    Omg you’re home. What a wonderful series. I’m from Town, living in California now. So wonderful to see you and your partner featuring all the things we grew up with. All the traditional foods and even the Dominion’s run - loved it so much. I believe you were at the Stavanger location. My go-to before I moved.
    My friend here is thinking of going to NFLD next year and has been chatting with me about it. I started in telling her a few things. And then she found your videos and sent them to me. Now I’m out of a job! Lol great stuff b’y. Keep sharing. You’re better than a THH22M series!

    Great video, and wonderful views of my beautiful city! Welcome! Even on an RDF day, St. John's is gorgeous, in my humble opinion. I've lived here all my life, and I appreciate every Jellybean Row House, the Narrows (the very narrow channel that is the entrance to our extremely well-protected harbour), Signal Hill, The Rooms, The Battery, Fort Amherst, Cape Spear ... all of it! And, oohhhh, that F&C-D&G (fish and chips with dressing and gravy)! And yes, it's always windy at Signal Hill and Cape Spear! Glad you enjoyed your visit!

    Michael, when I went to St. Johns in 64/65 I stayed at a place called Greens, it was a bar but had rooms on the side. It was up the hill about 3 blocks from Water St. Also there was chips shops along Water St, I think it was Mary's but that was 50 years ago and I am not sure. Sears had the only moving stairs and people from the outports would come to ride on them. Cap'n Rick Port Of Lewes, Delaware (Christines Dad)

      @@theRTWguys Am I wrong to think that outdoor swimming pools and sunscreen lotion aren't that popular in NL?

    • @UTOBEDUDE
      @UTOBEDUDE 3 роки тому +2

      @@mathewlee5712- outdoor swimming season in Newfoundland is short - mid june to end of August in a normal weather year. There are outdoor pools around, both public and private - but not many people have them privately- for the reason mentioned - (weather). Also, there's no end to the number of rivers, lakes, ponds, ( and OCEAN ) where a person can go enjoy a swim. The water at all these sources is crystal clear, cool, and contaminant free - it's perfect water - and it's everywhere !
      As for sunscreen - mid-june to mid august is when it's most needed. The central and western portions of the province seem to get more sunshine hours than the eastern , northern and southern portions. In the central and western area, a blue sky and sunny kind of day can bring temps of up to 30-32 C. - with the average daily temp for july being about 24 -26 C. Newfoundland is surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean - the weather can change in 5 minutes- without warning ! Generally speaking though, the summers in Newfoundland are quite beautiful , and more times than not, there's a nice breeze blowing. Be warned though - when visiting coastal areas, always have rainwear and/or a light jacket nearby. With the right weather system, sometimes the temperature drop from 30 C to 15 or 16 C in the time it takes to smoke a cigarette.--- and cold rain can sneak up on you rather quickly also ! Come visit us sometime !!!!

      See that's funny, a bunch of people I know here in nfld go to places in the south of the US to escape the cold in the winter 😂🤷 ..but you were right about the hot somewhat. Only the worst of our summer days are something a Southerner would be complaining about if they came here. I don't think it's too much of an exaggeration to say that 90% of the days of the year are too windy to be any type of "too warm" in lol. Then there's the beaches and lakes/ponds.. they're everywhere on the island so it's super easy to have relaxation even on the worst of days. Be warned about the wind though folks... A normal day might include wind gusts that are above half the strength of a hurricane. Some times of year when it gets stormy, it can be hurricane strength windy without even being a hurricane. Make sure you have the good stuff if you wanna record some nature videos. Because that wind noise will ruin it alllll if you were hoping for the normal good stuff that your iPhone is normally capable of 🙈

It's a popular folk song that is often associated with the province's culture and heritage. The lyrics are in Newfoundland English, and the song captures the spirit and humor of the local traditions. You come from Newfoundland but never had dressing on your fish and chips? I've never heard nor seen a Newfie not having dressing on theirs. You also lack any kind of accent or dialect, do you have family from Newfoundland, because it honestly doesn't seem like you are from here.

      When we visited, every restaurant where we had fish and chips offered dressing and gravy.

      Regarding dressing on fish and chips, it's possible that personal preferences can differ even within a specific region. People might have various ways they enjoy their meals based on their own tastes and experiences. Thank you for sharing your perspective from Newfoundland!

      @@theRTWguys well your vlog contained the history around the false belief that raising cash to fight cancer was a good idea. In fact you may as well light your cash on fire than to donate to cancer research. At least then you could retain some heat from the fire.
