About this video: the idea of naming those types 0, -1, -2. +1, +2 is not mine.
I got it from one Ukranian stylist. His name is Roman Medny. (He's also on UA-cam - for some of you who understands Russian language.) So he is also the one from whom I heard about Kibbe Body Types some years ago. So I was thinking about those types of contrast a lot and decided to make a big scale with women from all over the world and analyse them from that viewpoint. Also I cleared the definition, and decided to be more specific based on the definition. It's not perfect, there's no science to it. I'm sure in some time I will re-think some of them and maybe will be more specific. It all is pretty new for me too. That's how I do my researches - while editing my videos aahhaha. Anyway hope you enjoy ))) And don't take it too seriously. Let's just play the game!

🙋🏼 ABOUT ME: Hi guys! My name is Alyona. I was born in Russia. I'm a musician. And I love art, makeup, fashion, style and beautiful environments. I love playing with makeup and fashion, but at the same time, I’m quite a minimalistic person. I don't like the idea of being fixated on the body too much. I have an alternative and unconventional viewpoint on beauty, the body types and face shapes. I love helping other women find their "it" and finally discover their beauty and boost their confidence.
I have several series on my channel that you might be interested in such as: Body Types, Contouring, Makeup History and Makeup Transformations. Also some random beauty hacks about skin care, hair, nails and beauty in general.

Aly Art what do you think about Dua Lipa blonde hair? I don’t like it, she is high contrast +2 I think, and goes for a yellow blonde, not for her. Her stylist was smoking weed, she use natural make up now, no eyelashes, so apparently want a beach fresh face bit the hair doesn’t match
@Sejj
I agree. The blonde does not suit Dua Lipa. She should stay with dark colors.
I heard you. You are an amazing singer! 💖💖
Hello Aly! If I send you a picture of me would you be able to tell me what you would recommend I do with my hair? I have a struggle figuring out what I should do to compliment my looks
ua-cam.com/video/_T7lbYhARWs/v-deo.html
The more I watch this woman the more I feel this is a legitimate science.
Hair in general is a science which is why you need to be licensed
EVERYTHING IS SCIENCE
But it's science
It is science
And that she is very intelligent.
*is already confident with blonde hair* "hm, i wonder if i would look good as a blonde"
ahahahha no no - that's the rule number one I forgot to mention: If you feel confident with your blonde hair - don't watch this video! ))))
@@AlyArt I learned what "money piece" is from your channel! Thanks so much for explaining! I have yet to watch the whole video (which I will), but I always wondered how I would look blonde...
@@KnijMagz Is that what she was saying, "money piece"? I must have missed the story on that. Would you mind telling??
rebeccareeses that’s not really the point of the video
My hair is dark honey blonde, turns light to medium brown in winter. Eyes are deep green with tawny flecks in middle and a grey-blue limbal ring. Eyebrows and eyelashes medium brown, but lashes are light at the ends. Skin is fair but has slight sallow undertone. Bone structure quite strong and clear, but dark circles under eyes! No clear idea what blonde would work for me ... Help!!! 😍
You should teach a masterclass. You have so much knowledge
YES!
Ikr! She’s amazing & also includes every race in her videos and doesn’t leave anyone out.
Tommy gibstain plenty of girls look good with shorter hair, it’s not a thing that long hair is the only good look.
Tommy gibstain why does it matter what men think looks good? If she likes short hair on herself then good for her. Don’t see any problem here, it’s just preference really.
Tommy gibstain lol did you know that people don’t have to do everything you want?? like? oMggggGgG she can actually.... CHOOSE HERSELF how she wants to look??????!!!!! that’s 😳😳 sO normal
Ugh why can't most stylists be like you? I always have questions and wants a personal consultation where they give me advice on what would work for me and my skin tone, health of hair, etc but always get responses that are general. If anyone knows any great stylists/salons in Vancouver Canada PLEASE let me know. And thanks for your video ❤ I truly appreciate you sharing your knowledge!
I'm an out of work former makeup artist & stylist (tho not a hair stylist) who would love to give normal women of all ages advice. I see them getting it from the wrong people all the time - like beautiful 'influencers' who've never done a 72 year old Black woman's and a 23 year old Vietnamese woman's makeup in the same day, let alone ever. And who aren't very good at giving fashion and style advice because they're simply trend followers themselves.
I love helping women figure out their own personal style, and what will both suit them best and work with their lifestyle and personality best. You need to find someone like me, but lemme tell ya, we're pretty rare. Most hair stylists (just like most makeup artists & fashion stylists) haven't spent decades researching hair, face shapes, historical/ period styles, different races and ethnicities, etc. They just know what they like, and what's trendy. I was more like an academic than makeup artist! But yeah, if you can find an intelligent, well-rounded stylist who has your best interests at heart, that's the way to go.
I know, I have asked many times what look is best for me. And I never get real answers. And I am not really satisfied. I wish someone look all my features and really say what they think. I wish they would be more creative!
violet_blume oh my gosh that is so cool! I'd love to learn from someone like yourself💖 if you'd ever consider passing on your knowledge, let me know!
Fern Fernis Fernie You should fly to Memphis, TN, and come see me!
Not sure if in Vancouver but in Canada, you could check out Manes by Mell. She is an amazing stylist and has also a youtube channel

