"Does it white man?!" will always make me laugh, no matter how many times I've seen it.
Seriously. Always hilarious.
Idk what I’d say to that. We really did that sh*t .
It's PC gone bonkers
"No it doesn't. So clearly, this, is not offensive."
One of my favorite lines in the show.
"Is that a threat?"
"Why yes... I thought that was obvious."
A man who knows his fiddles.
Best scene with this man
Amazing delivery from the actor too!
I actually loled at that part!
I absolutely love that!
never drops the smile either its perfect
"Slowly taking back our money from white people, one quarter at a time" cracks me up every time
PLEASE 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Looks like it cracked him up too lol
This is why I only go to Asian-owned casinos. Although they screw me all of the time, the money are at least kept among my own people.
I am a Native American who works in a Native American casino and I agree.
@@louisbrown6141Is Louis Brown your Native American name?
Ken Hotate's distrust of the Pawnee government was justified, but he definitely trusted Leslie.
Anyone's distrust of the government is justified.
Another great thing about Leslie is that she knows their history and respects it.
this comment says something
Often the only politicians you'll find that are actually trying to do good don't make it too far.
@@non_brewed_condimentas does this one
Ken Hotate: (Sees an offensive stereotypical portrayal of himself)
Also Ken Hotate: "Yes. That is exactly how it happened."
He will take any chance he gets to mess with white people and you kind of have to respect him for it
4d chess moves
Offensive, but working in his favor. The guy knows which battles to pick.
@@Aethelia Hey, if it makes the _other_ person uncomfortable, that's ammo in your pouch. Use it.
My FAVOURITTTEEEE
Haha Ken Hotate making up gibberish for the curse lifting ceremony is hilarious.
It's even funnier to consider the possibility that other members of his tribe might have seen that broadcast and none of them said a thing.
Scooby. Dooby. Do.
I first watched that on my laptop while taking the bus home after work. My fellow passengers were looking at me weird as I nearly doubled over wheezing because I was trying to keep my voice down
They were probably in on the joke 🤣🤣@@foxxygradius7858
I love that after he does the ceremony, he just walks off stage, straight through the crowd.
"My son sells them on Etsy. He is a huge disappointment."
I watch this show whenever I've forgotten about it enough. He delivers that first line with sincerity and pride so that second line gets me every time lol
“The atrocities are in blue.”
😂
That has the capacity to become a meme like "they're the same picture"
"The red are the good parts" 😂
"That is exactly what happened" he should probably be offended but the man knows how to use racism to his advantage.
He really plays white people like a fiddle.
Why should he be offended?
@@toonnaobi-okoye2949lmao did you watch the video
@@maljha I think they’re referring to the fact that Ken/the Wamapoke made the graphic and sent it in to bolster their claim of the curse and scare the citizens of Pawnee. So yea, it is an offensive video, but he made it, so it makes sense that he wouldn’t be offended by it.
@@lauraroth6630 😂
The sincerity behind "Did he die" made me spit take
Such perfect delivery 😂
“Does it, white man?!” Is still one of the best lines/deliveries of television.
I would’ve loved if they used Ken more, that said the scenes we did get of him were fantastic
He was/is so underrated.
Very much so.
I think they used him perfectly. Pawnee was the closest we ever got to a live-action Springfield, and keeping a good balance with all the characters in the town was an important part of that.
Is that so white man? Use him like you used the ancestors of his tribe?
Absolutely! He stole the scene every single time!
“During the battle 93 year old chief was shot 102 times by the cavalry”
“Did he die??”
Yes….” 😂
Yes but also he pronounced it “ cal-vary“ which may be a deliberate Biblical reference but I doubt it😂
For some reason it made me thin in Whitebeard' death in 'One Piece', sad truly but a what a badass death if your enemy have to do all that to kill you
@@22especwhitebeard is a character that was inspired by Saito Musashibo Benkei, the mighty warrior monk who faces waves of samurai to protect his master
Ken indeed played white people like a fiddle… especially on that episode where he played jam 🤣🤣🤣
“Does it, white man!?” Is one of the single best delivered lines in the history of this show.
