    Rebecca Ford is a great host, and much better than the british guy who interrupts everyone. She should host more of these.

    • @hombregatoooo
      @hombregatoooo 5 років тому +19

      Some of those interruptions are actually edits. They make it look like he's abruptly swinging to another guest more often than he actually does. When people give answers they often take one more circle around articulation than they actually need to, so the edit features the main point and hides it with a ball pass to another guest.

    • @christopherspringmann
      @christopherspringmann 5 років тому +3

      @@hombregatoooo I agree about the editing. First, I'm here for the conversation and repartee but also the technique. Two things: How long is the actual session vs. the TRT 60:00+ program? 3-4 cameras, fixed and mobile? You can only do so much with cut-aways in editing. I admire the editor's work - tough gig.

    After researching more about Feige to understand this man wanted to be a filmmaker.
    He applied for USC not one, not two but six times before he was accepted and started off wanting to be an intern just so he could be around movies.
    He loves films and he's intently listening to all these stories and is taking notes. They may take shots at him but now he has a seat at the table and now produced the highest grossing film of all time.
    I'm proud to know that he helms the MCU and if he's guiding the ship than we are in great shape.

      This is why I feel a little defensive of the dude when people attack him.
      Also, as Ethan Hawke just pointed out, yes, he’s incredibly powerful, and successful, but he also has used his power to lift other people up, and that alone makes him worthy of recognition and respect.

    Watching this interview and I just love how much Kevin Feige really takes this stuff seriously. Yes it’s comic books and it’s larger than life characters jumping round in costumes, but he really believes in the source material and doesn’t deal with it lightly. Even though I don’t love all of the MCU films, I will always have great respect for Feige for not letting these franchises become simple toy commercials.

      The great thing about it is not one of them can downplay or talk shit about him for making Comic movies in any way. Dude’s making billions with it and he has taking part in changing the perspective on comic book movies. Now the ones who laugh at people for watching comic book movies are the sad minority.

      Arguably the most central and critically important ethos passed down from Stan Lee, "it needs to be grounded and believable. Just because they have super powers shouldn't make them any less relatable". A people first approach, which is why Marvel properties (DC as well) have dominanted for half a century, and will exist for many more to come.

With billions of dollars at his disposal, and blank cheques for the forty other films he's quietly slated. They must all secretly despise him. 😂

      I think that is an incredibly important point … his productions are typical of the last 5-7 years where we are being flooded with big budget fantasy genre nonsense … "why make only 3 or 4 of these when we can flood movie theatres with 20+?"
      p.s. Black Panther being heralded as something other than a relatively weak comics hero action film!!? for god's sake … grow up! its not an 'important' achievement and frankly belittles the genuine and necessary achievements for black movie makers. infantile and pathetic.

    I like the host, and it's awesome to hear from these extraordinary producers, and they're all so personable and pleasant, but I don't find a few of these roundtables to be as insightful as they could potentially be. Some great questions were asked, in particular, the question regarding the MeToo movement. But on the average, I was hoping we would get a bit more insight into what it's like being a top Hollywood producer, in the hopes that aspiring film execs/filmmakers can learn what it takes to be just that. That said, here are a few questions I wished would've been asked so we can get better and more detailed insight into what it takes to produce these critically-acclaimed Hollywood films:
    1. Where and how did you find funding for the film?/ How did you get the film greenlit? 2. What were your meetings with your specific director like? 3. What was your biggest obstacle during production/principal photography and how did you overcome it? 4. How did you become a producer? 5. What do you think makes a great producer?

      Feige is the worst … he's a corporate accountant not a film maker or artist. his presence here and his talking with pride over that rubbish Black Panther (God people, pls grow up, that's not an important or even decent film) when compared to others brought up in this circle, makes me roll my eyes

      devlin7575 lol, You literally reply all comments which praise him. Such a pretentious and ignorant person. Superhero movies don't necessarily mean they're bad movies.

    • @devlin7575
      @devlin7575 5 років тому

      MarshallValentino ‘Ignorant and pretentious person’ OR ‘ ... mean they're bad films’ ... Do make up your mind as to whether its me you don't like or my opinion as a filmgoer with an interest in film making.
      ps I remain firm in the opinions I expressed (we've been drowned by the 20+ films of this genre bc accountants are acting as film makers and this is starving too many film makers from other genres of funds).

    12:43 "what the world can follow through." What? Dude, just for your information in Europe you can watch Asian, African and South American movies on national TV and movie theaters. Sometimes even in Multiplex. I understand that it is an issue in the US but don't assume please. Art moves quite freely in Europe. Day to day life is another question but you are not leading the way.

      Obviously we in the states have plenty of access to international media as well, in theaters and on TV (in populated areas). He's talking about high budgets and billion-dollar returns, which is very different.

    • @cinemacola6398
      @cinemacola6398 5 років тому

      @Elliepopcorn I just think screenwriters are the most interesting ones out of all of them. Producers are just the providers of the money for the most part.

    • @cinemacola6398
      @cinemacola6398 5 років тому

      @Elliepopcorn I've studied cinematography, Directing, screenwriting and pretty much have worked as all of them on multiple films and shorts. Writing to me is just a lot more interesting. Cinematography and how they build the shot is cool if only your Roger Deakins or someone who has amazing cinematography. Other than that, not really impressive. I don't mean to sound like a hardass, just my thoughts.
