Great to have you along Third Fleeter! Although this wasn't my first Monster Hunter game ( The Original on the ps2 was my first.) Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate is my favorite title out of them all, Moga village is definitely my home at heart. I wish you all the best Third Fleeter! -Dusty Red of The First Fleet from Kokoto Village.
A fellow Third Fleeter I see! I was introduced into MH because my dad had a copy of Tri. since he didn't mind, I played a few times but because of my little 4 year old brain, I couldn't understand how to deliver meat and such to the Village chief's son. Luckily, I was able to come into my own as a Hunter 5 years ago with 3U. Since then, I have "wandered the world" in search of new and exciting experiences. I even went to Pokke village with my old man and got to fight a Shen Goaren! All in all, my journey has been very fulfilling. To all my fellow Hunters, may we all share in the exciting experience that is approaching in only a couple months. Until then, stay safe, be happy, and keep on hunting. -Nedmech of the Third Fleet from Moga Village.
Welp, might as well throw my two cents into this as well! Fellow third-fleeter here, first started playing because I mistook Tri for a literal first person hunting game. Best mistake of my life. Honestly, you're not alone there. My grandfather gave me this game back in the Christmas Eve of 2010 out of the fact that it had a sea monster on it. I tried it out during the holiday, but I couldn't really get into it... until I gave it a second go in the summer of 2012. I have not once missed out on any MH game since then.
Easy he is, and simple as he'll always be, ceadeus will always remain king as the closest monster hunter has gotten to making a truly peaceful giant, one that isn't some misunderstood hero, like Malzeno, or some explosion-happy edgelord, like Magnamalo, but a massive whale-like leviathan, who only wished to grind down its ever growing horns, unintentionally threatening the livelihood of the villagers who lived above.
I just recently beat this game, coming from Monster Hunter World. I was completely blown away by this fight, it evoked so many emotions in me, the feeling of something majestic, mystical even, the feeling of "i should not be here doing this, fighting this creature"... Its hard to explain, and is something i have not felt with a game since Shadow of the Colossus. It's a shame we'll probably never get something like this again, since Capcom decided to remove underwater combat instead of improving it.
Congratulations! I startes with MH3U and it hooked me on the whole series. As a nolstalgic LOVER of underwater combat however, I'm glad they took it out for the next few installments so they could explore new weapon philosophy and verticality unhindered. That being said: I long for the day the series makes a return to the depths. If anyone can make underwater combat work, I believe it's the MH team. A revisit would be so hype, especially with their new fondness for flexible movment systems (even as someone who prefers the clunkier, timing-based positional combat of the older games)
i started with MH3 and the alatreon and jhen mohran fight in online mod with my friends was also fantastic... sadly the servers switched off before long time... So beautiful remindings...

