I found this video helpful, but found it was not necessary to pull the washer out from the wall very far, disconnect the water hoses, use a spring tool or turn the washer on its back to replace the heater element/thermistor assembly. I also found there are two nuts on the heater, one to hold the ground wire and one to release the seal on the heater in order to remove it.

Great video - thank you so much -- I agree with @James Fanning in that you can just remove the top and front panels and do the work without tipping the machine over. Also just used plyers to give the spring ring a little stretch. It did the job -- that's the most important part! Also our LG washer was an older model and replace the heating element with a newer part with built in thermistor -- even though we had a separate thermistor the newer part still worked, just did not plug anything into the thermistor slot. Both parts were 120V and 1000W.

I didn't understand why you did some extra things like opening front part

4:40 you don't need screw driver to jack it up! just slightly hit on the top of bolt and it will loose right away

This video is hilarious. All you need is to turn the machine on its back and you can access the heating element. No screw drivers required 😂