Moral of the story: I'll never dye my hair unless it's a wig.
Me neither, im here trying firgure out what color wig to buy to go w my skin tone 🤣🤣🤣🤣
SMART! SO SMART! DO NOT RUIN YOUR BEAUTIFUL HAIR!!
GET A WIG, THAT'S SO SMART!! Cheers!
Where I live it's that "legend", that when you dye your hair blond for first time, you should go in neutral blond 9 or 8- due to your natural hair color. Then your own hair would show you what suits you. If you look unhealthy, get purple shampoo and tone them to ashy, if your skin is warm or neutral, you are done. Maybe neutral skinned would need sometimes touch of purple, when hair goes too brassy.
Why is this comment stuck with 666 likes????
@@dashaandino729 lol!
FN here. I agree 100% about some of us needing to keep a darker base, with balayage. Full on colour looks awful. Naturals need texture.
Right!!!
Hi fellow FN. I am a snow white type with skin condition, so going blonde (platinum would suit me) is off as it would never look as perfect as I wanted it. So I just leave it natural. It is not only the type, it is also the recommendation.
@@schneeroseful Im the typical snowhite, (Pale neutral/cool skin, you can also see my veins and bright, but..my hair is medium chestnut and my brows are blonde. My solution was going to the contrast ,with a very very ashy and light blonde, looks the same as black hair, gives to me some ''royal'' look.
I've decided to just keep my natural mousy brown base, but leave the grey at my temples. Pretend they're highlights and I asked for them.
I'm really confused how the hair color of a FN should look like. Lighter hair often looks doll and aging ( e.g. Bella Hadid with light hair). Thus going for a balayage effect with more contrast?

Wow!I never could quite describe why I sometimes love and sometimes hate highlights. I've often felt that some highlights look so "messy" somehow but couldn't explain it. Your explanation cleared it up for me. I love the "sun-kissed effect" and not the "grey hair effect".