This theme is what finally pushed me into buying my copy of tri. Though ive never played it before 2 months ago, its music gives such an emotional and nostalgic feeling to me that its lead my friend and i to think my past life was a kid who adored this game. Monster hunter hasnt been in my current life very long yet, but its made it way into my heart through these powerful soundtracks and is going to stay for a very long time
Honestly the same thing happens to me but when i hear dynasty warriors themes. i believe that maybe it's not about the game but maybe you did something similar to the feeling this brings in a past life, like maybe sea fairing, but really idk so dont take my word as the legit truth.
I found it profound how this battle can be only between the lone hunter and Ceadeus, a fight not available online to do with friends. Bring back underwater fighting please MH!
Listening to the phase 1 theme has been bothering me for quite a while cause I feel like I could have heard something similar before and I just realized it reminds me of the music in Ghibli movies. Especially of Tales of the Earthsea and Princess Mononoke
I remember the first time i beat this elder dragon. It was my first monster hunter game, so caedeus was my first elder dragon. I wore an entire lagiacrus armor set and a greatsword of the same monster, as i thought it would be ironic to slay the true threat with parts of the "false" threat. I already repelled the ancient sea dragon and saw the amazing credits... But i never saw this as a "victory" over it. I halfway broke the horn of it with my greatsword, man was this satisfying. But a dragonator was the hit that finished the colossal monster off. 60 hunts later i made every weapon and the entire armor set of the caedeus. Its still my favorite monster in the franshise.
It’s a shame that we’ll probably never see Ceadeus again in an hd render because people find fighting in water hard, which is the whole point. Doing things underwater is hard for humans
I mean, it was hard because it wasn’t really well polished and a bit unfinished, even then it ate up a massive amount of development time which made working on the rest of the game much harder, which is a valid reason to not include it again. That said MH3U is my favorite video game and i’d fuckin love to see underwater combat fully realized in a MH game one day lol
Sure hope the 6th Gen is bringing back underwater, because it's the only way to expand MH's gameplay that makes actual sense outside of adding gimmicks like Arts, Clutch Claw, and Wirebugs. You've conquered the lands countless times, now take on the seas (again)
Not many people know the lyrics so here: They use the same vowel rules as Japanese so A= Ah I= ee U= oo as in goo E= Eh as in men O= oh *Main Chorus:* MAEG NU CHE TAM BADARUM ORE HURABEI AON PUUDI DHUTA BHRATURAN MEKO TCHLEI NEI'INA SAEMO FEI *Uh, the things after the main chorus:* ASHUN (Said as A-A-A SHUN) BAMI UN (BA-MI UN) KIPPI (KI-I-I PI) BIPHA MWON (BI-PHA-A MWON) SABLHAFI [AH] (SA-BL-HA-FI AH)
@@Tamanegi-P ooooh. My lord I thought it was Japanese. Makes a whole lot more sense now. Well thanks for at least providing the lyrics. How’d you go about figuring it out?
@@lygoozman125 There's actually an official transcription you can find online, (unlike most MH ost possessing vocals (sadly)) but not many people know of it, so I decided to share it here.
@@Tamanegi-P oh alright, didn’t know. And yea it kinda sucks, I’d like to know what the people are actually saying to get a bit more of an in depth meanin’
When I first got monster hunter 3 Ultimate I was 6 and this bosses 1st theme is a out of body experience it really feels like you reached the end and don't know what else lies before you it's so glorifying to hear it.
I love and hate Capcom for giving us such a unique and awesome battle against a literal sea god, slapping a masterpiece of soundtrack on that and then just be like "welp, we'll never do that again lol"
rest in peace monster hunter online :c one of the best games that didn't make it to the west fortunately there still was a big english-speaking community on there with translation packs and all

Playing Monster Hunter Tri for so long, I faced multiple aquatic battles against the Royal Ludroth, I dominated the aquatic combat which Lagiacrus, For God's sake, I even faced the Lagiacrus a thousand times in the mission to get Wivern's guts by cutting off its tail as a trophy, but the fight against the Ceadus was the only one that caused me that feeling Thalassophobia, that feeling of seeing that there is nothing, there is no up or down and your only guides are the map and Ceadus himself, without a doubt one of the best parts of the game and if you get so immersive you will feel even fear
Much as I love Ceadeus's theme, I think this medley would've been more awesome with the music that plays during "Spoken of Forever". Thanks for the all-in-one, though.
My first and only monster hunster game i finish begining to end monster hunster 3 tri and my favorite 1 and not just the story the online was amazing in 3tri good old days
I remember this game fondly as it was my start as a hunter and where I faced my first Elder Dragon being Ceadeus. While I only was able to break several parts from it and repel it, I just couldn’t go through with slaying it. But whenever I load up MH Tri, I would always go and repel Ceadeus first before doing any other hunts.
Luc The Nerdy oh I never had that problem maybe it is because you did not notice the scripted event where if it becomes enraged it goes to the opposite side of the arena and charges the dragonator?
I'm fine with the move set... But the fucking dragonator sucks ass. Jhen morhans one was soooooo much more satisfying. With ceadeus's I can hardly tell it hit.

