I think it would be cool if you allowed yourself to build 1 raven in this challenge, but you can't use it for anything but anti-armor missile, it's just so satisfying to watch marines with upgrade advantage absolutely shred units.
On the 2 reactors into tech lab build: If you hide the second reactor barracks somewhere on your side of the map. The Marines staying hidden to flank an attack or for a nasty timing. Don't need to proxy close to their base, just needs to fool them into thinking your army is half the size.
This definitely can work against Protoss. Hidden marines on map can just walk into natural unnoticed. I remember Polt tried a more advanced version by hiding 2-3 rax on the map for a marine marauder timing but he died cause Rain (ironically given how he's typically a defensive player) did a void ray all in against him.
I would also suggest looking at Harstem's superfast infantry upgrades for bio. He did a video where he made the engi bay right after the barracks, and had +1 finished by 3:30 or something. It seemed to work quite well! some food for thought maybe
TLO, back in the beginning of WoL, had a 6 rax strategy. He would scout of Zerg had an expansion, and then put 5 more Rax and just pump out marines non-stop. Of course, this was back in the day so many changes (such as Mules) have happened, but something like a "surprise - 12 Rax 2 Base all-in" should be interesting. You can even set those up very close to the opponent for faster reinforcement, and practice your micro skills ;)
At 20:26 you could have moved that barracks closer to the bunker, so that when the adept came to attack the barracks, it would not find it and think you flew the barracks back home.
i played mostly during wings of liberty right at launch and i seem to remember making combat shields before stim every game. not that i ever progressed past platinum league, but it just made more sense to give my marines more health than drain them before i had medivacs. however maybe that's why i never progressed XD
Last game I can answer dat question. The reason he never made a second colossus is because he's going for the 1 colossus challenge instead of the 1 Ultra challenge
Idea for a map like Stargazers: Stack two SCVs and send them to scout, once your opponent is not looking you split the SCVs, one acts the scout but the other one builds a proxy in that free base. Or, send three, two stacked, the third one builds rax near the free base to be flown there later and the split SCV builds a bunker there straightaway.
Bad, it just turns into the drop only challenge again. You basically have to push a basetrade with multiprong and never fight his army. 200 supply of marines cant beat 6 colossus with carrier overhead unless you split functionally every marine enough to avoid splash.
Unless you got micro-jackson or else you should be dreaming on defeat, especially with zerg has lurker, baneling and infestor which has potential to kill marine almost instantly
Wondering if you would do a "mindgame to GM" series. Basically, you are required to trick the opponent in some form or way. Dunno if it can be pulled off easily, but that is for you to decide whether it would be fun;)
Since you're only using Marines, you could call it Government Cheese. (For the record Government cheese was a thing that used to be provided to low income familes in the USA as part of a nutritional assistance program. And that's why it's a solid pun, at least in the US.)
You’re second game, what you could have done and send the SUV into the mineral line act like it’s a normal scout while sending the second SUV towards the barracks for the bunker
Would it be possible to have marines as 2 command groups, and stim the back line early in the game, while the front doesn't stim? Might be stupid, just curious listening to you talk about using workers in front of stimmed marines.
you could stim 40 out of 50 marines and have improved dps only for those 40, or you could have 50 marines and 20 scvs, while stimming all marines and losing none of their hp while scv are alive
Not efficient, it takes too much apm to effectively hamstring your dps. The faster you enemies die, the sooner they stop shooting you. The extra hp only matter for things like tank splash, face tanking banes and colossus. All of these things are better dead though, and stim gives a speed boost as well as fire rate so getting on top of these things faster is better than eating an extra shot on slightly meatier marines that dont shoot too good.
Honestly, I love the idea of you being allowed hero units: You can make only one of any unit not marines but only one of that unit. Just seems kinda cool as a concept.
Speaking of timing attacks, I've wondered for a while if doing a Supply Calldown in the early game would help you to hit a timing attack, especially in the case of Marines. I know that they're pointless in the late game since players just build a bunch of Orbitals and PFs, but I very rarely ever see them used even in the early game by most pro players, and I wonder if there's any potential there.
I would love to see a Norse inspired attempt to get grandmaster. You can only build Scandinavian named units: Marauders, Thor's, Vikings, Ravens. The catch, is that you can only deploy what fits into a longboat (medivac). Treat the low grounds as the ocean, so no early scouts until you get medivac.
is really enjoyable to see all u challenge with marine, ghost, hellion/raven etc but i don't see a lot of thor! i wonder if u can make chalenge with thor (with other unit) to grandmaster in one of your futur chalenge ?
Hi Uthermal what do you think of TheCore layout? It seems most of the gameplay habits are layout-agnostic, so you regain your former speed after like a week of playing. Interested to hear your thoughts and analysis.
Player at end lifted their colossus because they wanted to blink the stalkers out and knew that would cost him the unit so this was his solution, it didn't work out.
@@echofarm5237 Yes, slowly, it'd be the last to leave and the Marines would have killed it. They were hoping to get it out then blink down, but lost the dropship.

For your bunker cheese you should stack the scvs then split off one when out of vision, to make it look like on scv scouting.
I would also suggest looking at Harstem's superfast infantry upgrades for bio. He did a video where he made the engi bay right after the barracks, and had +1 finished by 3:30 or something. It seemed to work quite well! some food for thought maybe