I love my dark hair also.
Every hairdresser should watch this. I'm 34 and I'm yet to come across one that could actually have a deep understanding of colours and how to work with one's complexion. Not even hoping that any of them could know about the topic to such extent. I went blond once. I have a cool complexion and pretty high contrast in my face so I could pull it off but I had to do it at home on my own cause every hairdresser made me orange and damaged my hair.
Great job, this video is beyond excellent!
Yes! I love how you say that dark blonde hair isn’t=brown hair. It’s not just about the lightness of the hair, but also the tone. There’s hair that’s darker than brown hair and it’s still blonde. There’s shades of blonde, that almost look black and shades of brown that are very light.

deysahseya experiment with blonde wigs
You have to tone your hair after bleaching. Especially if you have thick natural black hair. You should start with a 40 volume dev w/ bleach and a 20 or 30 volume dev/ with a toner
alexangel What she said. I have thick thick black hair naturally. It takes a 30 vol developer sometimes up to 4 times. The secret is washing it out quick enough.
I definitely recommend doing lots of research on people that specialize in changing hair color from very very dark to light and finding somebody that specializes in somebody that studied just on that
Shouldn’t be that orange after all that bleaching if the person does it properly. Sorry you had a bad experience. Changing hairdressers who knows how to tone it too will probably give you your desired blonde
thank you for the olive skin section in +1! even a little mention like that from you helps me understand my complexion so much more x
I was thinking about going blonde few times, but when I think about Emily Blunt (which I found similar when it comes to skin tone etc.) I remind myself it's probably not the best idea. She is too beautiful to look bad in any hair colour, but I think she looks much better, fresher and younger as a brunette, and a little 'washed out', pale and tired in blonde, and probably I would get the same effect.
I’m olive skin with blonde hair (not naturally). I feel like I look horrible with brown hair and it washes me out/makes me look older.

We have the same features. But what really makes me look good is a deep rosy nude color. It makes my skin look pinkish.
My hair is naturally brown, but sometimes it looks so dull. For me the sunkiss jelly by l'oreal works wonders. It makes my hair dark blonde and it looks so natural and full of life. My skin is pale neutral and my eyes are blue-green.
Thank you Aly for this instructive video. :) I have a very pale and cold skin tone, either -2 or -1. As a child I was always very blonde but with age both my hair and brows got darker, I would say an ashy dark blonde shade. I miss my lighter hair so I make baby highlights in a cold blonde shade similar to the pictures at 3:35. It makes me keep some of my natural color but still gives my hair a much lighter impression. The result is very natural and I'm super happy with it. I love being blonde!
This is so strange that I'm seeing this in my recommended, because I've only recently been thinking about dying my hair and really considering going blonde! Thank you so much for your help!
Yes please, do the bob haircut video!
I tried to tell my hairdresser to do the +1 balayage exactly like in the photo (dark root and light bottom) but she started too high and it looked horrendous (like I made I had horrible super yellow random hair) on my dark brown hair. I then asked her to do darker and I ended up with a caramel tone. The problem is still the top. The bottom has lovely shade but the top looks weird. I show her the pictures next time.
This is exacly what I need! I'm going to tweak my hair on photoshop before going to salon. Thank you so much 😍

@@whoareyoutoaccuseme Ugly-ish woman here: With Aly it's kinda different because her channel is all about understanding and accepting how your body is and works. I do agree with the fact that she uses only beautiful models, but aside from that, Aly's explanations are by far the most "universal" ones I've seen on youtube. As in, she doesn't go "YOU'RE FAT. FAT UGLY. HIDE FAT" but rather "you have this complexion: you would look gorgeous with this but you may want to avoid this". I love love LOVE this channel because of that. Like, I always thought I had poor taste and that my body had a weird shape and It turns out I just had to make a few simple clothing choices and voilá.

To each their own, I guess. I just wanted to point out what I said before because, well, at least Aly is trying and her work is great for that matter.
it doesnt matter what beauty standards youre at, shes only talking about your colour and tone of your skin and if you will look good with blonde hair, and even if you are bueaty stardards "low or regular", choosing the right tone and colour for you would perhaps even enhance your real beauty, as she noted with the caramel skin tone with the same hair colour will wash them out bring out the more yellow tones or blue tones where the face might not look complimented