"Although Goldbeard Ceadeus's relationship to the standard Ceadeus is unknown, and despite it being considered a subspecies, it's likely the same species as Ceadeus. Goldbeard Ceadeus is most likely just a very old Ceadeus whose body color has changed over the years." "Like Ceadeus, Goldbeard Ceadeus has luminescent bacteria and algae on its body, but, compared to Ceadeus, this subspecies has way more of the bacteria on its skin and algae in its beard." "Goldbeard Ceadeus's body color is theorized to be caused by an excessive amount of luminescent bacteria developing on its skin, making it glow a shiny gold in color, while its beard contains more algae than usual." "Because Goldbeard Ceadeus has more bacteria and algae on its body, it can live in deeper and darker waters without needing to surface for air very often. In fact, Goldbeard Ceadeus likely doesn't have to surface for air at all since it has grown so much algae in its beard." "Noticeably, both of Goldbeard Ceadeus's horns are overgrown and cover the monster's eyes. *Information of mainline series Ceadeus* "Ceadeus and Jhen Mohran are theorized to have the same ancestor. Ceadeus is also said to have lived in the Great Desert in ancient times. The Great Desert was still a huge sea in ancient times." "Ceadeus's family were at first powerful land dwellers before they later evolved for life in the deep sea. Some of their body parts evolved into fins to fit with this new lifestyle, while others completely degenerated." "Its total length is 5837.2cm, while Lao-Shan Lung is 6960cm. Its size is the true reason why it’s feared." "A Ceadeus can cause earthquakes just by rubbing its horn against rocks on the sea floor. It also causes tsunamis occasionally from the earthquakes, which reportedly destroyed an island." "Ceadeus is sometimes described as a moon. This is from the fact its pure white and looks like a huge moon in the sea at night." "Its unknown why its luminous organs glow blue and why they turn red when in Rage Mode, though the luminous bacteria on its body reacts to it by reflecting the light." "Ceadeus hide is remarkably solid. Its fur is hard to forge." "Ceadeus has a special relationship with an algae, which is the reason why it has its beard. It farms for the algae with its beard and uses the glow from the luminous bacteria as a form of photosynthesis. With this algae, Ceadeus can spend longer times underwater without having to come up for air. When it needs air, it will swim up with a burst of speed and jump out of the water for a breath like in its first intro. Its estimated a Ceadeus can hold its breath for about several months." "The Ceadeus has been known in legends in a few different areas but the Guild didn't consider them as confirmation of the monster." "The Ceadeus that caused the earthquakes in Moga was trying to wear down its horn." "Ceadeus will face off against a threat by biting them and using its body as a weapon. If that fails, it will inhale large amounts of water before firing a powerful beam from its mouth." *Source:* monsterhunter.fandom.com/wiki/User_blog:BannedLagiacrus/Elder_Dragon_Discussion?comments_page=1
While the Ceadeus is not a very hard Elder Dragon, and underwater combat was very VERY clunky, Ceadeus earns top marks for two things: scale and presence. As you swim next to it in phase one you realize how very tiny you are compared to this creature treated as equal to a force of nature in the game's story. And when you get to phase two and the music changes from serene and grand to bombastic, you realize "Oh, it's finally angry." and now you've got to use everything you can to stop it (because let's face it, you don't have the power to kill it the first time you fight it, just chase it away)

