journeys and future adventures! 🍻😊
Very. nice merci
❤️
You notice the sayings on the stairs had a reddish paint? I'm guessing "Red bay" came from the presence of "Red Ochre". It a natural red paint found in localized deposits.
The first nations people in Atlantic Canada used it for sun protection. That's why they were considered "Red skinned".
Ah that's a very interesting fact - thanks for sharing!
Red Bay's name is not for the presence of 'Red Ochre' but for the asques (Spanish) roofing tiles - terra cotta roof tiles from a Basque region are still visible along the shorleine and evidence of their presence in the 16th century.
The keeper had to walk those stairs many times.
I can only imagine -
my childhood stomping grounds redbay every summer can even see my uncles house in this vid. cant beleve u didnt go to lodge bay and visit battle harbor. my opinion the best spot up there.
Awww I wish we had locals to show us around. But that's so cool to hear that you're from Red Bay. What a beautiful town ❤️
Hi Holis and Michael (good name!)
My name is Michael and I live in Washington DC. Two weeks ago I drove up to NL and just loved it. I wanted to see the Northern Lights, which I never saw. Had cloudy or foggy weather every night. . I love your videos and they helped me so much in choosing just which places to visit. I actually drove a bit further north than you guys up to Charlottetown Labrador.
Do you guys ever do videos in the DC, VA and MD areas?
My best to you both
Hi Michael!
Thanks for reaching out, and we're thrilled to hear that you enjoyed your trip to Newfoundland despite missing out on the Northern Lights. It's a beautiful place, isn't it? We're glad our videos could help you decide where to visit!
While we haven't done any videos in the DC, VA, and MD areas yet, it's definitely something we'd consider in the future. We'll keep your suggestion in mind!
Thanks for your support, and best wishes to you too!
good video
Thank you Andrew 😊
Labrador is stunning. You guys should check out Northwest River. One of my all time favourite places.
We will be back to Labrador someday 😀
Because it's the best place on Earth
@@gabrielmontague9719it’s nice but not that certainly not as of late this town is not what it used to be
@@myles3856 I'm intrigued.
my hometown, super old too!
New subscriber! Watching from Queensland, Australia. 🇦🇺🏳️🌈
Thank you Ben ☺️🇦🇺🇨🇦🌈
I’m so curious about needing to show your documents getting off the ferry. It’s not like you’re coming from the states. Am I missing something here? Great video btw!
This was during the Pandemic, and the four Maritime provinces had their own COVID border protocol. On this ferry, we left Newfoundland into Quebec (outside the Maritime area) and back into Labrador in the Maritime.
What does "below zero" mean? Celsius or Fahrenheit?
Lol - it's Canada, so it's Celcius 😁
so jealous .
😬
How much trasport from ontario to labrador
Driving?
Labrador and the Croatian province of Dalmatia have something in common: they're best known for dogs.
And Newfoundland 😃
When were you guys there?
Late August 2021
@@theRTWguys we were there August 16-20, 2021. It is my husbands hometown. Glad you enjoyed it
Why would you have to show your papers crossing from Quebec to Labrador?
Because at that time, the Maratime provinces had their own COVID document policies. Quebec didn't have one, but Newfoundland and Labrador did.
No papers required now.
It aint newfoundland and labrador without some rain lol
Hahaha truth!
Can we rent 100 doiiar
Rent what?
Only Newfoundland has the extra half hour of time change Labrador is one hour ahead of Quebec.
We definitely had a 1.5 hr time change crossing from Quebec to Southern Labrador when we visited -
South coast falls under Newfoundland time, time changes at a town called Charlottetown which is more North-East!
@@theRTWguys Yes that's correct. Quebec does not observe daylight savings so in the summer it is 1.5 hours and in the winter it is .5 hrs in difference.
It's not laberdor, it's Labrador
Good to know 😃
Turned around... sad...
What happened?
8000 years? According to the bible, Adam was created 5783 years ago at the time of this reply!
LOL
Been there done that.......but was looking forward to a review. I didn't particularly enjoy your attempts at humour. and not sure the dog added to your presentation. A lot of talk and not much substance.
LOL thank you for your comments 🙏
