Ephesians is an "In Him" Letter

- Ephesians is an "in him" kind of letter. Paul continually stresses that everything God has done for us has been accomplished in or through King Jesus. As Paul says elsewhere, all the promises of God find their yes "in him." Discover why Paul places this idea at the heart of his letter to the Ephesians this summer.

So true and well said. One God, one creator of all things, one Savior, Jesus Christ our Lord, and ONE kingdom, the kingdom of God, and ONE religion of that kingdom.

Thank you from Florida. Your explanation adds so much depth to my understanding when I read Ephesians. And thank you also for your “Romans for Everyone”. That set the train back on the tracks for me. Everyone should get a copy.
How encouraging to hear your feedback! Thank you so much for sharing this. In addition to the "Romans for Everyone" popular commentary, N.T. Wright also has several online, self-paced courses on Romans you may enjoy: www.ntwrightonline.org/courses/ We'd love you to learn more with us! --NTW Online Team

Watching from Oyarifa Ghana,Mobile Season
Hello from the N.T. Wright Online team. Thank you for tuning in from Oyarifa, Ghana!
I like that you called out the title of "king." Thank you. Makes me think also of Israel wanting one-and God's response (1 Samuel 8). And Pilate's questioning of Jesus affront to Roman authority, "Are you the king of the Jews?"
A most unusual King, who allowed himself to suffer the hatred and cruelty of his people to the point of being crucified naked in full view of his enemies. I point this out lest we think of him as a king in our worldly ways of power, competition and dominance. Our King emptied himself of all rights to worldly power and was obedient to God to the point of death. It was his humility which made him Lord and a humility which remains forever for he has promised to never leave us or abandon us. His glory is his unfailing love, the unfailing love of God.
Thank you for sharing these beautiful reflections. Truly, who is like our King? It is through such humility and love that love overcomes. --NTW Online Team
When I read Ephesians I always identify the "you/your" pronouns as Gentile believers, and the "we/us" pronouns as the Jewish believers. Not sure if this is correct, but chs. 2, 3, and 4 seem to suggest the coming together of Jew and Gentile into one body, fulfilling the promise given to Abraham.
