I like your take on men having self control. It drives me crazy when people either elude to men having zero self control and that being normal or I find it especially egregious when people turn around and make women responsible for mens lack of self control. I’m Nigerian-American and Igbo (the same tribe as Chidi) and a lot of what Rayne does both physically and verbally is very disrespectful and distasteful. Something as simple as putting your hand in someone’s face (✋🏽) is as strong as giving someone the middle finger. To yell as Chidi’s sister in her own home and then tell her to shut up IN HER OWN HOME is something abhorrent. Rayne’s behavior and entitlement and absolute disrespect should not be tolerated. This seems to be a common response to the video. Which is a little disheartening to me, because I thought I put a lot of effort into always saying "but this behavior sucks, Rayne's unhinged, the sister is justified" every time I tried to see Rayne's side. I agree I shouldn't have said dark energy though - what I really thought was "well, the sister DOES seem like she may not like Rayne, even if she's being very polite and welcoming". I certainly don't think the sister is evil or anything. To be clear, I'd be incredibly uncomfortable having Rayne in my house after the market situation. @@james_rush that is what he said but I see it as the typical "it's not you, it's me" (trying to let someone down by making it about yourself). This woman is nuts and crosses boundaries. With him being blind, her pressure to go to a hotel is even more stressful for him than the typical man. If she were to cross boundaries and make him uncomfortable, he would be in a strange location where he has nothing memorized and he would be unable to just drive away. Basically, I see it as his disability makes him more vulnerable to abuse or other unsafe situations if he were alone with someone unsafe.
I think the 'blood rushing' argument was an excuse, Chidi couldn't tell Rayne 'I don't wanna go because you will be persistent into me breaking my vow and boundaries' (we see how Rayne is persistent to have the answer/action she wants and no other thing is possible). as a blind man, it will be very hard to read Rayne, and negotiate with her if it's just the 2 of them at a hotel. This type of excuse is meant to make Rayne feel full of herself , by thinking he doesn't wanna go because she's so unresistable, when in fact he feels that she won't respect his boundaries and try to persuade him.

I share the same faith as Chidi and so does my husband and we did take that vow. It’s a very normal thing to say what he said and it doesn’t imply him being "an animal unable to control himself" but rather we are human beings and weak in our flesh. I love Victoria, Chidi and his family don't deserve all the crap Rayne is giving them, they opened their home for her, did everything they could to make her feel comfortable, and accepted only to be treated very disrespectfully. Rayne is right up there with Ed, Angela, Loren and Brian.
She was love bombing him when she apologized. Telling him everything he wanted to hear. She brought up spirituality because she knows he's religious and uses it to manipulate his feelings for her. Then she uses the same thing he values to mock him (gaslighting)(devaluation). She likes his blindness because it makes her see him as more of a vulnerable victim. The more reliant he becomes on her, the more control she will have over him. Rayne doesn't like the sister because she feels the sister is hindering her ability to have full control. Everything has to be her way or else she turns psycho. She degrades people when they speak their truth and projects her own mental health issues onto those who stand up to her. Rayne is giving serious narcissistic vibes.
After the initial horror wore off, I realized I recognized the traits in Rayne. I knew a guy who was constantly paranoid. He had the most bizarre takes. Once he had an opinion about someone, it didn't matter how many people disagreed. It was gospel to him. I didn't realize how damaging it was to be around him until it was time to cut ties. They're a real energy drain. In her case, like a lot of people on this show, I think she sees Chidi as more of a thing than a person. She doesn't like the sister touching her 'thing.' I also think she can't handle the rejection, and it's trying to make sense of why he is resistant to be alone with her.
The entire time she's just been trying to cross his boundaries and isolate him, when she couldn't she became increasingly angry and unstable. A REAL good example of WHY we need boundaries; they're meant to weed out people trying to violate them. If she hadn't shown her cards early on imagine the situation he could have actually found himself in if she was successful in separating him from his family?
7:53 the way that baby is looking at her- he knows somethings off 😂 Chidi was smart to not say no outright until he got home. She’s unstable and he’s in a vulnerable state- he needed the backup of people he knows and trusts. My hope is Renee gets the therapy she needs. For her kids, for her family but mostly for herself. I feel for her because in her delusional state her everyday must be scary and lonely. Nobody should live like that especially when there’s a way out.
Maybe it is different for men than women, but I need to feel there is something interesting, redeeming or worthwhile in a person and also I need to feel a connection to that person before I feel the desire to have sex with that person. Perhaps Rayne is not giving any of those things to Chidi. She is coming off erratic, and acting like a three year old when she does not get her way. That type of behavior is not endearing, it is red flags to run for the hills. Everything she says and does is creating a picture in Chidi's mind of who she is. Notice how Rayne says that Victoria would talk to her before she came and told her that she loves her and wants her to be part of the family, meaning Victoria has cared about her and accepted her. I think it's important to see Rayne in terms of disregulation and distorted thinking, no doubt from a lot of trauma growing up. If you think of what she's saying as coming from a child towards her parents, a lot of it makes more sense. It's very sad and scary to see this level of reactivity.

