I was a mechanic at a Mahindra dealership. The higher end actual made by Mahindra tractors are not bad .the rest i would avoid. Especially if you want a tiller .the pto cluthes are way undersized and cant handle the abuse from a tiller .Definitely never put 1 on a max .

Very true. I order IH parts from Hoober or Messicks because the closest Case-IH dealer to me is 2 hours and they’re a-holes. Even freight is cheaper out of PA.
Thank You for your honest opinion. One thing I have noticed about the difference in Kubota and Mahindra is that the Lifting Capacity on the Mahindra tractors are much higher on comparable models. For instance your Max 26XLT has a lift 3 point lift capacity of 2205 lbs and a loader lift capacity of 1402 lbs while a comparable Kubota B2601 series has a 3 point capacity of 1411 lbs and loader lift capacity of 948 lbs. Your Mahindra max 26 will pickup 794 lbs more with the 3 pt lift and 454 lbs more with loader. Your Mahindra 1626 HST has a 2646 lb 3pt lift/1560 lb loader and the comparable Kubota L2501 that has 1389 lb 3pt lift /1144 lb loader lift capacity . Your Mahindra 1626 has 1257 lbs more 3 pt lift capacity and 416 lbs more loader lift capacity. I guess it just depends on what you are doing with your tractors. There is obviously a much larger 3 point and loader lift capacity with Mahindra tractors and the prices are a good bit less on the Mahindra. I guess if someone did not do much lifting and money was not a factor the Kubota would be a reasonable choice. You know some people just like certain colors. I went thru 3 years of Kubota trouble with 3 new hydraulic pumps so I found out the hard way about trying to actually do work with a Kubota. That was 3 Hydraulic Pumps in less than 150 hours Thankfully I still had my old New Holland tractor to use while they continually worked on my NEW Kubota. I PERSONALLY WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER KUBOTA, I learned about Kubota issues the hard way.
Thank You for your reply . I did a real apples to apples comparison on JD, Mahindra and Kubota. The Mahindras had more features, the dealer was closer and the price point was better. People are often fiercely defensive of their purchases and seldom care to see any other’s perspectives… and that doesn’t just apply to machinery
My only complaint about my Mahindra is the dealership dropped them and the closest dealer is 200 miles away.
Ugg. I’m so sorry 😣. It seems like some dealerships are great, others just picked up the brand and then couldn’t make it work. There was one near me that sold a lot of tractors, but he couldn’t get people to work on them.

Your degree of honesty and thoroughness are rare IMO. I am sort of a Farmall nut and have not considered a Mahindra. My nearest tractor dealer is maybe too “set in his ways” to pull the trigger on a new tractor. Plus 20% higher than what I went with. I don’t farm, just messing around and gardening type stuff. I own a number of orphan tractors, you need to be handy and have time to repair/wait. Not wise if your trying to make a living with your equipment. They can/do make for a backup tractor and can be had for cheap however. I agree 200% on the brakes and hydro control on the same side. Stupid is as stupid does!

I think you made an excellent point that many owners of smaller tractors don't seem to grasp, they're not bulldozers, they're farm tractors. The majority of issues l've seen on smaller series tractors is people can't quite understand that a 20hp machine isn't even remotely capable of what a 80-100hp tractor is, but they still try to use them for purposes they were never intended or designed for.
I agree that the Japanese built tractors are of a superior quality, but l do have personal experience of what happens when Mitsubishi builds tractors for another brand and then stops, the parts availabilty drops to basically nothing, that's a huge drawback if you decide to keep them for the long term.

