Up until I found out that "Code Lyoko" was actually French, I had always assumed that it was Japanese because the word "Lyoko" does sound very Japanese. My uncle (my mom's youngest brother) also thought that "Code Lyoko" was Japanese. When I found out that "Code Lyoko" was French, I told him, and he was just as surprised as I was, if not more. He said " It don't look French", and I said "Believe me it is, and I was surprised when I found out." I never knew that "Code Lyoko" was actually a French cartoon. Edit: Another reason why we thought "Code Lyoko" was Japanese was because of Aelita's hair color, it's pink. Edit 2: Then again, I kind of had my suspicions that "Code Lyoko" wasn't Japanese. Because in the "Code Lyoko: Quest for Infinity" game, the language options were English, French, and Spanish, and the dialogue options were English and French. So, I knew it had to have come from one of those countries. (I just didn't know which one.)
Yeah it can be a big surprise but... we, french, are a bunch of weebs I think haha Since the 70's the Japanese culture is really important for us. Including the Anime, and the creator of Code Lyoko grew up with these
