    Fun fact: boomerangs were independently invented in almost every ancient culture, not just Aussies

      @@aubreelewis355 Believe it or not they were invented independently by cultures that had no contact with each other. Its just a highly efficient hunting weapon that multiple people figured out across the world

    Convergent evolution of human ideas. People have made the same hunting tools across civilizations with and without direct contact. Some were reverse engineered and others were created independently
    This includes boomerangs, rabbit sticks, axes, spears, knives, swords, bow & bow like objects, and armor.

    Just curious 🤔 did you kill that rabit with the stick or is it one your harvesting from your herd?
    Guess you could kill from ur herd this way too...did u kill it with the rabit stick or some other way?

      That’s rule number 1 for novices. You’d be appalled to see how professional carvers carve spoons.

      I assume slowly removing material, testing how it flies, and repeating until it flies straight and level

      Probably real. It's not to hard to do honestly. Just gotta practice your aim, and have a nice throwing stick, boomerang style or just a straight round hardwood stick. It's an old way of hunting small game.

      @@jamiesprout2710 Truthfully I don't remember ever having tried but it is such a useful and necessary skill that it should be part of every man's repertoire. I'm old now so it probably wouldn't help me much but for a young man it would go a long way.

      @@DennisLock-x8f lol I'm getting up there my self. I made a bucket from oak. It came out great but I tried you undo some rope and retwist it back for a handle a big knotted mess 🤣. Definitely not as easy as it looks.

      I'm not him, but I've been successful before. Much more so with snares but I've taken a few hares with rabbit sticks

      Not at all? The oldest known boomerang was found in a cave in Poland and was made of mammoth tusk, carbon dated to be around 30,000 years old

      They literally carved these out of ivory (the densest organic material) 20,000 years ago in Poland, with flint tools. They’ve carved them in Australia for at least 60,000 years from some of the planet’s densest hardest woods. Ancient man was just as smart as we are today, and far more adaptable as we are so coddled these days. Flight aerodynamics were old news when the wright brothers started experimenting to make the airplane

Do you think someone just happened to stub their toe on a stick that is a perfect boomerang, got angry and picked it up and threw it exactly right the first time and it was directed at an animal, and they knew the boomerang would return despite not having the knowledge of the science behind making one?
