Dude you done that like a pro, props to you, you help people like me with no confidence in doing it my self, to actually try it my self, not that i need to yet thank god, just had a new PCV valve fitted today but that's only been my only problem in a year 💪
Thanks that means so much! But that’s our goal is to help people tackle these jobs and save some money from taking it to a dealership/shop! But Ayy that’s good that that’s the only issue you had! Stay up to date on maintenance and it’ll be smooth sailing !
Great how to for taking it apart and a low budget solution for putting it back together. While putting it back together I replaced the PCV gasket, all of the cover fasteners that include old gaskets ($6 * 14), used an inch pound driver for the PCV plate and torqued new fasteners to 10nm with a 3/8s drive torque wrench.
I've just removed mine and it was crispy! Make sure to cover your cams whilst you do this to stop anything from falling in there as you remove the cover.
warpigroadkill yeah you gotta be super careful. Especially use lint free cloths so it doesn’t get in there. Yeah I should’ve covered it but I didn’t have it off too long!
Great vid. I have only two suggestions. 1) Apply a thin film of motor oil to the new gasket before/while installing. I like to do this for anything made of silicone. 2) The valve cover screws need to be torqued to 10Nm in a specific sequence as laid out in the Bentley guide. You can google for the sequence if you don't have the manual.
Thanks! And yeah I have access to vwhub, I work as a tech for vw so I have access to it all now 😬 when I made this video I wasn’t a tech at the time so I didn’t know there was a procedure. Thanks for the tips tho!
Nice video mate very easy to follow thanks and just to let you know ive got the seat leon fr 2.0TSI an when you actually put the cold air intake on to get rid of the air box i actually took the neck off the oil fill cap it looks way better and look a lot tidier mate you should do it 👌🏻🤙🏻👍🏻
Daniel Talbot thanks I appreciate that! And yeah I was going to but I’m going to be selling the car soon and I’m going to put it all back to stock! But please help me out by subscribing for more content coming soon! I’m getting an Audi S3!
Hey guys, make sure you follow the tightening diagram when tightening the screws on top (unfortunately I can’t post a picture here for you guys, it should be easily found a with an google search though). It’s not right to go diagonal. Also they should be torqued to 10Nm. Otherwise great video mate!

@@kenzotokyo2920 I actually have a video that is a step by step on how to do a manual carbon cleaning if you’re trying to do it yourself. I’d say it’s not hard but not easy.
would getting the gasket by its self make a difference? or would i also need to purchase a whole new valve cover ?? been having some rough idle issues going to replace the pcv first along with the breather hose, but before jumping into getting a whole new valve cover id like to try getting a new gasket first, im just not sure if i should get the entire valve cover as well
Juan Olivas I’d try with a gasket first because you could have a small cut/slit in the gasket that could cause a air flow coming into which would end up with a roughness because it’s unwanted air
@@RatchetWrenches i know that the best parts are the original oem but hoenestly at the moment i really need to see whats going on since its my daily , i fond a gasket here at my local orileys auto parts... here is the part number its VS50440 do you think it should work fine ?? thanks for taking youre time to respond man !
Juan Olivas yeah I mean oem will always be the best but aftermarket is okay! Try that and see if it’ll fix your problem. And no worries, more than happy to help! Please help us out by subscribing!
Bro i saw you deleted the pcv valve, only left one hose, the other one how did you deal with it, is the one on the intake manifold, what did you do there??
gener Luna gener Luna well I deleted the pcv and replaced it with a block off plate which requires you to delete the one hose. And keep one. It changes the flow. And with the block off plate It comes with a plug for the manifold. So you plug it. You can put boost lines to it so you can hook up a boost gauge
Ratchet Wrenches thanks bro, i changed the pcv 2 times but now it has a leak again and some misfires for this, i will do that, i think i will solve that
Note I done the dollar bill trick, I’ve seen coolant start to go missing w no leaks, this gti got 117k miles so I figured I’d do it myself n I’m certain it’s the head gasket so if this is my solution can someone tell me
I wouldn’t say the valve cover gasket would be the solution for that problem. It very well could be the head gasket, but without physically looking at the car and being there to diagnose it I wouldn’t be able to help ya out.
@@RatchetWrenches yeah I did find out that the return line wasn’t sealed correctly, n I replaced the valve cover gasket n that did the trick. Idk why I said a sweet smell it was def j oil
I have a mk5 GTI recently I noticed blue smoke from exhaust only after sat on idle for a while and when reving the smoke isn’t excessive, also high oil consumption any ideas would appreciate it! I have changed cam follower and PCV still no success
Usually blue smoke means you’re burning oil due to an oil leak somewhere. I can’t truly say but it could be valve seals, pistons, Litterally so many things. I don’t want to lead you in the wrong direction so I’m not gonna be able to help unfortunately im sorry
dann hienn the FSI is notorious for oil consumption. I mean if you really wanted you could get it fixed. But it’s not really a big deal. Most German cars eat oil. Just gotta check it every other week

dann hienn I mean it depends on each situation. But it’s mostly just the FSI engine that eats oil man. If you go on like threads and research it. Everyone says the same thing hahah it’s crazy. Like I dump a quart every 3 weeks😂
@@RatchetWrenches my situation is that I have never gone more than 3k miles w/o changing the oil and using good oil. there is no sludge visible in the v/c area. only have 50k miles. recently i switched to 5w-30 and adding Resoline to the oil. planning some 1k mile oil changes to see if i can clean out the oil rings. i have heard that they installed rings that are 1.5mm wide instead of 2.5mm wide and the correction is new pistons and rods. do you know if there is a recall on these? this would be a major repair.
Paintball Noob lmao Ik you’re supposed to use a one time clamp, but I didn’t have one and I had a aftermarket clamp lying around which did the job. But in all honesty when I got to work on the following Monday I replaced it with the one time clamp. Believe me Ik what you mean 😂