I have a 2 year old 4550. Been a great machine so far at 230 hours. The only issue is a short im chasing for my dash lights. I'm going to clean every ground and check all sockets. I came from a Kubota as well and saved $9500
I had a dash pro last in my 2537, but they fixed it at my house for free. The gauges all went kerfluey, but it never happened again. Thank You for sharing
The fact that you use your tractors everyday makes your common sense review very credible..
And as you said, a lot of the issues people complain about is because they buy a utility tractor and try to force it to do the job of a bulldozer .
I had pretty much finalized my research to go with a Bad Boy 4025.. but im pretty sure they're made by TYM .. i like its capabilites but i have a Mahindra dealer literally 5 minutes from my homestead.
I guess i heard too many bad reviews of Mahindra early in my research so it planted doubts in my mind.
Like you, my previous tractor was a Kubota.. It was a little beast.. but good grief theyre expensive...
Bad Boys are TYM, yes. I think (hopefully) I’ve got the bugs worked out of my Mahindra. I would vouch for the Mahindra 1626 and max 26xlt as they are Mitsubishi and have been (for me) very reliable. I’ve added a John Deere 3039R to my fleet for haying and I got a good deal on it as a family friend of ours works at our local jd dealer. I initially tried to get another Kubota, but the little family owned dealer is now a conglomerate, all the old folks are gone and they only cater really to construction/landscaping companies who are spending 100k. Tom, I appreciate the info and opinion on the Mahindra. I really love my 2020 1626 HST. It has the bucket and backhoe. It works perfect for what I use it for. I haven’t had any issues in the two years that I’ve owned it. I have No experience with John Deere or Kubota tractors. Thanks again for sharing.
My brother has that same setup and I think his is 2 as well. He’s got about 120 hours on it with no issues thus far. Thank You for watching 😊

I've had 2 mahindra tractors. My 26xl with backhoe is tough . I was going to do a new 1635 but it only lifts like another couple hundred lbs more. I can lift half a ton of heating pellets on a pallet. Was hoping 1635 could lift the whole pallet but it cant. Will keep the max 26 as I can fit into my pool area gate if needed.
I really like my max and it can pick up 3x4 round bales without any troubles. I like the larger ones too for general farming as they’re heavier and lift attachments higher, but for an average homeowner, the Max is more than adequate. Thank You for watching
Really informative video. I agree with you that you are buying the dealership. In my case, the local John Deere dealership seemed to be the best and they have been. I owned a John Deere 855 for 25 years. The tractor was phenomenal and I didn't have a single breakdown in all that time except for 1 tire and 1 hydraulic hose that I punctured. Late last year I bought a John Deere 3033r with the hydrostatic transmission which, as you say, was very expensive because I was expecting the same experience I had with my 855. Unfortunately, the final assembly quality of my new tractor was poor. We had a number of problems that were difficult to diagnose because of all the computers. Two got resolved only by opening cases at John Deere and were assembly errors. The dealership was great and the problems seem to have been resolved; it just took a lot of my time and the dealership's time. The tractor works extremely well and fully meets my needs. It has an array of very sophisticated electronic controls that turn out to be really useful for field work. I like the imatch quick hitch a lot. You are right about the proprietary attachment of the bucket but I do think it is superior. I bought the adapter to use with the other front implements I have so I think I have the best of both worlds. It's a great tractor and, were it not for the assembly problems, I'd be completely happy. I was somewhat puzzled by some of your description of John Deere tractor features because they don't seem to be true of my tractor. Perhaps they are true of other series tractors. Regarding the pollution control system, I don't think anybody likes it but what are you going to do? Sounds like an advantage for Mahindra. I am getting used to the regen process and don't find it as problematic as you do. If you want to, you can do a parked regen at a time and place of your choosing. I have 100 hours on my tractor and have had two regens. As for the hood, my 855 had a hood like that and it was perfect for 25 years, perhaps because I parked it inside.
As for Mahindra, there is no local dealer nearby so I didn't consider it. I would say that my John Deere seems to be a lot more rugged, the hitch being one example. Kubota seems like a great option. My big objection to the Kubota is the foot control for the hydrostatic transmission. I think the John Deere's are vastly superior. This is a big deal to me.
One point I strongly recommend regardless of what brand you buy. Don't get the bar tread high flotation tires that most of them come with. Get the agricultural tires because they have much much more traction. My rear tires are filled with beet juice and I have a rear ballast box but the wheels still spin without testing the engine at all, even in 4 wheel drive. I have one of the smaller engines in the series and I can only imagine what the bigger engines would do.
Would I buy the John Deere again? Yes, probably. It is beautifully designed, comfortable, efficient and fully featured. My one reservation is assembly quality.
First, let me thank you for watching and taking the time for such a great response. I really think John Deere outdid itself with the rugged reliability of those 50 & 55-series. Those were bullet-proof and given the opportunity, I’d take an 850/950/1050 in a second. The 55-series were hydrostatic? The R-series are John Deere’s premium tractors and I definitely think the quality is evident in those. The JD dealership near me was sold about 3x since I was a kid and everyone complains about their $18 bolts that are $3 at the hardware store. The old salesman is there, I think he’s better than 70 now. A great guy and a friend of the family. I bought my Gator from him about 2 years ago. When I had a repeat issue with the shift cable, John Deere Corporate stepped in and paid 2/3 of the repair. I definitely like hydros for loader work and nothing beats JD twin-touch in my opinion don’t care for the treadle pedals very much. Anyway, I looked at the E model John Deere because they were the most simplistic and with the fewest amount of gadgets. I work a lot in dust and dirt and manure and I was afraid of them to be quite honest. Regardless, I do appreciate your time and thank you for your feedback
I have a 2021 1635 and I noticed that some times I over heat and my 3rd function valve has gotten stuck a few times also I’ve had some dumb bolts fall out but I’m happy with it
Do you know why it overheats? I have not had that issue, but my loader valve is messed up again, but up instead of down. I did get the gearshift stuck once

