Yosi Berman the final boss thing doesn’t work for a movie. That was stupid.
Because some, perhaps even most, directors are so pretentious. They direct and/or write video game movies, yet act as though the source material is beneath them. Same goes for comic book movies. I think the original ME trilogy could be converted into a 6 season show, with each season covering half the worlds and missions from the games. S1 Finale: Virmire S2 Finale: Battle of the Citadel S3 Finale: Horizon S4 Finale: Suicide Mission S5 Finale: Rannoch(Or Tuchanka, either would work) S6 Finale: Battle for Earth. All they'd have to do is make the sidequests more flushed out for filler, and write a better ending, boom, you have a series. Non high art but as a monster fan I enjoyed it
I really wish one day I get to make a live action Assassin's Creed film. I have the ideas, the characters are my emotions, and I'm good at visual design.
Mortal Kombat was great but in its own way. It was such a controversial game it would of had to of been a cinematic masterpiece to of made a dent in movie purist opinions.
Killian Sebastian Craft As did I. It was an amazing use of animation to tell a compelling “after story” of Final Fantasy VII. Also, come on: who doesn’t love Sephiroth vs. Cloud? Those battle sequences were amazing
Advent Children is a sequel to a video game, not an adaptation, there was no Advent Children video game prior to it's creation. It's simply an original story thay continues the story from a video game
yeah, so have I. But i have never touched the video game sequel to advent children, Dirge of cerberus sounds weird, but its like what sega did to shadow the hedgehog. they took a character who is all edgy and dark, and made a shooter out of it, and the game itself it not great, the story had almost nothing to do with the og final fantasy 7, and the only part that interested me was genesis from crisis core is still alive. The other then that, it sounds dumb!
You know how there's B-movie cult classics? Like they suck and you know they suck, but whatever, you still like it anyways? That's exactly how I feel about Mortal Kombat, Super Mario Bros, the first Tomb Raider, and the Tron reboot. Everything else is unbearable brain-bleaching garbage though...
Hue Hue WHY THE HELL DID YOU BRING THAT UP I WAS JUST STARTING TO FORGET THAT THERES BEEN NO NEWS FOR IT(and the half life movie j.j Abrams also announced)FOR 2 YEARS!!’
Will be an ineresting concept, but also a risky one. Most of the games means solve puzzle and I don't think people will resist to staring at this with out geting bored
Nah...there are a lot of different potential takes on the story... They could easly focus on cave Jonson when he was alive..or make the puzzles more action orinted...
Assassin's Creed movie was not bad. Though the story was different, they captured the elements of the games. A second part is in the works, hope it will better
Remember: Even Mortal Kombat (1995) was a massive cultural success until ten years later when we looked back and said "Holy shit, that was actually awful".
Although you do have to give it to Doom the Doom movie wasn't half bad some of the characters in it were cool and fun to watch, Karl urban and the rock were great in that movie and some scenes like the first person sequence, the fight between Karl urban and the rock and the first shot fired by the BFG have stuck with me for years. it gets a bad rap but it it's actually pretty decent and much better than things like the tomb raider movies. Silent Hill sucked but I actually quite likes the original resident evil movie plus apocalypse along with mortal Kombat but I could just be looking back on them with rose tinted nostalgia glasses
I think if Hollywood wants to make an effective video game movie they must choose a property that's not convoluted with plot elements. Video games such as Punch Out and Rampage could work for they have little story beyond what's presented, allowing directors to expand as they see fit.
@Movie Sonic but did they make a squeal? no so now sonic is not a movie franchise so i will not respect the sonic movie it is a trash film in my opinion you don't have to take that personally
Why video adaptations suck: Writers/Directors/Studios have no concept of nor respect for the core content that are supposed to be emulating. Then they want to put that own "mark" on the product, leaving movie-goers with nothing that anyone ever wanted to see.
Movies cant adapt video games, but video games can sure as hell adapt movies

Mortal Kombat may suck, but Shang tsung is now iconic, and now it makes sure we remember it in newer kombats.
The only good video game movies are the ones with a bit of a different story, angry birds, angry birds 2, detective pikachu and sonic the hedgehog
HOLY HELL HOLY HELL RAMPAGE WAS ACTUALLY PRETTY GOOD!!!' I mean sure it ignored the story form the original game and did its own thing but there wasn't much of a story there in the first place, it I'd made sure to have fun with its premise with its amazing monsters and action scenes though! Non high art but as a monster fan I enjoyed it
It was as generic as an action movie could get, terrible villains, retarded military...
Arohk I agree the villains were completely pointless
IT WAS TRASH
To everyone who's all like: "IT WAS TRASH! POINTLESS VILLANS!" I say that this was just his opinion, and you should all respect that!
Wait...... Rampage was a game?!
2:33 "What an incredibly bold and ignorant statement."
Agreed. What he said aged like poor milk later down the line.
Does Tron count? It was great.
Aidan Yelsma it wasn't based off of a game.
Caleb Brazeau, yes it was
The original Tron, Tron Evolution, or are we including Uprising?
not a real videogame, the game tron was designed soley for the movie. there was no real videogame that it was based on.
Beggar Beggar, good point
I really wish one day I get to make a live action Assassin's Creed film. I have the ideas, the characters are my emotions, and I'm good at visual design.
Sounds cool. If you need help look me up. I'll gladly help.