Olaplex on Amazon isn't fake, it's sold by the Olaplex brand. The reason why some of the reviews are saying it doesn't work or that it's fake is because they didn't use the product correctly. If you leave the product in too long then you can damage your hair. No. 3 is a concentrate so you need to use it sparingly and not everyday or continously, it's meant as a short term treatment to rejuvenate the hair. If they follow the steps correctly in the instructions then they wont experience the issues they're experiencing. Also some of the customers reviewing probably have badly damaged hair and were hoping for a total miracle. Olaplex on Amazon is fine, the problem is that there are so many reviews, you're going to get bad ones when it comes to a product that requires a certain process for different hair.
I've worn all kinds of color. But Green was my favorite and my second is blonde. This video has been informative.
Green will always be my favorite 💚
You have a true God given gift at this!... like kids that can just pick up a musical instrument and play it beautifully. I love watching you! I was a hairstylist for 15 years and loved it, but I got so busy that I got burned out. I am very creative so I am really good at it. I do not know if blond will look good on some dark haired woman, including myself. I would love to have you do this on me. I think that dark roots with ash blond would look ok, but I’m afraid to try it. I would love to have you tell me what glasses would look good. I feel like I might be too old to try certain styles.
i wish beauty tube was more like u in general!! so educational
I don't know why I watched the video... I have dark hair and do not ever intened on going blonde. Ever. And the only colour I do is red (with henna, so it gives a dark burgundy).
And yet, I stayed for the whole video, because it was very instructive. Thank you for your in-depth explanation for all contrast types ^^
The closer to the natural hair colour - the better. There is no mistakes in our natural hair colour... So the best is what nature gave us.. Just my opinion.
P. S. Aly is great!
Elena Nedeva my natural color was a horrible ash brown. I look better in every other color I‘ve ever had (which is every color that exists lol)
Yeah, generally genetics make sense
Definitely mother nature knows what she's doing a lot of the time but sometimes a little change makes a big difference!
I have verrrry dark brown hair and brown eyes and while I definitely couldn't pull off blonde (I know, I tried. I looked awful lol). I look warmer, and softer with a bit of red in my hair. It makes my skin look healthier and gives me a lil glow that I don't have naturally with my dark hair. I think my natural coloring was meant to suit someone with darker skin than I have but unfortunately I have very little to no coloring in my skin and I avoid the sun when I can so I look "hard" with my natural color

True, sometimes just a little tweak is necessary to give hair that extra shine. Goad you found your colour!
Elena Nedeva Natural or even if you want to go lighter the color you were born with. I had honey blonde hair as a child it’s turned naturally very dark now I am honey blonde adult à la bleach
wow this video is super informative and opened up a whole new world regarding choosing hair color that compliments my skin tone.
It would be nice to see a video for each body type on the different types of contrast and how it affects that same body type with a specific natural contrast.
Yes, to bob and lob video! Please touch up square, round and heart shape faces more. As well as flat face, deep set eyes. Thanks!
I am lucky I don't need to dye my hair anymore, I went grey but it is really white, great saving and better for my hair. I have naturally darker brows and hazel eyes with dark lashes and I am a theatrical romantic. Thanks for all your great videos
@Deb Barber same! I went natural 18 months ago. I was born blonde but got darker over years so I colored back to blonde. I never liked the color in my pics. My natural curly grey looks silvery platinum blonde and I get so many compliments from perfect strangers. I too have darker brows, green eyes, dark eyelashes. I'm cool undertone. The savings is great. Congrats on your journey!
omg Ive been waiting for this❤️
Everytime is like watching the presentation of your dissertation!!! You study hard a subject, prepare the specifics and present it to us! You're one of a kind Aly!❤
Natural silver, grey, or white, I find, is almost always supremely better looking /more beautiful that any kind of additive hair coloring. Not that color changes are always poor looking, but often, it's not as attractive.
This goes for men and women, both.
Me: Never dying my hair
Also Me: Wow, this is incredibly useful!!
A bit off topic, but this print on the blazer suits you sooo well! A great example of how lines and shapes work ;)
