I think because we often, as the viewers focus so much on whether they would like each other physically, we forget the part where they fall in love with each other. Nick loves Hannah, so the flaws we see in her are not the same way he sees them in her. I do agree that Nick should be aware that he has power in what he chooses to accept or not, but I do think we should be careful to not be victim-blaming in what is clearly a verbally abusive relationship.
Also, Tyler is their father. Not the "sperm donor". He abandoned them now though. Hasnt seen them since he left for the show. He owes a shit load in child support. He is their dad.

My parents taught my brother how to cook, clean, manage finances, maintain and respect boundaries in a shared home, empathize, and conflict-resolve using compromise. He isn't perfect because my mom did have some internalized misogyny that affected how she parented a son versus her daughters but overall, he was taught how to not be a helpless and unhelpful leech. guys the donor thing is SO much more messy.