Mortal Kombat is a guilty pleasure of mine. I know it's bad but I still enjoy it.
It's not that bad. It's more dated. It was good by 90s standards. Part 2 is a whole different story.
It's good
It's a year in the future and the new mortal kombat movie looks to be what was talked about in this video
Me too I actually like the original resident evil movie
Mortal Kombat was great but in its own way. It was such a controversial game it would of had to of been a cinematic masterpiece to of made a dent in movie purist opinions.
JUMANJI INTO THE JUNGLE is the best video game movie
Editerranean it isn’t a video game movie bc it isn’t really a video game
The movie played in an video game style
Scott Pilgrim all the way
Jojopogo you right
fairystail1 Scott Pilgrim was first a graphic novel, then a movie, then a video game
Its not video games at all
Wreck it ralph is a good video game movie
Yes, but does it really count though?
No it's just a movie with video game characters as part of the main cast
smokeyspade9 err. Wreck it Ralph is NOT a video game, it's some Disney-made BS
The movie wasn't based on a lot of real games. The main story revolved around video game parodies.
True dat
Lmao after hearing Kevin Hart being cast as Roland in the new Borderlands movie, I have no faith in the movie lol
Say psych right fucking now goddammit
A borderlands movie I got a bad feeling about this
Just realised after watching this so many times that all the miss fires are all the DCEU films proof the MCU is better
That's like comparing coke and pepsi
@@NotDuncan DCAU>DCEU
Next thing we know:
*Fortnite: The Movie*
Get that horrid sight outta here.
No god please no! No! No! NOOOOOO!
PetrifiedScrub that’s be the end of everything
Call of Duty NO, HALO would probably be a better movie then FORTNITE! but *I think* call of duty Modern Warfare would be a GREAT MOVIE.
@Lesi PlaysHacks thanks🇺🇸
I liked advent children.
This really aged well, after this we got sonic, sonic 2, Mario and FNAF, and soon we will have Borderlands!
Love these types of rant vids!!
Tomb raider doesn’t even have dinosaurs like the classic video games !
0/10
Wasnt it just in the first game?
You know how there's B-movie cult classics? Like they suck and you know they suck, but whatever, you still like it anyways? That's exactly how I feel about Mortal Kombat, Super Mario Bros, the first Tomb Raider, and the Tron reboot. Everything else is unbearable brain-bleaching garbage though...
"How did you get these clips on my tv?" probably my favourite quote ever
"I come extremely prepared for my arguments" lol
Still have hopes for that Portal movie...
While watching this I got an ad for a video game movie
Odom and Davis debating on the couch...classic
Remember: Even Mortal Kombat (1995) was a massive cultural success until ten years later when we looked back and said "Holy shit, that was actually awful".
The Mortal Kombat movie was a great success but I don't know why everyone hates it except annihilation and the 2021 remake they were bad
Now we have detective pikachu and the sonic movie
0:48 That pens actually really good from an ironic stand point in my opinion
Detective Pikachu started it. Sonic continued it. I have high hopes for the future.
Mortal kombat is gonna be good
Nah 2018 Tomb Raider started it
@@Sharpoodle no super mario bros started it
@@thetoomson lmao don’t tell me you genuinely enjoyed that movie
@@Sharpoodle no i didnt i hated that movie but it started the video game movie adaptations
4:19 That legit sounds like the Dark Souls of movies.
Or the Online RPG raid experience of movies, either one works.
When Your Dads Tries To Pick A Girls Makeup
Girl: Girl tries to pick makeup
Dad: what about that one
Girls reaction 1:07
I’m sorry Johnny but there is no cure
Can't believe that the first video game he mentioned... Was the one that seals the fate of Video Games Movies for decades.
Detective pikachu makes this video dated
J Dot and sonic
@@kevthacube7325 both video game movies are successful, hopefully more will follow in their footsteps
I think if Hollywood wants to make an effective video game movie they must choose a property that's not convoluted with plot elements. Video games such as Punch Out and Rampage could work for they have little story beyond what's presented, allowing directors to expand as they see fit.
you heard of the synopsis on the monster hunter movie?
This aged poorly, and then was ahead of its time. We were so close.
What about wreck it Ralph?
Not based on a videogame. Only has to do with videogames
@Skyla Hoffman yeah, NOW it's a real game. But the game didn't exist years pryer to the movie
Guys, it’s a joke, yeah it’s a video game movie, but it’s not based on a specific video game.
@@mynameisharry8739 it did exiat before the movie loom it up
I agree with everything said, I just think doing it as a skit was cringy and distracting.
Pirates of the Carribean or Mission: Impossible recap rap next please
2:07 *Both Red Dead Redemption games beg to differ*
“ video game movies are so bad “ Sonic: are u sure about that?
Too bad the movie sucked
@Movie Sonicif a movie makes a lot of money that doesn't make the movie good
@Movie Sonic Your Point Being?
@Movie Sonic Sonic is not a movie franchise they only made 1 movie
@Movie Sonic but did they make a squeal? no so now sonic is not a movie franchise so i will not respect the sonic movie it is a trash film in my opinion you don't have to take that personally
5:52 The Sonic Movie
Remember sonic?
Yeah he's coming back with a better design I hope.
Why video adaptations suck: Writers/Directors/Studios have no concept of nor respect for the core content that are supposed to be emulating. Then they want to put that own "mark" on the product, leaving movie-goers with nothing that anyone ever wanted to see.