[CEADEUS]
Missed the good old days
I don't care what new players say, Kulve Taroth got nothing on this bad boy 😅
Cedaus was horny long before Kulve was. That’s all I gotta say
I found it profound how this battle can be only between the lone hunter and Ceadeus, a fight not available online to do with friends. Bring back underwater fighting please MH!
Goldbeard Ceadeus is pure epicness.
Introduced my best friend, now husband, to monster hunter, been side by side on the field ever since uwu our favorite game and monsters
Listening to the phase 1 theme has been bothering me for quite a while cause I feel like I could have heard something similar before and I just realized it reminds me of the music in Ghibli movies. Especially of Tales of the Earthsea and Princess Mononoke
so I am not the only one. Bath scene from the spirited away
Oh yes! That one as well, feels like something that Joe Hisaishi could have composed
@@Mi_mcmuffin guess we’ll see how it goes in the 20th anniversary when monster hunter 6 comes out
Sure hope the 6th Gen is bringing back underwater, because it's the only way to expand MH's gameplay that makes actual sense outside of adding gimmicks like Arts, Clutch Claw, and Wirebugs.
You've conquered the lands countless times, now take on the seas (again)
Aside from breathing underwater, they can do that perfectly fine according to Monster Hunter.
I can still feel the shivers of the battle, the final boss of my very first mh game...
Ceadeus is probably the only underwater hunt I liked and the music is a big part of that.
Na, Goldbeard Ceadeus and the Black Lagiacrus
This fight is for Me the best fight i ever seen in my Hunter carrier
In a roundabout way, we're helping the Ceadeus...it's trying to grind its horn down, and our mission is to break it.
Not many people know the lyrics so here:
They use the same vowel rules as Japanese so
A= Ah
I= ee
U= oo as in goo
E= Eh as in men
O= oh

MAEG NU CHE TAM BADARUM ORE
HURABEI AON
PUUDI DHUTA
BHRATURAN
MEKO TCHLEI NEI'INA
SAEMO FEI
*Uh, the things after the main chorus:*
ASHUN
(Said as A-A-A SHUN)
BAMI UN
(BA-MI UN)
KIPPI
(KI-I-I PI)
BIPHA MWON
(BI-PHA-A MWON)
SABLHAFI [AH]
(SA-BL-HA-FI AH)
But do you happen to know what they mean?

@@Tamanegi-P ooooh. My lord I thought it was Japanese. Makes a whole lot more sense now. Well thanks for at least providing the lyrics. How’d you go about figuring it out?
@@lygoozman125 There's actually an official transcription you can find online, (unlike most MH ost possessing vocals (sadly)) but not many people know of it, so I decided to share it here.

Little did i know this game i got when i was 11 was going to hook me on the best gaming franchise to exist
When I first got monster hunter 3 Ultimate I was 6 and this bosses 1st theme is a out of body experience it really feels like you reached the end and don't know what else lies before you it's so glorifying to hear it.
La Atmosfera de esta batalla es increible y el Soundtrack te atrapa en este duelo con el titan de los Oceanos, sin duda una caceria 10/10.
I love and hate Capcom for giving us such a unique and awesome battle against a literal sea god, slapping a masterpiece of soundtrack on that and then just be like "welp, we'll never do that again lol"
This is the most elegant and majestic theme I've ever heard in all of MH.....
But OMG this part 3:50 = So DIVINE and Majestic.....
I'm so sad that we don't have every MH Game in Europe :/ I love these Games so much

rest in peace monster hunter online :c one of the best games that didn't make it to the west
fortunately there still was a big english-speaking community on there with translation packs and all

