Hmmm, there’s always someone who has to be critical and negative. From my perspective, I believe you create a nice balance between your experience riding different roads and the sites you encounter. Those that need to criticize and “nit pick” your blog/vlog, need to take a 60 plus day road trip, pack a ton of video equipment, do editing at the end of each day and put the finished product on UA-cam. Excellent job Crag. Another informative and entertaining video👍
I love that part of the country! I have only ridden as far as Devil’s Tower, WY. I had been to Sturgis, SD twice and it was probably one of the most beautiful places, I have ever visited.
Yep, cross-winds and semi-truck "Bow-Wakes" an interesting combination indeed! Loving this series! My riding season starts in a couple of months (sigh)
The hat looks great, heat takes the fun away and those side winds I've experienced 60 mph on route 66 AZ. with nowhere to pull over. You might need a day off riding. Good coverage of your trip!
Ice cream, Dr Pepper and a hat! A man after my own heart ;) What was the road into Sioux Falls? And did you find out what the deal was with the Storm Trooper? They must have been cooking in there.
I took 20 into Souix City, called the Outlaw Highway. Very nice ride through rolling farm land and some wet lands. The Stormtrooper is just a guy who does it for fun. Rides his bike up there and hangs out.
I live in SW Kansas....wind country, lol. I tell people I can take a headwind or a tailwind but when it hits you broadside.....no thanks. Truck wind adds to the white knuckle ride as well.
I saw that when watching your videos. There was literally no one around when I was there and I could not see any campers or vendors. They had them hidden well...lol. One of these days we will finally meet. You want to ride to Alaska next year?
@@LivingOffTheSlab lol as it happens my plan was to do New England next fall (2023), release a cook book in 2024, then do Alaska in 2025 (so I can save enough money) lol (also you didn't see anybody because we set up in the "high end" Rv camp area in the back of the Chip, you had to go through where the bar is, and go for about a quarter mile down the hill to get where they set us up this year, it was SO much better than last year when we were closer to the bar, I think they also did that for security so if you didn't buy a ticket it was harder to sneak in)
Sounds like you have a busy schedule. The cookbook sounds fun. If you get to New England, let me know, that is my home turf. You are welcome to camp in my backyard or we even have a guest room...lol. Things get busy during leaf peeping season so book ahead and be ready for wide ranges in temps. I have some great routes, so just let me know what you need.
Kevin got home safe and sound. He ended up riding all the way back because he could not get a flight out as quickly as he wanted. Everything is good at home. Thanks for asking!
Just some critical thoughts on your trip. Why pull a trailer if you are not primarily Camping. I imagined that you’d spec’d out Great camping areas and occasionally staying in Biker friendly drive up Motels Informative information for a bike trip. From your pre trip forum, I was expecting a lot more than delivered. One doesn’t need every meal your eating and ice cream cone, that gets boring fast. This trip was more about you than the trip. I’ve watched Alaska trip, so I’m speaking from perspective.
Things did not work out like we had originally planned. We were going to camp through California and into the plains, but with the heat and other issues, Kevin and I decided to scrap the camping during the second half of the trip. Then of course Kevin had to head home early. We were trying something new and it did not work out. As far as the way the trip was shot, appreciate the input.

Thank you, I appreciate the support!
Watching you ride through SD, brings back a lot of great memories.
Bikers are the friendliest people. I have met so many amazing people out on the road.

I look forward to each instalment - loving being "on this trip" from NZ.
Thanks for the video

Great content as usual Craig, new hat looks great!
New hat looks good!

For sure. Coming around a truck and getting blasted with the side wind is no fun.
I can just imagine eating ice cream with that beard and mustache. Lol That model BMW is known for being rough in the wind.
As I found out, there are a lot of things it is know for.
The Hat is very cool! Does it crush up in a saddle bag? Been looking for 1
Yes, it is crushable. Thanks!
@@LivingOffTheSlab got me one from Stetson. Carry it in my truck everywhere. Sure keeps my head and neck from getting sunburnt.
Love the hat.
YOU WERE IN STURGIS WHEN I WAS IN STURGIS and and I didn't know 😭
Lol I was at ADV Fest

A 100+ degree walk is good after all that ice-cream 😉
How do the engine sound affect your ears after a day of riding?
I wore ear plugs the majority of the time. The engine sound is usually not the problem, it is the wind.
Any update on Kevin?
Kevin got home safe and sound. He ended up riding all the way back because he could not get a flight out as quickly as he wanted. Everything is good at home. Thanks for asking!
Beautiful still pictures of the Black Hills. Why don't you have your wife fly out to you and you both ride back home?
It was just too hot for her. 90 to 100 all the way back home.

"Vape shit" aka drug paraphernalia if anything like NC. Smh
I was just looking to have a relaxing cigar after a long day and the "smoke shop" turned out not to be...so I was venting.
@@LivingOffTheSlab Well I have to admit even in these parts the vape shops at least has a few cigars. Lol
Around here too...I guess because it was in a mall they were tobacco free. Oh well, next time I bring the travel humidor...LOL.
@@LivingOffTheSlab is that those little double cigar tubes I see for sale at cigar and pipe shoppes?
@@TheTunnellTake I have a small 4 cigar travel humidor. Basically a plastic box with a humidification disc built in.
