Ditch the split shot and use a tungsten bead. You can 'oversize' the bead which will give more weight. It was fun watching you tie those flies.

I really enjoyed your video. I just got into tying flys and like working with found materials. I loved your little crubs. Who could have guessed those noodles would have worked so well. Thanks for the inspiration and thanks for sharing your exploration.

Awesome, glad you enjoyed it, and thanks for commenting! The noodles work well but ai have found that they don't last a whole year. I had some left over from when I made these in my box that I went to use almost a year later and they fell apart. So my suggestion is just make what you can use and they should last a few months! Thanks for watchin!!!

I feel like I finally got the notification as soon as it hit. Wow. I usually have to go on a search on Thursdays. Anyway it's nice to see people still make flies. Never seen anyone use ramen noodles though.

Awesome! I have heard many times that no one ever gets notified of my videos til a day or two later... For most of this youtube journey I feel like im getting to poop end of the stick🤣🤣🤣. Hopefully as I grow that stops happening. This idea was completely organic saw my daughter with these and told the wife to buy me a pack. The funny part tho is they actually sell these worms but in smaller amounts at Pa fly co( also more natural colors). So I thought I had a genious idea, but sadly I was wrong haha. It was a fun learning experience for me tho!

@@fishinwithish I'm not a big trout fisher but my old buddy used to make flies when we were younger. But it wasn't as fancy as this stuff now a days.. atleast you improvised on an idea and it worked. With creative naming

Solid tying! I'd fish all of those. Well done! Look into setting up a nymph rig. It will help you catch fish with nymphs.

@@fishinwithish I was going through my subscriber's list of who had a channel out of curiosity and landed on yours. Awesome to see you getting into fly fishing and tying. Fly fishing stigma is trout but bass fishing is a blast on the fly! The patterns you tie for them are pretty cool too. Not much bass where I am but check out @flyfishingtheozarks. He makes a lot of great patterns.

@@MainelyFlies To be honest I'm more of a smallmouth guy than a trout guy, but for late fall/winter, trout is the easier route than trying to catch a smallmouth. We have been trying to perfect the barely legal for smallies in the spring. Also been attempting some jiggy bugger for early spring. I will def check that chanel out for sure!!!

Love the idea of using the ramen noodles. Saw some similar materials at bass pro shops in the fly tying section for about 50x the cost. I'm sure those flies will work just as well.

Those look awesome! I will have to find some of those. I raid my daughter's bin of small, colored rubber bands... the ones they used to make bracelets and crap. Got a video I'm editing this weekend where a fly I made up using those rubber bands saved the day.

@@fishinwithish It's my favorite fly... it's wormy and you probably got everything to tie one. Plus, because it's pretty much just a hook you're throwing, it's easier to catch them on IMO.

My channels videos are not intended for children, this video among all videos on my channel passed youtubes inappropriate language check to be monitized, and the 4$ I made from this video isn't enough for me to justify changing my life to suit other peoples language preferences. Some enjoy the cussing, and some don't. There are about 1 million fishing youtube channels out there to choose from. If you're local, I would suggest randomfishing, Joe keeps his channel very clean!
