Any chance you could tell me what my last name Alibozek translates to in English? It’s been extremely difficult to figure out seeing how I don’t speak Polish.
@@polishgirlnextdoor8447 thanks for the reply I really appreciate it! But surely is must mean something? Bożek means little god, I’ve been told by family members it means god of gods but they don’t speak Polish. Been told by others it means god willing. It’s just the first three letters I can’t figure out because Ali supposedly isn’t a word in Polish.
Your name has 2 parts "Ali", and "bożek". Bożek is obvious- little god (in the same way as dad - > daddy, bóg (god) - > bożek). The second one "Ali" is more tricky- its probobly form polsih female name- Alicja. Etymologi is not 100% sure, but it can be virgin, wing, or truth. So your name can mean "Truelittlegod" , "Littlegodswings", or "Truelittlegod". "Ali..." has nothing to do with english "All"
@@Kiszpanable Thank you for your input, I appreciate any help I can get. It’s been a pain in the butt trying to research this. The story I was told by family members is that one of my ancestors fought in a war or battle and they had a victory parade afterwards, the people cheered Alibożek for him and that’s how we got the name. Obviously I have no way of verifying that though lol.
Fascinating - thanks!