@@brandonrust4114 🤣🤣🤣🤣 it just kills me like
He jammed the Jam. So poetic.
@@VitchAndVorty he jammed the jammed out of jam 🤣🤣

Ben going "Oh, I love these things!" at the low-budget "USCSB" style reenactment video. 100% fitting with his character
In case people don't know, those types of news animations are really specific to Taiwan. For some reason they're really common in Taiwan and Taiwan only.

Doobee, doobee... Doo...
*everyone claps 💀
Anyway no one can understand me
Thought he was channeling the spirit of Roy Orbison, or scooby doo.....
“Is that a threat?”
“Yes, I thought that was obvious.”
Incredible
Ken was always one of those people who trusted Leslie to do the right thing, even when she messed up. In a town & career where so many people are only ever looking out for themselves, Leslie was always looking out for other people and always tried to do the right thing.
Her interactions with Ken always show the effort she puts in to recognize all of Pawnee history, the good & the bad. I suppose one could view it as White Guilt, but I believe it demonstrates her willingness to tackle obstacles head on instead of dancing around them.
Also, I love when Ken comes up to Ben, says "Here, stupid" in Wamapoke, then just throws dirt in his face. Kills me every time.
It’s also very consistent with how she treats everybody in Pawnee. The people know she has everyone’s best interests at heart and puts others before herself, even if they don’t always agree with her. That’s why the Police Chief agrees to help with security for the Harvest Festival, the airport “loses” the bag that contains a bad interview, JJ’s diner lists her as their favorite customer, and someone like Ron Swanson goes above and beyond to support her political career.
@@54raynor EXACTLY.
Except for Orin.
This show has some of the best, well formed supporting cast members of any show. Ken Hotate included.
Especially* 😂
Damn it's not here but Ken chucking dirt in Ben's face to "bless" him is such an underrated funny moment from the Harvest Festival ep🤣
agreed, that's one of my favorite moments in the series
"Is that a threat?"
"Why yes, I thought it was obvious"😊
I love it.
Ken Hotate really called his own son a disappointment. 🤣🤣
When you’re a wealthy casino owner who can make the heads of local government departments come crawling to you to beg favors and your son is just some dude selling bolos on etsy, that’s a pretty good way to feel about it
I think the implication is that his son is a Native American artisan and that is disappointing to him 😂
Selling stuff on Etsy is still a step above selling stuff on Amazon
Well you have to understand his son is being raised by a white man
@@bisquit56 To be fair, he was screwing the white man's wife.
wished they also kept in the moment where he "lifts" the curse for Ben.
"Hey, dummy!" *throws sand in Ben's face*
Pocket sand!
I know Swanson and Hotate stand for opposite sides of the spectrum, but I get the feeling they are just best buds when they're off the clock: they both like whiskey, are all about being self-made, and are amazing trolls
Actually I think they would be pretty politically in tune. They're both very against the government
I mean, if Ron and Typhoon could become best friends, I can see him and Ken being good buds as well hahah 😂
Ron was right-wing libertarian but was not racist. They would be good duo.
@@HimanXK Yeah, Native Americans have to apply to the US government for eagle feathers, for which they have cultural and religious uses. Only card-carrying tribe members have the right to own a feather and giving one to a non-member-for instance, a grandchild-is a federal crime. Not every tribe or people is recognized. The Bureau of Indian Affairs has kept people poor and malnourished for decades. My guess is Ken hates the Feds more than Ron. 😅
The delivery of "He is a huge disappointment." was so deadpan and sincere, it completely caught me off-guard. Perfection.
Props to the Parks and Rec YT channel for not only reading the comments on their posted clips, but actually listening to fans request for specific scenes and compilations. Finally, some Ken Hotate!
I forgot what a killer line "A epic 7 day battle that the wamapoke lost... because they didnt have any weapons" was. And also historically pretty accurate.
Lasting 7 days without any weapons is pretty badass though.