Your tractor has cruise control, yes? cant you put the tractor in cruise, split the break apart, and push the pedal to determine which way you are going to turn. then use the throttle to control the speed at which you will turn? full disclosure, I own a 1526hst. I would have the same setup as you? I haven't tried this yet, not sure if it's too dangerous or not....maybe ill try it in a field without trees sometimes, if it works, it would be nice to have that in my back pocket if the situation arises that I need it.

My 1635 is gear. The max 26 is hydro and the cruise deactivates when you hit the brakes.

There is a bleeder on the valve and may need bleeding! Yeah I had the not fall off my shifter and mess the treads up fixed it my self
The shifter got stuck in the forks once because my foot slipped off the clutch in a snow storm
I have a Mahindra C35 that I bought new in May 2003. It’s all Mahindra, I believe. Twenty years and not a single problem that wasn’t owner induced, and only a couple of those. Original battery lasted 9 years. I don’t know about the new Mahindras, but my old one has been a hoss. Not a single loose bolt that I can remember.
The old ones that looked similar to the IH models they produced were virtually indestructible. Thank You for watching
as far as the front tie rods on kubota yes they could have designed the behind the axle but the main thing that will get damaged is the rubber boots they are a bit on the expensive end and Ive had to change mine 1 time in right under 1000hrs of normal use, I do not abuse my $32,000 tractor in any way or use it beyond its design I have a JD 455E loader to push trees down and dig holes with.
I agree. I never hurt my Kubota either, but my ex-brother-in law absolutely destroyed his boots and tie rods. Thank You for watching
Almost bought a Mahindra 4540. I thought was a heavy solid Tractor still do but for whatever reason there have been several dealerships in my area, 5 to be exact that quit Mahindra. That told Mahindra to come get their Tractors off their lot. I don’t understand it. They look like a solid Tractor. Had JD and did not like it. Sold it with 100 hours on it. Have 2 LS Tractors. No problems whatsoever. Just my thoughts. Thanks for sharing.

I bought Mahindra 26XLT back hoo in June 2023. I love it , it’s working beautifully. Price wise it’s the cheapest machine compared to different models. Kubota 4.400 more, Jone Deer almost 5.200, for the same tractor. I’m happy with the

