Love these just to rock . If you're into an olschool feel, go with 1010s. Wear your true size and break em in .
Definitely dope that newbalance keeps their flagship models made domestically. Unfortunately numeric is not, but still worth buying into imo. Got me hype on collecting shoes again 🤪

Love the videos dude. I kind of get tripped out when people say that the big brands are the best. You can find some great stuff out there from the core brands, you just have look for the higher end stuff.
I feel like you and really enjoy a shoe that has a good balance between board feel and protection. I think slim cupsoles are the way to go. Right now I’m really looking forward to skating some of the emerica figgy G6 shoes. The original shoe was great, and I loved the g6 sole when I skated the Reynolds g6 a few years ago. So if you’re into them, they might be worth trying out.
I also have a little hack with super glue. I also don’t like ruining the clean look of my new shoes with shoe goo or super glue. You can actually keep the look and still improve durability if you’re careful with your gluing. Use super glue with a fine point applicator. It also has to be the liquid kind, not the gel. Then carefully squeeze out a tiny bit of glue and dab each stitch. The stitches absorb the liquid and get hard. As you go, just try to touch the stitching and not the shoe itself. If you take your time, you won’t even be able to tell they’re glued.

It really comes down to the model of shoe and what you want out of your shoe. Recently, I've started skating FP Footwear's Intercept and it saves my feet. Younger me loved the Portmore II's for its great board feel.

    • @thatgurl453
      @thatgurl453 Рік тому +2

Same. FP Intercept is good for wide feet under impact. It flexes with your feet but doesn't marshallow out like a half cab. Kevlar laces required for the intercept but it's w/e

I think it depends how much money is focused into the technology/quality of materials. Core or corp, as long as the company focuses on the skate feedback and enhances the tooling technology and upper, then it doesn't matter if it's core or corporate.

If you use superglue on the seams sparingly you won't see it at all. Especially once it's gotten scuffed. It's a must for new shoes in my opinion, especially if they have lots of stitching like you're pointing out.
I have been riding some Fallen Tremont cupsole mids and they definitely have a break it but I am really digging them. Tons of life on the sole, which is a problem for me (and I know you've said it is for you too in previous videos). And the outsole and upper are durable enough, especially if you superglue them. I do get shoelace rip issues, which I also use superglue for. And I don't flip my board a ton, so a skater who did might have even more problems. And on top of that, Fallen isn't skater owned anymore. But these shoes were on sale for $40 so I bought a second pair and will skate them again once I've wrecked these.

I just bought some new balances as well actually. They are the slip on Jamie foy shoes, and they were more stiff and kinda hard to break in a little bit, however there ok not the best I was kinda a little disappointed to be honest. My favorite shoes are addidas and vans. Addidas are way more comfortable and grippy. And the same w vans I never have to worry about them being stiff or plasticy. Been wanting to try last resort though those shoes look 👌. Sick vid my G!!

Ngl new balance being cool. Trips me out. I remember being a kid in the 2000s and associating those white new balance shoes with w the previous decade. I always saw them as retro shoes. But not in the cool vintage way but more in the that’s so last season type of way. When new balance became popular among skaters in the 2010s I was flabbergasted to say the least. My friend loves NB and has the same shoes as this video. I tell him all the time he reminds me of jerry Seinfeld especially w his tight pants on

I'm playing with shoes recently for the same reason as you stated. I tried the waffle cup vans a few times and they fall apart and still hurt my feet when I land flat. I have a NB 306 foy color way now and at first I hated them because of board feel even though they are vulc. But after some break in and shoe goo I love them and they are lasting longer than vans.

I personally use mostly old worn out shoes that I thrift. Soemtimes I buy second hand ones online, which are usually as good as new ones and just sold because some non-skater bought them and than realized later that he or she maybe didn't like them or has to many or whatever reason. right know I am using a vans pro on my right kick flip "flip-foot" and a nike on my left. Ones the Vans is gone I use the second nike. I just don't like the idea of ruining brand new shoes and creating a lot of trash. Cheers.

I have a pair of NB numeric 379 and love the shoes. Took awhile to break it and there’s a toe cap, and still hanging strong. Not like my vans high top pros which are falling apart. Next up is Lakai, I have a wide foot and it has space where it doesn’t feel like the shoe is tight. What’s annoying is the band that stretches the tongue on one foot than the other. Just annoying for pushing.

Best shoes I ever had were DC Mikey Taylors, but they don’t make them anymore. I’m currently skating some Nike Ishods. They’re pretty good for the most part. My only complaint is that they run a little tight on the top of the foot, but maybe that’s just for my foot.

  • @pscaught

I tried Nike when I got back into skating in like 2016. I was pretty disappointed with the durability, felt like the soles got worn out just walking around. (Maybe they're better now.) I found some adidas skate shoes at a thrift store and could tell immediately they were going to last way longer. Bonus because they were cheaper to buy new than Nike as well. Been buying various adidas models since, but I will say the most annoying thing is that they discontinue products all the time, so it's a hassle trying to find a new model that works for you when they discontinue something you like. Hopefully new balance is better about that.

  • @jarredhewitt2361

So skating threw the mid nineties till now. I started with cup soles. And prefer them till this day(tho I will skate both). With cup soles you get durability and protection. Skate shoes did get out of control padded in the mid 00's. It was like skating in moon boots. But we never even considered "board feel". When the vulc trend came into full effect around the 15's it seemed like, all there was was vulc shoes. And I really felt like "board feel" was just a way to market the shoes that are cheaper to make and break down faster. Causing you to buy more shoes. But at any given time there should be a variety. Because different styles of skaters have different needs from their shoes. I prefer a cup sole that has mid padding, lace protection, and some tech. To me that is the best type of skate shoe. They look good, last, offer some protection, and they aren't so obnoxiously huge. But that's just what works best for me. Go skate, don't hate🤙

I wear half cabs, and I love 'em!, but a pair only lasts me a month, I'm goofy and always blowout my right front big toe until I rip through my sock and skate my foot! But the rest of my shoes COULD last at least another week or two before they get stretched out, what do you think is the best way to fix a shoe in that spot, I have a friend with the same problem who shoe goos a quarter in that spot in the toehole, thats insane to me, but he skates better than me like that all the time! I was just wondering if you have a better way, I know I'm not the only guy with this problem! Maybe my problem is I blow through shoes! Thank you man! And...Much love BTW! But if you got a sweet fix...that'd be way sweet!

I think skaters don’t seem to remember that core brands want money as much as a corporate brand. Both have the same incentive: make the best product and brand image to get buyers. And ethics in buying is tricky. A bunch of skaters clearly supported Trump too.
And skater owned is a misnomer. Tons of the core brands have outside investors identical to big brands. All tricky, just buy what makes you happy!