This seems to be a common response to the video. Which is a little disheartening to me, because I thought I put a lot of effort into always saying "but this behavior sucks, Rayne's unhinged, the sister is justified" every time I tried to see Rayne's side.

The more reliant he becomes on her, the more control she will have over him. Rayne doesn't like the sister because she feels the sister is hindering her ability to have full control. Everything has to be her way or else she turns psycho. She degrades people when they speak their truth and projects her own mental health issues onto those who stand up to her. Rayne is giving serious narcissistic vibes.

After the initial horror wore off, I realized I recognized the traits in Rayne. I knew a guy who was constantly paranoid. He had the most bizarre takes. Once he had an opinion about someone, it didn't matter how many people disagreed. It was gospel to him. I didn't realize how damaging it was to be around him until it was time to cut ties. They're a real energy drain.
In her case, like a lot of people on this show, I think she sees Chidi as more of a thing than a person. She doesn't like the sister touching her 'thing.' I also think she can't handle the rejection, and it's trying to make sense of why he is resistant to be alone with her.
The entire time she's just been trying to cross his boundaries and isolate him, when she couldn't she became increasingly angry and unstable. A REAL good example of WHY we need boundaries; they're meant to weed out people trying to violate them. If she hadn't shown her cards early on imagine the situation he could have actually found himself in if she was successful in separating him from his family?
If the roles were reversed, rayne as a man would so be canceled. I knew she was crazy when she was talking about her chickens lol

Chidi was smart to not say no outright until he got home. She’s unstable and he’s in a vulnerable state- he needed the backup of people he knows and trusts.
My hope is Renee gets the therapy she needs. For her kids, for her family but mostly for herself. I feel for her because in her delusional state her everyday must be scary and lonely. Nobody should live like that especially when there’s a way out.
Maybe it is different for men than women, but I need to feel there is something interesting, redeeming or worthwhile in a person and also I need to feel a connection to that person before I feel the desire to have sex with that person. Perhaps Rayne is not giving any of those things to Chidi. She is coming off erratic, and acting like a three year old when she does not get her way. That type of behavior is not endearing, it is red flags to run for the hills. Everything she says and does is creating a picture in Chidi's mind of who she is. The whole thing about Chidi being blind so Rayne could be with him had to leave a negative picture in his mind, coupled with her nagging and flying off the handle all the time then apologizing- it is not good.

But Rayne it's too delusional to see that admitting this contradicts the whole "she's always hated me, I knew there'd be problems" narrative. I think it's important to see Rayne in terms of disregulation and distorted thinking, no doubt from a lot of trauma growing up. If you think of what she's saying as coming from a child towards her parents, a lot of it makes more sense. It's very sad and scary to see this level of reactivity.

And we now know that they weren't even dating when she went over to see him lol They had been split up for several months- but then TLC called and Chidi said he would help her get on the show - i don't know that they planned specifics out - because he obviously did not expect to have sex with her. i think chidi just scared being alone with rayne far away from his care takers and can't tell her that, imagine you can't see and with rayne the whole night, with her anger issues and cockoo way of thinking, that's very scary, theres a lot that can happen in just one night

Also I think Chidi said the whole excuse about "I would break my celibacy" because he simply did not feel safe alone with her in unfamiliar place, which would put him in a very vulnerable position. Even using a hotel bathroom he is not familiar with could be stressfull, but being alone and reliant on Rayne? Not after these couple days.