It's probably not historically accurate for a native tribe to have literally no weapons though
I never noticed until now that Matchbox 20 was playing at the casino when they showed the outside. Probably wouldn't have picked up on it without this compilation.
I was about to comment the same thing Lol. That's such a good call back
That brief throwaway sight gag may be my favorite part of this compilation. Very Edgar Wright.
Never caught that before 😂
Every fckn side caracter in this show nails it. I have no clue how they ve done it...
I love how he says “I’m not saying anything” at the end in front of the cameras like no one’s going to translate it
No one will, the subtitles will just say [Speaking in Indian]
i don't think any indian would snitch on their own for the white man.
"None of that happened!" "That is exactly what happened."
Ken Hotate did not get even screen time, he should get a spin-off
"Does it white man" 😅😂
That’s a great idea.
Yeeeeeees please
Have you heard of 'Big Mountain Fudgecake'?
8:20 I think Ken “lifting the curse” is one of the funniest bits from the show.
“I am not saying anything”
“No one can understand me anyway”
“Doobee, Doobee, Do”
"That is... not great." Is one of my favorite lines.
"My son sells them on Etsy. He is a huge disappointment." Lol!!! No one writes like this anymore.
“There are two things I know about white people they love Matchbox Twenty, and they are Terrified of curses”
One of my favorite quotes from Parks and Recreation 😂
Then later that exact same band is performing in the casino. Love those little details.
That line wasn't used in the show.. he says "Rachel Ray" instead of Matchbox 20 in version I saw..
@@Optimystikthat threw me off big time
PFP BUDDIES!!!!!
@@OptimystikI was sure of it too, but matchbox 20 is way funnier
"DOES IT, WHITE MAN?!"
Woah, guy distrusts the government, is a firm man, likes to mess with people, hated Jamm and drinks whiskey? How come we never got an interaction between him and Ron?
he is the best recuring character. every scene with him is an absolute blast.
A scene with Ken, Lesley, Ann, and April smoking a bowl could’ve been damn funny
"The atrocities are in blue..." So on point with colonial history
6:16
“Is that a threat?”
“Why yes, I thought it was obvious”
Ken is one of the most awesome characters on the show and the actor that plays the role is awesome too.
Lol, April smiling at the beginning, totally aware of what he is doing, is my favorite part.
"I think it's a slam dunk idea. I think we're done here."
1:00 April was REALLY stoked to go smoke the peace pipe😂😂
They sure made that digital recreation fast.😅😂
Ground breaking animation. Lol
He had a vision
Reminds me of Xavier Renegade Angel
"The atrocities are in blue" kills me everytime
That reenactment tho 😂😂😂
I’m going to say it, most underrated (and under used) character on Parks and Rec
"Is that a threat?!"
"Why yes! I thought that was obvious." 😃
Hard to pick a favourite scene from the compilation but that was a good one
The more I watch this show, the more I’m convinced the secondary characters are some of the best out there 😂
I’m also really glad we get such a great Native American character as strong, sarcastic, and forward as Ken 🙏🏼
I legit want an artbook of all the Pawnee City Hall murals. They're peak black comedy 😂
Him messing with Jamm is amazing. 6:25.
"Absolutely not, that sounds highly offensive." "Does it, White Man?" The stern face and delivery is perfect.
"So clearly this is not offensive." "It is offensive." "I'm very sorry." "Take it off." I also like how the Paunch Burger lady is now very quiet.
That's the guy who played John Redcorn on King of the Hill
He's so funny.
In a show filled with fantastic side characters, Ken Hotate was one of the best.
About damn time we get a ken hotate compilation!!!! "Does it white man?"
7:24 Matchbox 20 is headlining at the casino lmao
6:40 Ken gaslighting that guy about being offensive after he put on the headdress because Ken asked him to🤣🤣🤣
This is how you do comedy. You don't laugh at people, you laugh with them.
How? What are the details?
@@djamtz having your characters be mean to each other like
A to B : you are such a loser cause blah blah blah (LIVE AUDIENCE LAUGHS)
@@djamtz
Laugh at people = one character is made to look ridiculous (extra dumb, awkward, or something) and everybody else laughs at them. Basically, it's Jerry's case. He's made to be laughed at.
