I am so thankful that I found this video. I ran into this issue this past weekend. After days of research and searching for answers and calling grand design multiple times. This video gave me the answers I needed as well as a great visual. Thanks for posting this video!
Awesome!! I'm just glad it helped you out, we ran into this problem as we were trying to leave a campground and needless to say we didn't pull out 4 hours past when we were supposed to. Very frustrating to say the least!! It's great hearing it's helping people!! Safe travels!
Had same problem luckily I found the 50 Amp but that was lucky. I will replace with 80 Amp and when I make video on this as a tech I will reference your video because you did a great job on this one
I have the same issues with mine. The jacks will extend but won't retract. I'm still investigating but not solved it yet. Thanks for posting this video. Be safe!
@@ryanbricker9668 An update, I now swap the wires/spade connectors on the front of the solenoid, then by pressing 'down' on the keypad, the motor retracts the landing legs! Way quicker than using a portable drill with the hex, on top of the motor.
@@glynpayne4393 YES! I also discovered using jumper cables on opposite sides of the motor will also lower or raise very quickly as well. In other words, turn your truck around and hook some cables up! Glad it's working out!!!!
Rick thanks I had some Folks come and look at my RV with Josh my wife and they screwed up my jack system and with this video I was able to straighten it out thank you much
Hey David, great to hear, I love it when the video helps people, I know how frustrated I was with the system! Especially being stranded at a campground pulling out to go home!
Thanks Ryan! I picked up a ‘17 399th last week and was having hyd power issues while boondocking the entire XC drive from Portland to NC. Wish I had found your video earlier!
Believe me I know the frustration. We were pulling out of a campground and couldn't get the jacks up! Needless to say, I wanted to make this video!! So glad it helped out!
Thanks for the video. Been noticing my slides have been stopping when I extended them. Saw this on another video but he didn't explain where the breaker/ bus bar was. I have already ordered the new 80 amp breaker. Thanks again. I will update if this fixes my problem.
I still can’t get it to lower the jacks. All I get is a clicking noise 1 time when I push the buttons. And using the drill isn’t doing anything either. I’m at a loss
I opened them like on your video and still won’t work. When I took the cover off of the connectors like shown in the video, you had 4 cables on each side with an empty spot. I have 5 sets of cables on each side with the same size breaker.
Also, remember to make sure all the valves are closed and you are only trying to manually control one or one set at a time, just double check the one is open you are trying to control, also make sure the power is disconnected.@@rebeccamitchell2760
So I have tried everything you suggested and I’m still stuck. I’d like to send you a picture of what mine looks like on the inside of the area that has the hydraulics
Feel free to send me a pic. I am by no means an expert, LOL. Have you checked any of the breakers inside the coach that may be tripped? Check also to see if any of the lines leading to the jacks may have come loose or have come off. There's a lot of troubleshooting, but it's hard to know without being there. You may try and call the manufacturer to see if they can walk you through something better than I can. I really hope you're not stuck at a campground like I was trying to figure this out.
Hey Jeff, Correct I only replaced the breaker didn't have to do anything with the buss bar. If you can see from the video you will see where there is an empty space where the old breaker used to be. Now the slides and jacks run just as smooth as can be. Good luck! I hope this helps you out!!
@@ryankbricker-statepolice-6023 I had same problem in my brand new Cedar Creek 311RL. I traced it from buss bar to my 100 amp auto breaker. It turned out to be a stick ing dual polarity solenoid for the hydraulic pump. Just tapped the top of it with the handle of my trusty screwdriver and my slides retracted and leveling jacks worked. Thanks for the video.
Unfortunately, I'm not sure what you're asking. I believe your electrical knowledge is far superior to mine. I just replaced the 50 amp with the 80 amp and never had another issue. Something that the manufacturers of the coach couldn't figure out, nor Grand Design help line. I no longer have the 5th wheel, hopefully the video helped!
Is that a thermal fuse? IOW, does it reset over time? We can extend slides and jacks but can't retract any of them, Just hear a "thump" and nothing. I'm having to retract manually with a drill every time.
Its an automatic reseting circuit breaker. So if it trips, after it cools off, it will reset itself. If there's a dead short it will continually trip and reset until the issue is resolved.
@@ryankbricker-statepolice-6023 thanks for your video! Replaced the short bus fuse to an 80 amp and it works. Plus like you said no lag in the retract. Before mine would stop and I would have to wait like min for the front leg to come up, than the same for the other front leg. Good video
TBH I'm not 100% sure as you can do it either way. Some of the research I did through lippert and other videos (including "electricians"), said to because the chance of being shocked, I also think because you may cause other problems. Yes, that's the same problem I had. Did you try it manually? Then look for the breaker that I had to replace.
I have retracted the Jack's manually but I can't find a bus bar or a control panel with a reset button. 2012 Redwood.

Hello how do you turn on that lcd panel for the hydraulic jacks, do I need a battery for the rv or will a 7 pin plug from a truck turn it on?
There should be a battery in the rv that powers everything. The battery is usually located where the generator is located if you have a 5th wheel.
Isn't the open terminal your using just another 50amp resetable thermal relay?

I honestly don't know. I ended up selling my 5th wheel. I tried to find my order for the fuse but I can't locate

My leveling jacks and slide won’t work right now. Did you have a clicking at solenoid.
Yes I believe there initially was a clicking sound, were you able to try any of the solutions in the video? It was definitely not my solenoid, fyi.

What is the importance of releasing the power harness before using the drill to manually extend/retract the jacks?