My issue is it seems industry is moving away from small tractors that are gear based and going to hydrostat. I am a gear man and gear will beat hydros all day long when pushing, pulling.
It seems to be what the consumer needs wants unfortunately. There are a lot of instances that I dislike hydrostatic
26HP and under don't have the DPF, doesn't matter what brand you buy.
A friend of mine has a Mahindra, other than operator error problems they haven't had issues with it, but I wonder in 10-20 years how it'll be to get parts for? That's the trouble I had grasping buying a no-name off-brand tractor. Their biggest issue is hydraulic hoses, but due to them letting their so called friends borrow it, they break stuff all the time on it. Not a fault of the tractor, just the fault of letting people borrow their tractor, huge mistake, never let people borrow your equipment for any reason.
The dealer experience to me is far more important though than what color you buy. If the dealership/salesman are horrible, don't buy there, you'll forever have terrible experience every time you have to visit the dealership. For me the dealer I bought from wasn't that good, luckily another 8 miles down the road is another dealer that was able to hook me up with the stuff my salesman couldn't seem to figure out how to get, yet the 2nd dealer had in stock the whole year I was waiting in limbo for my salesman to follow through on what he sold me a year prior. Wasn't impressed with the sales at the 1st dealership, so if I need to buy attachment and implement stuff I'll go to the 2nd dealership, but for fluids/filters the service side seemed ok.
A lot of people with these smaller tractors end up breaking stuff because they just see the word Tractor and think it'll do anything...they will to a point, but you gotta work within their small limitations due to their light weight and smaller size.
Kubota did that same thing with the treadle pedal & brake pedals on the same side on one series of their tractors or a few I can't remember for sure, but yeah, how the hell would that work, someone wasn't thinking when they designed that....steering brakes are great, but when you have them on the same side as the go forward go backward pedal, what's the point, I guess if you sit sideways in the seat maybe LOL. I don't mind the treadle pedal, my lawn tractor is the same way as most hydrostatic lawn tractors are what seems built the same except JD, and a few that have the hydrostatic forward/reverse on the fender.
I don't go crashing through the woods with my tractor, I don't have any woods to go crashing through, but I see people on UA-cam doing it all the time, and I can only imagine all the damage they cause and may have no clue about by doing that.

@@wildbill23cya I bought a mahindra a year ago never heard of it so far it’s been a good machine I have no complaints for what it is. I’m a 30 year heavy equipment operator so it took a little getting used to this little tinny tractor around my property but it does the work I need so far. On a side note apparently everywhere but here in the U.S. Mahindra is the largest tractor company in the world I read somewhere. Anyhow my 2021 1626 shuttle has been decent so far

I have a 2565 2016 and I have had problems with it since I bought it brand new. Lots of problems with transfer case, front end axle ,loader, injectors and injector pump, and other problems plus I don't trust the dealer, charged me over 5k for fixing front end but I really don't think it was worked on.
Holy Crap! I am sorry to hear this. I really don't think the 26 series is very good. My local dealership is great and I never see the Mitsubishi models in the repair corral. The salesman said to me that they are getting lots of calls from TYM owners for parts and service. I regret not buying another Kubota
I am in total agreement about the 2538 i have one and its a POS! BTW that one tractor must have been built by the night shift, As we use to say at north american rockweel in cleveland Ohio, The night shift did it!!! lol
Yup. Mine was garbage and was warranty repaired at least 3x before I traded it. The guy who bought it had to buy a new hydraulic pump not too long afterwards. Luckily, the dealership was crafty and found one cheap. Thank you for watching

I have 2 mahindras also A 2810 and a 2538 and have had no problems with either with a total of 1600 hrs on both, Sorry you got a lemon , My 2538 is not junk.

dpf haven't been an issue with the majority of compact tractors for years now and you can still work with the tractors while it's in regen so i don't see the problem
Eventually you have to let it regen and if you’re in a barn or a hayfield it doesn’t work so well. Additionally, all they did was add emissions to existing engines rather than designing an engine to be tier iv compliant from the get go. Mahindra spent over $30,000,000 on tooling up for that, the others not so much, so yeah, it is a problem
I'd like a new tractor, but the old bulletproof B-414 is probably as close to mahindra as I'll get. The dealerships have been all over the place unstable. Seems like nobody carries them for long...not that I'm in the market anyway, I need another tractor like I need a football wrench.

