While the surface looks smooth the diffraction grating sheet actually has micron-scale grooves you would see under magnification.
Luckily silicone will pick up these TINY grooves and then even pass on to whatever we choose.
Chocolate is really cool to use it on as well. 👍

So first of all, thanks for the short commercials! I have a few things to share with you. I like to use scotch clear tape to hold down my resin tape to the surface I am using. Really smooth surface works well. Also, I have double sided sticky beading mats that keep the tape from moving, no shifting or fingerprints. Works well. As for the flaws on you pendants, that just an excuse to attach something over the flaws;) I like to add one resin piece on top of another and I do it by putting a small amount of resin on the back of the piece to add. When dry, if there is any gap, I coat the whole piece with a smooth dome of clear resin and it fills and smooths it. Thanks for sharing your project!

    • @AlpineArts
      @AlpineArts 2 роки тому

Good advice, the only thing is you can’t dome over the holographic side because it will affect the appearance, from what I understand. I haven’t used the holograph molds yet but I do have some so I’m trying to learn all I can about them. 🙂

I really love these!! I love everything you do. I've been following you and watching all of your videos for 3yrs now and I love everything you do and I love you how you do your videos.
My suggestions for this video is that you could directly place the bezels onto the silicone sheet or instead of placing the sheet onto the resin, you could also just pick up the bezels on the tape and flip the entire tape with bezels over on top of the silicone sheet! Just a couple of suggestions, otherwise I really love these!! Oh one more thing before I forget, (I already almost forgot) lol; but anyways... the heart piece that over flowed; you can save it by taking a hand- held blade and peel it up off of the metal frame almost like you did on the sides with your fingers and if you couldn't really get it to cone out good, you can always just cover the back side with resin and fill in the loop on both sides and put a magnet on the back of wet resin, turning it into a beautiful refrigerator magnet!! There are usually other solutions to saving pieces you didn't originally intend making by turning it into something else that would be beautiful instead of just throwing it out!! 😉 love your work though; you make so many amazing things!! I just wish you could show us how you make all of your molds 😉 😉
Here soon; I will be joining the utube resin tutorial world and hope you will follow me and see my creations in the making as well!! 😉
If interested... keep an eye out for Craft Diva Treasures!! Love you resin college!!

Rub your stick or another tool along edges of each piece. Then press the piece down. You can also try to lift each piece with a bright light, looking for areas still needing pressed. Great pieces I can make for my son in law who macramés glass pendants for friends.

I'm sure you've probably realized by now, but, to clear things up a bit... The circles at the top of the molds that went in 2 different directions was done so that certain ones will fall correctly as earrings, and the others will fall flat against your neck/chest for a necklace... 😉👍 But working with the "earrings" can be difficult because they don't lay flat against the tape easily...

Next time just don't press on the silicone for the purpose of removing any trapped air bubbles. With the silicone covering the entire surface area it essentially creates a seal. With it being sealed, there is nowhere for any trapped air bubbles to go when you push on them, except for down into the resin. It wouldn't be a big enough air bubble to push the silicone up so it can slide out. 🙃 They turned out great 🙂

LOVE these, Julie! They're wonderful! ❤ You are so clever, the way you figure things out! I love the way your mind works!
I don't know how this would affect your HOLO sheet, but...maybe you could place the bezels directly on the sheet (where the HOLO would transfer to the back and show through to the front)? Probably have to use translucent colorants for that, though. Hm. I know you'd have to press the bezels down into the sheet a wee bit. Do you think that would leave a permanent imprint and ruin the sheet? Boy...more questions than suggestions, huh?

I used it to create a frame around a canvas using tape then on foam board both leaked in places even with masking tape but it's very useful I just need to tweak my methods 👌

Such lovely results. I don't know if this would be feasible but before adding the resin maybe use a cotton swab (Q-tip is the most common phrase is USA), to add a thin layer of baby oil or Vaseline to the outer edges of the bezels. That might keep any overflow from pulling on the edges when you remove the excess resin. I don't know what I expected but the pendants are lovely. Almost mesmerizing. Sadly since anything touching the surface would mar the special effects I wouldn't use it for jewelry. It could be part of a sun catcher in a window but I wonder what impact heat and direct sunlight might have. With the heat index it was 106⁰F here today. As always I look forward to seeing your next projects.

If you're careful, you can cover the imperfection on the gold teardrop with a semi precious stick on jewel. Something to add more interest to the shape, and design. As they are, simple is good if you can get away with it, but for tiny flubs like that, a smidge of embellishment goes a long way toward making it a keeper instead of a reject. 😉
These are all lovely! I think you could get away with resting these blanks on the silicone itself since it is so soft, it might resist bleed-through barring miniscule imperfections in the blanks. You just have to be careful how quickly you add the resin, keeping an eye out for any funny business.

@@kazkazd111 I don't think we are allowed to link things here, but here is an item "name" that I searched for to find mine.
"Chenkou Craft 1 Box 6 Colors 1800pcs Open Jump Ring & Ring Jewelry Keychain Making with 1 pc Jump Ring Open/Close Tool and 1 pc Clear Box (6mm)". That should get you started for looking. It will bring up all kinds of different kits with different color and size options.
