They DO know you can save a lot of time by alerting Robotnik using the second controller, right?
That's in the PAL build. In the NTSC build, they disabled it so players couldn't skip it.
They'd have to censor it because he turns to face the screen and you have to start the level over because Sonic throws himself in the nearby spike pit after that happens. That's why it was cut in the western release.
It was only cut in the North American release. In the European release they just had to change the tattoo on Eggman's testicles from a swastika to a wrapped present, due to German law.
That only gets you a customized GAMEOVER scene where Dr. Eggman uses you as a luffa. It's cool the 1st time, but loses its appeal pretty quickly after that.

Ugh. Now I'm seeing Robotnic using Sonic to "really get in there" and I'm mentally scarred.
Important to remember that Tails can sequence break the easter egg by taking a picture and throwing it on the Eggnet, instead of traumatizing Sonic it absolutely destroys all respect the Eggman army has for him and in the process unlocking Robo Sonic for the player to use hope this little tip helps!

I already knew this one, has been around since before I came out of the closet. Protip: if you wait for the drill critter to come back, he has found robotnik's soap, which has a coin-size hole carved in. When he asks about it, you should press B to lie or else he will crawl under your shoes before you can finish the explanation.
Still amazes me players finding secret levels in old games in plain 2024! Awesome!

Wtf. My genesis caught fire while robotnik was washing his butt and singing old show tunes.
I think I preferred the dorkly-canon tightie-whitie eggman.
You know something you missed is an additional little secret that makes the game even harder to beat. When Sonic encounters Eggman taking a shower, hold down on the directional pad and repeatedly tap C on the second controller. If done correctly when Eggman washes his butt you'll see soapy fart bubbles rise up. It doesn't seem like anything special but later on in water stages you'll find Sonic is so traumatized by the fart bubbles he will refuse to breathe from the air bubbles. This makes it far more challenging to beat any water stages.
Fingers crossed Timmy gets adopted. Pouring bleach in my eyes after this was my call, so Timmy I hope you get a good home.

I always had trouble getting the right amount of gravy for sonic to spew in the special stage. It always got me.

My cousin helped me unlock this when i was 12. You havent truly beaten the game until sonic looks THAT defeated!
Robotnic knew he was there, he was trying to tempt Sonic over to join him in the shower. Why else did he wash that ass so many times, he was being a tease. He didn't want to pretend to drop the soap to avoid being too obvious.
I LOLed for 5 minutes over the entire “Robotnik shower” dialogue before I made this post 😂😂😂
So I guess this is what gamers discovered during the time Sonic WASN’T for hire.
I remember finding this Easter egg as a kid but I've never been able to find anything about it online so I was starting to think I just dreamed about it but here it is!

what is amazing is that i can tell it's an animation by the literal first frame of sonic walking. (i mean, ignoring the 4th wall break before it). the correct acceleration is engraved in my mind
We all know that does not happen in the games itself but it is pretty cool, HEY You Should Make A Mod That Has all of those thing you said, like a mod for super mario bros 1. and sonic the hedgehog, this could be the best idea.

We went into the weird/impossible bits a little earlier here than in the Mario one. At least this one had a payoff and we weren't just stuck in an empty room by the end. Though Sonic might prefer that to watching Eggman shower.