@@LedgemereHeritageFarm TYM and LS Tractor have also passed through our neighborhood. The previous John Deere dealer sold both of them after losing JD. Mahindra has come and gone from two dealerships in town, I think they are still 15 miles up the road, 45 miles the other way, probably Louisville and Lexington, too.
one of the worst things about ALL these newer feather weight 20-55 hp tractors is the loaders are far over rated for the amount of weight of the machine from the factory! I had to add right at 1 TON of weight to the rear of my MX5200! in order to get proper safe usage out of the FEL. Ive ran older mahindras and 1 new 55 series with the 2 speed PTO I did like the new mahindra it was weighted properly from the factory to use the FEL but good grief the thing cost nearly 40,000 back in 2021. After adding the proper ballast I have no complaints about my kubota mx5200, It does run hotter like most of the new machines as well but it is what it is thanks to all the save the earth regulations
my MAX 26 XLT has loaded tires, but if I don't use ballast, its a bit unstable for sure. One Kubota dealer near me loads the tires on their tractors as a routine prep. they load the tires, attach a bucket hook and add a block heater on all of them. The Mom and Pop Kubota dealers are disappearing almost as fast as the green stores. Thank You for watching
@@LedgemereHeritageFarm yes they are disappearing its really sad, we have 1 mom and pop kubota dealer about 20 miles away, I on purpose buy all my service parts from them just to support a local business. we lost our local mahindra dealer, I used them for as long as i could.
My emax 25 is jammed in 4wd .
The service for mahindra in Australia is almost NON-EXISTENT .
I can’t even find ann oil filter withing 100 miles from my home .
Buy a johnny or a kabota .
They cost more but the resale is way better and the service is acceptable .

Why don't you use your cubs ? They are built to last far stronger than those garden tractors.

What happens if you run diesel tractor with 1qt too much oil
A little extra wont hurt, but if the oil on the dipstick is foamy, you’ve probably got too much in there.

Yikes! I’m sorry to hear that, but, sadly, you’re not the first person I’ve heard who had that issue. I presume the warranty has expired? Is that one made by TYM? I don’t think they build very good equipment . The hydraulic coupling seals in my 1635 are starting to fail and they’re not a standard size…obviously 🤦🏼♂️

I had a 3540 and a 3550 both was horrible stayed in the shop. Wouldn't recommend mahindra
honestly, if I had to do it all over again, Id buy a Kubota
No dont buy mahindra. They do not honor their warranty! I had multiple issues and they always have an excuse they their not covering it. 50 hrs bolts backed out of right sude of loader and broke the casting- had to fix it myself. 70 hrs bad glow plugs. fixed myself 120hrs hydraulic leak. fixed myself because they said its not covered. 224 hrs hydraulic pump getting weak, not their responsibility. They will not sell me a pump rebuild kit. Pump $800-$900. kit should be $20. 280hrs shifter not functioning correctly. No help from mahindra. Do not buy mahindra. Engine is good. Hard to get service manuals and parts
I think the dealership has a Lot to do with it and whether or not they go to bat for you. they fixed everything that went wrong with mine. I am sorry your experience was not a good one.
Any tractor today without a 4in1 bucket and a quick hitch is garbage.

Mine is junk , Te to use a tractor, and this is the only new tractor i have owned. But Junk , junk, junk, They have welded stuff back because of faulty welding . start problems pto rebuilt 2 times. dash problems ,switch fell apart. plastic looks like-- ? battery terminals disintegrated. And on and on. For a tractor that was bought new, and less than a 1000 hours. Never again. My 53 year old MF 135 is a lit better tractor and bought it so i have a tractor with a working pto.
I’m very sorry to hear this. I’ve had issues, but none that serious (yet). Never Again for me.

I got aftermarket ones for cheap. They work just as good. But found out the connection was a little corroded and was probably the problem so I kept the OEM ones.

These tractors are terrible I bought an 8090 at an bigIron auction (don’t every do that) it blew up with 23 hours on it. I bought a crate motor ( a brand new motor) which was supposed to take 10 days it has now been4 months. The whole Mahindra system is crap do even look at this brand it has done nothing but cost me money don’t do it
If it weren't for my local dealership really stepping up to offer excellent service, I wouldn't touch another with a 10' pole. I just picked up a 7 year old John Deere 3039R and its night and day difference in quality.i hope you get the service you deserve
