    I can’t thank you enough for this video! You explain things very well sir. We picked our 5th wheel up hours away from home and had to get back so we didn’t get a thorough walk down of the leveling system. This video gives me so much more confidence. My biggest worry is getting ready to leave and the system not wanting to retract.

    Question for you…. Last time I tried auto level- the system lifted my wheels so far off the ground, I thought it was going to tip over. I made it stop and then manually leveled. The site was almost level- I do not know why it did it. I’ve since learned about recalibration- so I plan to do that before trying to auto level. Do you think it will take care of the problem? Second question- where is the best place to install level bubbles?

    • @Jonesin2Go
      @Jonesin2Go  3 роки тому +1

      I would start with a recalibration first. If it does it again I would contact lippert. It could be the sensor has come loose.( under the coach) As far as the level bubbles I have mine right by the level up controls on the side of the coach and the front so I can see them while manually leveling.

    Great video! Quick question, we have a Lippert 3.0 auto leveling 6 point system (electric) and had a RR jack error and found the issue. The system said to "retract all" to clear the code so we did while hooked up on the truck then we hit the auto level and it went through it's leveling procedure but the passenger side center jack didn't extend to the ground like all the rest of the jacks. There's no errors etc. and the system seemed to work fine, it just never did this before in our driveway.

    Thank you for your video. It was great and I subscribed. A clarifying question please. We just purchaseda 2018 pre owned Keystone Avalance. The Auto Level is great...however, when pressing the right and left to return to hitch height it didn't work. Therefore I did it manually. I beleive you are saying to rehook the truck and just do retract all, correct? Also, after I did it manually and we went to unhitch, the system said "Ready: Jacks down", but they were still up. Again I used manual. Did I miss something? Thank you.

    • @Jonesin2Go
      @Jonesin2Go  Рік тому

      Hook it back to the truck. Extend all of the jack down at least 6 inches then select re track all. This should clear any errors. Then try the taking it off the truck have it auto level. Before you try hitting the left and right and see if it will go to hitch level. But keep in mind if the it comes off the trick with the front lower than level than that feature will not work. It will have to come off the truck with the front higher than level.

    • @Jonesin2Go
      @Jonesin2Go  Рік тому +1

      that's a great question. unfortunately they don't work that way. the left is the lead jack and the right will only travel after pressure is sensed on the left. How i got around that was to raise them and then drop them again and just before the right touches lift them so the left just come up a little. that seemed to work for me. I am now learning a new system as we just took delivery of a new Montana that has Lipperts new Titan system. this system gives more options such as you were asking about.

    Hello Mr Jones,
    Do you perform a pull test when you hitch up? To insure the hitch coupled, we visually inspect the locking mechanism and apply the trailer brakes while attempting to full forward with no acceleration. Prior to doing this, we lower front jacks to a couple of inches off ground incase hitches fails. Thoughts?

    • @Jonesin2Go
      @Jonesin2Go  2 роки тому

      Hi Dan yes I agree a pull test is a great practice to insure the hitch is locked and working properly. Another good practice is to chock the wheels behind the rig so that it doesn't slide when hitching. Thanks for watching. Safe Travels

    • @Jonesin2Go
      @Jonesin2Go  7 місяців тому

      I don't know why it would do that. Would you
      be able share if this is a consistent behavior? At the end of the auto-leveling cycle, the controller goes through all the jacks to see if they are grounded. It looks for small changes in the angle. If a jack is 4 to 5 inches off the ground, it might be the auto level cycle was interrupted before completing.

    We have a 2019 Jayco Eagle 5th wheel. We purchased it new and this year, the first time out we had problems getting the rear jacks to go down. After resetting them a few times they decided to work. The last camping trip, everything worked great until we got home. We went to level our coach and the rear stabilizing jacks just clicked and would not go down. We got an error code on the panel that showed the right rear stabilizing jack was the fault. I checked all the wiring harnesses at the motor, they were clean and tight. We manually extended the rear jacks and then when we went to push the retract all button, all the jacks came up except the right rear. I pulled the motor from the gear box and checked the gear box and it seemed to be running smooth but when I turned the armature of the electric motor with my fingers, It was very rough and felt like there was gravel inside. Was not smooth at all. Am I right in thinking that the motor is bad and drawing too much amps? If so, can these motors be rebuilt somewhere since no one in Spokane Wa. will do them. Lippert wants 545.00 for a motor. If there is someone out there that can rebuild these motors, where and who? Am I right in my diagnosis or should I continue to look somewhere else. Can you be a little more specific as to what you are pushing and what jacks move?

      @@Jonesin2Go when raising left side front jack gies up middle starts and rear doesn’t. I have trouble with left side last couple campgrounds we have been at. I ended up retracting right side to get left to go up then have to reliever middle and rear on right. I don’t know if sensor has gone wacky and no I haven’t re zeroed. Any ideas and suggestions would be grateful Thanks

      @@jimgerman1231 that has me stumped. Have you called lippert yet? If not give them a call they have excellent techs that will walk you through some diagnostics. So call them when you can be next to your rig. In the mean time I will see if I can find something on this kind of problem

      @Jonesin 2 Go, thank you for such a thorough video on a subject that I just happen to be wrestling with. But first, I want to echo your praise of the people at Lippert. Wonderful and very patient. I have been dealing with issues with my 6-point hydraulic leveling system for months now. First thought the addition of fork oil would solve my problem, then battled with front jacks slipping when extending the hydraulic slides, which led to a replacement of the cartridge for the front landing jacks, then continued to deal with slipping front left jack while on trip, ratchet strapped, which caused front right jack to start slipping. Lippert coached me to tighten front nut of cartridge, (which seems to have stopped the slipping of the jacks), but which now is causing a fast clicking sound from the front left landing gear when lowering the front landing gear and experiencing my first big problem in getting the control pad to properly level when using auto level. Today I learned about recalibration, which now leaves me with “only” the problem with the fast-paced clicking noise when lowering the front jacks. Seems like I solved one problem and another one appears. We are on the tail end of a two month “vacation” down in Hilton Head and will be making a five day run back to WI. As you can see I feel like I am dealing with a crazy situation. Not sure if any of this makes any sense and would welcome any thoughts, especially about the clicking noise that I am now dealing with. But in today’s call with Lippert, the service rep was not very concerned about the noise. He felt that if the landing and leveling gear and the hydraulic slides are all working properly, I should be ok to get home. Would welcome any thoughts you might have on all these issues, but especially the clicking noise issue.

    Our site is not at all level. We have it the best we could with the auto leveling system… but I’m wondering if it’s possible to raise one jack at a time to be able to put blocks under individual jacks without hooking back up to the truck?

      Not one at a time you can do left or right. Or rear which will bring all 4 rears up.

    Got my new Sandpiper parked in the driveway last night after dark. It’s morning now...still hitched to truck and buttoned-up. F’ing Lippert system has a fault and I can’t clear it. 5th wheel currently useless.

      Is it a voltage problem? Could be the breaker fuse.

    For a 40min instructional video, it would help if you use chapters to timestamp different sections.

      It could be that you sensor has come loose. Have you checked that it is secured tight. It should be located on the frame near the center of the rig. You have have to drop the under belly material to find it.
