The guy could have done so much to counter it, he had overlord speed, scout out to see he is only making medivacs and marines, as soon as you see that, you have to immediately prepare. Heck, the very beginning of those drops should have alerted you to the tactics at play, he just stayed stuck at Lings and Banes. Overlord speed for nothing.
It's not even really the pro-level micro, it's the pro-level APM. He just wasn't physically capable of responding to all of the drops and buckled under the pressure.
The fact that you can commentate while microing 4 marine drops and managing production back at your base is the most impressive thing ive seen in months.

Subscribing to this channel has been a lot of fun!. I got on board in the early days of the bong cloud challenge, I haven't missed a video since. Keep up the amazing work!
I remember doing this challenge and beating someone's mass colossus army (something like 11 colossi) by some really sick srround. The marines really do better than you'd expect if they're staggered.
“Where did my Medicaid go, did you guys seem them”. No, I didn’t I can’t track two, let alone where a dozen flying in 6 directions are. You are amazing.
the whole build for a map thing is spot on, i have pretty much a handful of builds i just do at random, it would be cool to see some kinda quick video on each race for what they should look out for
3 CC, Early Gases. 4 Racks, two tech. 2-2 W/ Stim and combat shield ~6-11 min timing. No one beats it. Timing W/ Medvacs an option depending on early game and your spacing on the build.
Next episode, make barracks everywhere, and send your little buddies on foot, make marines charge at them from everywhere at once. Let us see this Terran Swarm in action!
Thermy: Huh I must have moved it into his army, my mistake! *Meanwhile on the dropship* Pilot: Alright boys, we've received the order. We're to move to C8 and drop you boys into the enemy's resource line. Marine Commander: C8? But there's 3 Carriers, 3 Colossii, and a massive army of Stalkers there! Look, you can see them from here! *points out window* Pilot: *THE ALMIGHTY ONE HAS SPOKEN AND WE MUST HEED HIS COMMAND*
Glad your enjoying the game man, sc2 can be wild if you have the creativity aspect, some people like the mechanics and it's usually the easiest way to win, and some people like making their own strategic playstyles instead of what's "the best" If you ever wanted to watch some higher level games, you might like Gumiho the Terran player, he's always trying something new it seems, Cheers
that control group at #24:16 Look at the dot moving across the map :P he comes into vision at #24:44 at the bottom of the screen and at #25:49 he shows up safely at home.
yep i got outplayed bad. (i did not know it was uthermal and his mass marine series) he did a good job preventing me from maxing and force me to attack at the end.
I have a challenge for you. The hardest one yet. No Hotkeys to grandmaster. Build whatever you like but no hot keys. Might be impossible will all the reflexive training you have…
@uThermal 33:50 you are talking about builds for low level players... I have been gold for 8 years and treat it as a game (no practice, no training, no idea) I just do the same build over and over against any race any map, then do another one over and over. I do all the things that you're not supposed to, sometimes works, most times doesn't. But I have fun. The concept of learning specific build orders per race and per map takes all the interest out of the game for me. I will be happy to sit at my natural league of silvery goldish. Thank you for all your awesome content you SC2 legend. -)
Genuine question, why don't you target the pylons? Killing them shuts off their structures, decreases their supply by 10, and can set a protoss player back by the building time and cost of a new pylon, a worker can easily replace them for 100 minerals a piece but spawning independently. You force them to spend 200 mineral for 10 supply and no protoss I've played guards their pylons. I played against photon rush in pvp and he made no supporting units to strengthen the weakness of protoss, protoss want everything running, all the time, if you turn off an important pylon they have to wait the entire time for their pylon to be built again for every structure not built, it adds so much time to getting started and running to fight a proper macro game. When I've played against any player that can effectively deal with my early defensive set up designed to deal with cheese: 1 zealot, 2 stalkers, and a shield battery with a photon cannon set up on ridges or anti-cheese spots for vision, I get set back extremely far if not lose outright and end up getting eco'd to death or I give up too much of the map and have to fight very close to my base with limited resources and any pylon that I leave unsupported I'm constantly worried about because if I'm already behind and you supply cap me and add more time to structures, it becomes unplayable. Instead I see you target workers first, I would think targetting buildings would be more important, you can take away upgrades, can't you? If you know what they look like and what they do you can discern the importance of buildings and prioritize them. The non-attacking bases should be the lowest priority in an attack, it should be like: army units, attacking bases or turrets, pylons, hatching zerg units, gateway/barracks/factory/roach warren/etc. Currently in production, upgrades, workers, gas structures, non attacking bases, everything else. I'm willing to ask a stupid question so that I'm not stupid afterwards, if anyone can answer I'd appreciate conversation.