Laugh with people = characters are going at each other in a balanced, shared way, so you laugh at the jokes, roasts or teases they make to each other, you enjoy the exchange between the characters, you don't laugh at a character in particular.
@@Libellulaire Exactly! I didn't like the Jerry thing. I understand you need a character like that in sitcoms for some slapstick humour or else studios don't greenlight (like Joey being stupid), but it feels uncomfortably close to workplace bullying. Most of the time however, this show does inclusive humour really well.
I've literally been waiting for this video for years 😭
"He is a huge disappointment" 😂
The reenactment animation is still the funniest thing to date for me. 🤣
I understand the mixup of saying Calvary instead of cavalry but I am shocked it made it into the final cut 😂
Same!
i like how the re-enactment at 3:38 looks like it was done in Sims 2 😂
I love how in the beginning April immediately catches on that he’s making fun of Leslie and Ann
Parks and rec had the best side characters.
"The atrocities are in blue" always cracks me up
2:26 "They Love Matchbox 20..."
7:23 Tonight: Matchbox 20
LOL
Ken Hotate was an underrated character!
Chief Ken Hotate is genuinely hilarious. I love he he's trolled every white official to get what he wants and needs.
“Doobee. Doobee. Do.” So moving I cry every time
Ken's delivery of "Does it, white man?!" always always always gets me cracking up... even though i've seen it dozens of times 🤣🤣🤣
Ah, they used the Matchbox 20 cut of the curses bit.
An alternative/other coast cut was "Rachel Ray".
Personally, as a Kanienkeha'ka, I think "La La Land" would universally fit. Shame it didn't exist back then. 😂
I didn't know there was an alt version with Matchbox 20.. that blows my mind.
The Rachel Ray version was the one available in the UK
I love at 7:30 how the casino is featuring Matchbox 20
I never noticed at 7:25 the marquee says "now showing Matchbox 20" 😂😂
whoever did this compilation, you win. i've watched it every day lol
Doobe.. Doobe.. Doo
Such profound words Ken, they invoke so much emotion.
Why do i feel hungry for some scooby snacks?
One of the most underrated side characters.
Ken was a true legend, perhaps not the best character but certainly did an amazing perfomance with incredible humour in all of them
If they want to give Ken a spin off show I’m in
Hold on.. he said "They love Rachel Ray" instead of "Matchbox 20" in the version I originally saw.. 🤔
"My son sells them on Etsy. He is a huge disappointment." lol
Should have included the bit where he "removes the curse" from Ben.
I was today years old when I learned that Chief Ken Hotate also voiced John Redcorn on King of the Hill, another sitcom co-created by Greg Daniels!
Imagine this guy in a same room as Doug Judy (Craig Robinson) from Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
Ken Hotate was a great character and we need one of these on the Pawn shop guy
OMG YES!
just get some nitrous and he'll show up
Hold up. I thought the two things he knew about white people was that we love Rachel Ray, and we’re terrified of curses.
Did we get Mandela’d?! I remember the same thing! 😅
I could’ve swore it was Rachel Ray he said
Yes!! Same here
I went and searched for just the "2 things about white people" video and he DOES say Rachel Ray weird
Ken and Jennifer Barkley were THE BEST secondary characters
Katherine Hahn is the BEST part of almost any project she's in.
This character was so great, I was always happy to see him show up again when I was first watching through this show
Does it white man?
There was an opportunity here where ken and Leslie go out on a date or two that could have been hilarious.
I will never not laugh at Coinsy the wolf
Definitely one of my favorite side characters from the show. Everything he says always makes me giggle.
Wish he had more screen time
Relatable AF character.
Me: He was amazing.
Ken: AM I, WHITEMAN!
I love how Leslie is literally the purest of heart, but has zero trouble to side with Ken in playing with white’s people ignorance about natives. That’s some fine writing.
Criminally underrated show and actor.
6:32 He’s so proud of her😭😂
Yes! I love Ken Hotate