I would have loved to hear "the end that is handed down" before the actual themes, it would have been perfect
This feels like a song from Ar Tornelico saga
Epic!
Ar Tonelico? Haven't heard of that game in ages. The one on the PS2 was actually pretty fun
My first elder dragon when i was a kid... Damn fighting him again this year made me drop some tears of nostalgia
MH Tri my first game of the series. I love it.
I still love him cool monster and fight i loved the fighting location it looked like the dark towers foundation
Ceadeus got my vote for the theme
Those damn two themes are god-tier but Ceadeus' moveset is kinda boring.
It is a Viking whale what did you expect it to do punch you?
@@V1deo_Gam3r
I mean, it always moves around the area in Phase 2, wasting your time.
You swim to hit it... And it moves away.
This is how I discovered monster hunter, along side 4U a few years after.
Please Capcom give us underwater combat back. Bring Caedeus back.
"Name: Goldbeard Ceadeus (ナバルデウス亜種)
Title: Emperor Ocean Dragon (皇海龍)
Average Length: 5837.2cm
Average Height: 3575.5cm
Order: Elder Dragon
Suborder: Depth Dragon
Family: Ceadeus
Habitats: Ocean, Underwater Ruins"
"Goldbeard Ceadeus is the rare golden-colored subspecies of Ceadeus that is considered to be even more legendary. Goldbeard Ceadeus shares many of the same adaptations as Ceadeus, but there are a few differences between the two."
"Although Goldbeard Ceadeus's relationship to the standard Ceadeus is unknown, and despite it being considered a subspecies, it's likely the same species as Ceadeus. Goldbeard Ceadeus is most likely just a very old Ceadeus whose body color has changed over the years."
"Like Ceadeus, Goldbeard Ceadeus has luminescent bacteria and algae on its body, but, compared to Ceadeus, this subspecies has way more of the bacteria on its skin and algae in its beard."
"Goldbeard Ceadeus's body color is theorized to be caused by an excessive amount of luminescent bacteria developing on its skin, making it glow a shiny gold in color, while its beard contains more algae than usual."
"Because Goldbeard Ceadeus has more bacteria and algae on its body, it can live in deeper and darker waters without needing to surface for air very often. In fact, Goldbeard Ceadeus likely doesn't have to surface for air at all since it has grown so much algae in its beard."
"Noticeably, both of Goldbeard Ceadeus's horns are overgrown and cover the monster's eyes. Despite its eyes being covered, Goldbeard Ceadeus can somehow still accurately "see" the position of a threat. It's unknown if this elder dragon has some other sense that allows it to do so."

*Information of mainline series Ceadeus*
"Ceadeus and Jhen Mohran are theorized to have the same ancestor. Ceadeus is also said to have lived in the Great Desert in ancient times.
The Great Desert was still a huge sea in ancient times."
"Ceadeus's family were at first powerful land dwellers before they later evolved for life in the deep sea. Some of their body parts evolved into fins to fit with this new lifestyle, while others completely degenerated."
"Its total length is 5837.2cm, while Lao-Shan Lung is 6960cm. Its size is the true reason why it’s feared."
"A Ceadeus can cause earthquakes just by rubbing its horn against rocks on the sea floor. It also causes tsunamis occasionally from the earthquakes, which reportedly destroyed an island."
"Ceadeus is sometimes described as a moon. This is from the fact its pure white and looks like a huge moon in the sea at night."
"Its unknown why its luminous organs glow blue and why they turn red when in Rage Mode, though the luminous bacteria on its body reacts to it by reflecting the light."
"Ceadeus hide is remarkably solid. Its fur is hard to forge."
"Ceadeus has a special relationship with an algae, which is the reason why it has its beard. Its estimated a Ceadeus can hold its breath for about several months."
"The Ceadeus has been known in legends in a few different areas but the Guild didn't consider them as confirmation of the monster."
"The Ceadeus that caused the earthquakes in Moga was trying to wear down its horn."
"Ceadeus will face off against a threat by biting them and using its body as a weapon. If that fails, it will inhale large amounts of water before firing a powerful beam from its mouth."

The peak of water combat
While the Ceadeus is not a very hard Elder Dragon, and underwater combat was very VERY clunky, Ceadeus earns top marks for two things: scale and presence. As you swim next to it in phase one you realize how very tiny you are compared to this creature treated as equal to a force of nature in the game's story. And when you get to phase two and the music changes from serene and grand to bombastic, you realize "Oh, it's finally angry." and now you've got to use everything you can to stop it (because let's face it, you don't have the power to kill it the first time you fight it, just chase it away)
Underwater combat was clunky but a good challenge. I miss it
