Thanks Larry, there's always something to look out for at this age, and I'm fortunate to have had lots of practice at this one. It can still bite me on the backside now and then, so can't relax too much, but I'm really pleased how well the Portuguese experience is helping things along.😃

You have the most beautiful narration voice.
… and yes, diabetes 1 people are doing better in warmer climate, it comes with more exercise, fluid intake and better nutrition.
I’m so glad you can already see it.

Jane here - Thanks for the kind comments about my voice. I did do some voiceover work a very long time ago, but it's been fun starting to do it once again on a more regular basis

That’s wonderful news Phil, thank you for sharing your health with us.
Your Portugal journey is good for your health and suits you both.
I live at the bottom of Australia and we have a bush acreage, working outdoors and gardening helps my health in many ways also.
So glad I found your channel, I really look forward to watching all your progress & adventures.
And I agree with all the other comments - Jane’s voice is lovely and calming.
Sending you both best wishes from the southern hemisphere.

Thanks Krissy, I now understand where my Australian friends were coming from when they kept on about their lifestyle back home. Outdoors is great when it's warm enough, not enough in the UK sadly, but Portugal seems to be about right for us and we feel good because of what we're doing. More to come, so thanks, and I hope you enjoy what follows...😎 ❤ 🇵🇹

The ones we've pruned so far seem to be faring well, so I can't wait to tackle the remainder!

I agree, diabetics can have a very filling life. I'm 67 and I took care of my mother who had diabetes since she was 14. She lived until she was 82. Was healthy until the end. I believe she would have lived longer if my father hadn't passed. You look good but we both know how quick that can change. Take care😊

Thanks a lot, it is a way of life, but never stops challenging. I’m only 57 years since diagnosis so your mother is a great example to us all. Thanks again for your lovely feedback 👍🙏❤️

A lively episode off you guys once again. That's really good news about how your new 'lifestyle' is having a positive impact on your diabetes Phil. Hopefully it will continue and improve all the more for you. That was a really nice clip of you clearing that Olive Tree of Ivy Jane. Nothing but good can come of this. I am sure you will be rewarded with plenty of olives in a few years time.
Take good care the both of you. 👍🏼

Thank you so much, we are learning as we go with the trees and I hope you are right about their future health. More to do later in the year. I think the lifestyle is a real positive, and I must make the most of it during our times in Portugal - well worth the trip each time.

I’ve been a type 1 for 53years now. Still healthy all is good. My two daughters and one granddaughters is also type 1. It’s funny if we go out to eat together and all have our insulin at the same time. We all have the libre sensor. Good old nhs

It's great to hear you are all keeping well. The tech is a big change from my early days, especially the monitor display in the car - I was always very nervous and set off on a long journey with a handy snack and tested on arrival to be through the roof. Not the healthiest but I got away with it. Now it's a different story. Very pleased. Take care all of you, with best wishes from Portugal. 🇵🇹 😀 👍

Hi Jane. When you cut the roots of the ivy vines do you then put some poison in the remaining root so it dies and can’t regrow? Or is that not necessary? Or is it a conscious choice not to use weed killer chemicals? Just curious bc of my own garden.

    • @HotkeysPortugal
      @HotkeysPortugal  2 місяці тому +1

We're trying to stay chemical-free, so no poison has been used. The ivy will inevitably regrow, but if I can clear the big stems from the trunks now, I'm hoping I can keep on top of it in the future with just the secateurs
