My first mall food experience was actually Morrisons's restaurant...a family favorite! But, for "fast food", I distinctly remember it being Chic-fil-A. This was mid...late 70s? I had never had a chicken sandwich SO good! And, this was before mall food courts...it was in a corner store lot, and during Christmas shopping season, it was always packed. The lemonade fountain machine also mesmerized me! I still love Chic-fil-A. ❤

For me, it was Mr. Dunderbak's. We used to go there for a snack of a nice big soft pretzel smeared with port wine cheese.😋

Hey Erin! I have a great memory (well kind of memory) of my childhood for you! From S'Barros in the mall. I was a baby baby when my mom and dad were in the mall with me in the stroller, eating lunch in their food court at the time. They didn't have rails on the little food line were your trays go, and the whole plate ended up falling on me and I got third degree burns on my arm. My mom sued and it ended up being fine. 😂 I don't remember because I was so little, but my poor mom was probably terrified.

I don't know if it was the first but the earliest mall food I remember was Auntie Anne's original salted pretzel with the caramel dipping cup. I don't know if this was necessarily a specific place or just a independent kiosk but the first drink/dessert was a like snow cone place with every syrup you could think of but the syrup to snow cone ratio was more like an old school slush puppy from Exxon. The mall I frequented as a child has been closed since 2008 so it lives on in my heart. Also the original upload was awesome it was like here's all the outtakes and/or bloopers 😅🤗.

Will I watch again?! Absolutely! Chick Fil A was only at one of the malls when I was a kid. And we didn't go there often, so it was a treat. Toothpick nugget samples!!! Sbarro was my go to as a kid.
Erin this is an excellent video. I love going to Charley’s cheesesteaks they’re delicious. I like getting their old school cheesesteak love the cheese wiz on it!! I haven’t tried their bacon cheese fried or their peach lemonade but definitely things I’ll be trying on my next visit to Charley’s cheese steaks

Hot Sam's pretzels dipped in cream cheese and the original cookie company with buckets of mini chocolate chip cookies and absolutely massive M &M ones. I miss those days so much. Got my ears pierced at Merle Norman and getting soft pretzels and mini cookies🥹🥹🥹

@@ErinRobinson Yessss! I remember sitting with my mom having Chick-fil-A for the first time in the mall, sooo clearly. I was probably 9 and It was amazing! She passed away in 2013, (when I was 29) but Ooof. What a memory! (And yes there is one in front of the mall open as a standalone still, to this day!) Hahaha
I used to go to Hot Dog On A Stick 🤣 abut also Charley’s!! My mom took me there, they had the BEST fries and I loved the chicken cheesesteak with extra banana peppers!!

I don't know if it was my FIRST memory, but I do remember loving the teriyaki places in the mall as a kid. I don't think it was ever one restaurant in particular... but there's always a teriyaki place and it was always my FAVORITE.

We have a Charleys in our little mall and they had a Club at one time and it was amazing!!!!!!!! Was sad when they discontinued it

We had a small local bakery chain with an outpost in our mall food court. They did a creamy potato soup in a bread bowl & that was always my pick, followed closely by Sbarro.

I always get their chicken philly steak sand w fries and strawberry lemonade ( the small chicken philly sand w fries is there special $). Seeing you review the sandwiches makes me want to go get one, but I hurt my jaw bitting down on a hard piece of bread two months ago and can't eat it now!!😒
This is before your time. When my family and I came here to the US in the late 70's, my uncle would take us kids to Roy Rogers at the mall. They are not around anymore, but they had the best roast beef sandwiches.😋

Orange Julius is a CLASSIC mall spot. We didn't have one in my local mall but anytime we went to nicer malls, it was the first place I wanted to stop at!
@ErinRobinson I haven't seen an Orange Julius in ages!! Most of the malls are gone (with the exception of one in Va Beach & one in Chesapeake), and the land will become apartments, condos, and multi-use stores and restaurants.

Mall Food! My earliest memory is a chain called Yogen Fruz. Basically you picked some fruit, and they put it in a machine with a white cube to smoosh it though a machine to make... FROZEN YOGURT!

We have Charley's in Dubai and I just go to Charley's for the Blueberry Drink.
That's more like it! I have not a lot of kind things to say about Charley's. I admittedly only tried one location, but the service is always poor, and the food always feels overpriced.
I've probably told you about this before because I won't shut up about it, but what you said about your reaction to mozzarella sticks makes me sad because one of the popular regional foods in my area is fried mozz with raspberry Melba sauce, and it's something I feel like you of all people needs to try some day!

From someone in the Philly area those are actually cheesesteak hoagies which are different than just a cheesesteak. Cheesesteak hoagies always have tomato and lettuce. when you order a cheesesteak here you’ll just get cheese and either fried onions or mushrooms unless you ask for a hoagie

Every 3 months I spent a day at Johns Hopkins children's hospital in doctors appointments, and my mom and I would stop and get Sakura(sp) chicken teriyaki with noodles, double meat and 2 spring rolls. I can taste it when I talk about it and immediately transport back into the food court.
Oh we had a Sakura too near campus at my college and it was our TREAT NIGHT spot. I can taste it now. Thank you for that throwback!
Dairy Queen my first mall food memory. I’m sure I had more but when I was nine, that was the first thing that I bought was my mom gave me money for ice cream but because I was painfully shy, I want an ice cream I had to order it