Wasn't there a pro player that did mass marines but built a marine train. Lots of barracks that kept training Marines non stop . Been many years since I seen it. But I do remember it being a thing.
You should reach out to some of these players after and explain and commend their effort, could get you more viewers and fans too 😇 I felt really sad for the protoss... since you'r following very strict rules and are actually trying your hardest to rank up it's not really "smurfing", especially in the later episodes, salt in or near the grand finale is hilarious but earlier games kinda tugs my heartstrings 😅 Always great videos dude! Such a nice and humble attitude and great commenting 👍
About the builds debate: I don't even execute one build properly, so I end up just focusing on doing a generic build someone showed to me so I can get a little bit better mechanically, I don't know if I would be able to train as well with multiple builds, but it is worth the attempt
Those missing 2 Medivacs from 24:16 were the ones that dropped the natural and downed that first colossus 🤣Plz give them them the medals they deserve 🤣RIP those marines though
His confidence level is above the charts. "Oh no a gazillion zerglings are entering my base, yeah hmmm, I'll just lift here, lift here... done, survived." DUDE, freak out!
At least in BW if you clicked on the mass centre of all the dropships they'd do moving drop as a group but it's really hard to figure out where that IS.
I know it would be very hard to transition to that level with another race. I do find that these challenge are more intersting to me with caster units. So see Templar or viper play would be intersting. I also understand d the reaso he can do these strays is that he is a pro Terran player and being pro with another race is no easy feat...unless you are reynor lol.
How should a person counter those 3 or 4 drops at a time moves? Would defensive turrets help? Defensive tanks? Anticipate them and pull the scv's passed some defensive tanks?
Air control with anti-air units at each junction that leads to your base plus passive defenses. Vikings, phoenixes and mutalisks/corrupters should do the job alongside with turrets/cannons/spores. Your target should be killing medivacs before they can unload. Even just a couple of medivacs jull of marines lost is already a significant disadvantage to someone who plays with this handicap. You don't even need to have a better economy to win such a matchup, your opponent can have two times more resources and still lose because it's easy to counter marines alone.
As a diehard 40K Imperial, please could you use any colour other than the rich purple? The Emperor's Children Chaos Space Marine vibes are just too heretical. Unless Marc is secretly a devotee of Slaanesh 🤔😳
That poor zerg made pretty much no mistakes, but was helpless against professional micro. I hope they see this, and know how impressed we all were
100% I thought he played extremely well I’d be proud of that gameplay

A 10 minute hive against aggressive Terran is silly.

If you're tired of drops, just make Phoenixes. Such underused units that totally dominate mid game, giving you harassment and air control.

25:15 those 2 medivacs that you couldnt find will therefore be counted as "Missing" instead of "KIA".
Or maybe they deserted.
There is a legend that those two squads landed on another map in another game, thus helping Clem to win against Serral

The challenge is incredible ! The multi-tasking, the drop,s the fights, everything is great

And if so why did you retire?
yeah I wondered that myself before.. why did he retire from professional starcraft..?
Green and black will be cool for next color
Super cool !!!
Very nice
Hi, ut) I've been wondering if it is possible to unload medivacs on move without clicking on each?
i dont think so =/ at least not a good one the pros klick on each one im pretty sure
Probably theres rapid fire on unload
At least in BW if you clicked on the mass centre of all the dropships they'd do moving drop as a group but it's really hard to figure out where that IS.
Against colossus, can't you just drop or collapse on either side of them and just gun them down, since their beam can only attack one angle at a time?
They still blast marines if they have any cover.
30 marines vs 3 colossus and any amount of support is still a hard fight even full 360.
That last Protoss is a Naruto fan, so he deserved everything he gives himself :p
