Fun fact: boomerangs were independently invented in almost every ancient culture, not just Aussies
One group of people invented them, and everybody followed
@@aubreelewis355 Believe it or not they were invented independently by cultures that had no contact with each other. Its just a highly efficient hunting weapon that multiple people figured out across the world
@@aubreelewis355 not really, most of them didn't interacted with each other
@@bennettsprague4804 kinda like the pyramids, many cultures, very separated from one another, used a similar method because its an easy shape to build
@@elcatrinc1996 whatever make you feel better
Convergent evolution of human ideas. People have made the same hunting tools across civilizations with and without direct contact. Some were reverse engineered and others were created independently
This includes boomerangs, rabbit sticks, axes, spears, knives, swords, bow & bow like objects, and armor.
Yeah but Batman had a Batarang. Not a Batastick.
Dude that cedar rabbit stick was gorgeous !
Psa. Don't cut towards your hand like that. Maybe you can pull it off, but maybe you'll slip and give yourself a nasty gash.
Juniper is such a beautiful wood. Definitely underrated
seems like a very useful skill to practice
You made me want to get a boomerang
that’s sick🔥🔥
that's stick!
I used to make these all the time. I’ve only got one rabbit on them before though.
Love the vid
Cool
Just curious 🤔 did you kill that rabit with the stick or is it one your harvesting from your herd?
Guess you could kill from ur herd this way too...did u kill it with the rabit stick or some other way?
He definitely killed it with the rabbit stick
Could just make hunting frisbee's. 😉
cool
They also invented it to
I made one today. Wasn’t to hard at all. Thanks.
How do you "tune" a rabbit stick to fly straight?
Ok. The heck are you doing cutting towards your hand. That is rule number 1
That’s rule number 1 for novices. You’d be appalled to see how professional carvers carve spoons.
That rabbit was hit by a car.
How do you tune in a rabbit stick
make sure it don't sound like a banjo ya get my drift
I assume slowly removing material, testing how it flies, and repeating until it flies straight and level
Wow, so hey I was wondering did you for real get that rabbit with that "rabbit stick," or was
It staged to be a clever attempt for getting a photo??? I'm hoping it's not the latter....
Probably real. It's not to hard to do honestly. Just gotta practice your aim, and have a nice throwing stick, boomerang style or just a straight round hardwood stick. It's an old way of hunting small game.
Every man should be proficient with at least two primitive weapons. And basic fire and shelter skills. And don't forget gathering and water collection. 👍
@@jamiesprout2710 Rope making wouldn't hurt either...
@@DennisLock-x8f I do struggle with that one.
@@jamiesprout2710 Truthfully I don't remember ever having tried but it is such a useful and necessary skill that it should be part of every man's repertoire. I'm old now so it probably wouldn't help me much but for a young man it would go a long way.
@@DennisLock-x8f lol I'm getting up there my self. I made a bucket from oak. It came out great but I tried you undo some rope and retwist it back for a handle a big knotted mess 🤣. Definitely not as easy as it looks.
@@jamiesprout2710 👍Yeah it looks tedious, but if it gets bad could be a very valuable skill.
Question. Have you ever been successful with one of these?
I'm not him, but I've been successful before. Much more so with snares but I've taken a few hares with rabbit sticks
@@rosshugecaulk thank you. Awesome news
Food? Food comes from a supermarket, everyone knows that! 😉
Not australia invention this is a Tamilnadu invention created by chola's
It’s been independently invented in many cultures around the world. Would be impossible for just one to claim they “invented” it
🗿
Bro yes they are an Aussie invention Aussie aboriginals is the longest living culture of anywhere in the world
Chinese brought them to Australia in their wanderings around 3500 BC...😉
Not at all? The oldest known boomerang was found in a cave in Poland and was made of mammoth tusk, carbon dated to be around 30,000 years old
@@unclebaba3463 I was joking if your comment was directed towards me.👍
That rabbit was asleep? 🥹
I think snare would be better tool for 🐰
First 🎉🎉🎉🎉
You must rely alot on luck
that shit wont even hurt me all it will do is piss me off
Good thing you’re not a rabbit
It will hurt, trust me. You're not as special as you think
That will break bones easily 😂. You ain't Superman, buddy.
Let him throw one at you then
Yeah, sure, Humans invented the boomerang in prehistoric times. Okey-dokey.
@dgguy6 yeah, ok.
People were not dumber in the past. You understand that right?
They literally carved these out of ivory (the densest organic material) 20,000 years ago in Poland, with flint tools. They’ve carved them in Australia for at least 60,000 years from some of the planet’s densest hardest woods. Ancient man was just as smart as we are today, and far more adaptable as we are so coddled these days. Flight aerodynamics were old news when the wright brothers started experimenting to make the airplane
@@sagesmokesurvival Yeah, after they were taught, "Literally" by the fallen ones. Do you think someone just happened to stub their toe on a stick that is a perfect boomerang, got angry and picked it up and threw it exactly right the first time and it was directed at an animal, and they knew the boomerang would return despite not having the knowledge of the science behind making one?
@@sagesmokesurvival ""Literally" did it, no shite, sherlock, you can't do it: "Figuratively!"
