What would be an appropriate reward for the alien blaster? I think it would be cool if Casdin realized that the Lone Wanderer had a knack for locating good tech and offer's a squad to follow you around to help you look for stuff.

I would have liked if the outcast had the paper the enclave has in the end. Imagine them trying to take control of project purity to make sure it's not available to locals. Instead of the enclave trying to get the purifier from you to use it for the same thing you were going to use it. The religious paralelisms with the waters of life thing would also be a nice tie in with the fact that the outcasts are a schism from the brotherhood, much in the same way the crhistians divided into catholics and ortodoxs during the Great Schism or Schism of 1054. Being that the Brotherhood of steel works as a religious organisation.
In the Outcasts armory they have a few Alien Power Cells already. Which is useful if you're running low on ammo for it. You can also pickpocket the weapon back and sell it back to them over and over. There is also a unique Alien Blaster called the Firelance that has a very rare chance to spawn in a random world event with it crashing down from the sky with a bit of ammo.
Dogmeat is also useful for getting any ammo or the Firelance if you can't find it, as well as getting the Alien Blaster before starting the DLC if you have it installed.

@@milord8005 I found him naturally early on in my first playthrough as a very good character my morality at a point was even called Saint or something like that and I had no idea of how you find him I don't know what you are talking about I guess there some type of quest or something I don't know about which in base game no dlc I did every question and takes the moral high road at every turn so I don't know what you are talking about unless I am forgetting something

After my last run in fallout 3 I realized that Casdin is basically 3's version of a Sierra Madre vending machine. And yeah I know 3 came before Vegas I just mean in terms of game impact.
Something F3 doesn't get enough credit for. If it weren't for F3, New Vegas would've never existed. They didn't come up with all the ideas but they laid the groundwork for the systems to work and coalesce from what it was into something more.

Here is a hidden secret. If you enter Fort Independence, in one of the storage rooms, on one of the shelves, you can find alien blaster ammo. That means they most likely already have some alien technology
Probably not news to anyone but there's some remnants in the files of a cut quest centering around the Outcasts and alien technology. Not much info on what it was about but its neat to see what might be a remnant of it left in the game.
would be kinda cool if you brought them enough tech and they were like "you are best guy. you find stuff that not even our patrols find, so... we invite you to be honorary member of the outcasts. key word being honorary.".
They actually sorta do. Once you max out your reputation with them they let you keep Outcast armor you find and you're permitted to enter their base and walk around without any trouble, and their tone towards you shifts to being a lot more positive and just considering you an Outsider instead of a "Wastelander" or "local wildlife."

Problem is that their updated script is glitched (because they programmed it under a faction name that wasn't implemented well like "Oucastfriend" instead of Outcast) and so you don't get to hear them correct their attitudes. Fortunately, mods and unofficials patches fixing this issue does exist.

May other people missed this but 12 alien power cells for 11 frags not terrible if it keeps that up. I normally finished mothership zeta dlc with 500 rounds if traded in theory 440 frags worse case you just double your money doing this if you don't plan to use the alien blaster to begin with.
Feel like trading with the outcasts is only useful once you start fighting the enclave, because you can get a lot of suits and laser weapons once you start racking up those kills
In an obsidian game, handing this level of technology to a faction would likely shift the entire balance of political power around. Overpowered weaponry, alternative energy sources/storage. The Outcasts may even consider a more direct approach in regards to their conflict with new, beefed up weapons and armour, or blackmail smaller factions into relying on their new, high tech generators. They may also launch an expedition to the UFO and make you the head of it. I know it's an easter egg to some degree, but it really shows the difference between Beth and Obsidians writing. Bethesda doesn't understand consequences.

It makes sense, outside of gameplay the alien blaster still functions as a normal one shot pistol and the brotherhood of steel tell you to your face that the enclave have gear and weapons that can cut through brotherhood armor. 20 frags is a fair price for the lone wonderer who is overall a scavenger and constantly fighting raider strongholds, super mutant hideouts and wildlife nest because realistically the alien blaster is only useful through gameplay, a rifle will do you way better, if super mutants and enclave are that meaty big guns or energy weapon rifles should be your first choice and you do not want to rely on the short range of a pistol / alien blaster if you can unload an entire chinese rifle mag or fire and forget a rocket on an enemies position vs wasting precious / limited shots of an alien blaster The outcast are giving you what would benefit you in the field, stempacks, rad-away, frags, mags and the outcast will do more with the alien blaster technology then the lone wonderer will.

Still haven't played 3 past megaton, all these years later, but considering like 9 months ago is when I first played New Vegas to completion, I'm glad I haven't.
going from new vegas to 3 is pretty hard, NV tops it in every way. However 3 isn’t a bad game, definitely some good stuff in there. The Point lookout DLC is great also.
Fallout 3 doesn't have to be Bad - and it isn't - for New Vegas to be Second Place, which it is. Fallout 3 is admittedly inferior in many, many, many regards, but there's a lot of fun to still be had, and I'd recommend a playthrough.

Coz their elder deviated from the tech hoarding mission to keep the super mutant threat in check and protect the locals. Outcast didn't like it and went rogue to continue the brotherhood's original goal and only save locals from hightech stuff.
Everyone is having a giggle at the awful trade at the end, but I'm more disappointed in the Voice Acting. He sounds bewildered for a good second, then is all business again. It would have been kind of funny if this gritty and tough, Power Armored Rebel were bumbling over himself trying to understand just what in the Hell he's looking at.
The game honestly gets way too easy after trading with the outcasts. I played the last part of the game and the broken steel dlc while being over the carry capacity. In the end got like around 1200 stimpaks.(not all from the outcasts) And that's with the fact that you cant sell hellfire armour and the tesla armour.

After you find the Alien Blaster, if you don't have Mothership Zeta, you should be able to turn in the Alien Scoutcraft.
