My father died of heart related illness when I was four. That was 39 years ago. My mother had to raise me and my three older siblings on her own. Your kind words at the beginning of this video moved me to tears. My mother is still my hero to this day.

The reimagining of Namor is, in my opinion, fantastic. Before hand he was a fairly unremarkable character, at least in general history and such. But they have fleshed out a whole and remarkable cultural backstory for he and his people, and I can't be more excited.
Actually Namor is a really cool character in the source material he has deep connections to the X-men because his a mutant and he has interactions with the Fantastic Four, the avengers and the illuminati

His character in the comics was amazing and unique
If Namor's character was written as well and the actor is as good as the trailer shows, then this character will lead this film. They really want to include this character in other films.
@@mickeymouse7726 he has a lot of "landmark" deepcuts.. first mutant first big two comicbook character that flies.. but aside from that he's always been pretty bland (well as bland as anti-heroes archetypes can be) aesthetics characterisation/story wise
Also, Wakanda Forever to Chadwick and Leticia Wright who plays Shuri who is Black Panther's sister from the first movie all the way to Avengers Endgame is definitely the new Black Panther in that suit at the end of the trailer. Because in the comics, Shuri does take the mantle of Black Panther.

I'm still holding out hope for Lupita as the Black Panther. She was perhaps the greatest hero from the first movie.
I think Okoye is proud of her standing in the Dora Milaje. It would be cool to have her as BP, but I don't think she would out of principle. My guess is Shuri. It would make sense in that the mantle would stay within royalty.
I am still in the "It's Okoye" boat cause they play her theme song during the reveal, Also her dismount from the ship is something She was used to seeing when piloting T'Challa.

I enjoy your reactions, I can tell you’re a artist. You’re sensitive like I am and you see the beauty in the artistry of the shows and trailers. I’ve read marvel comics since the 70s. I know Namor from the comic books, but I don’t know how they are portraying him in the movies…I will be interested to see how the story plays out. We don’t have a movie theater in my town, I’ll have to wait for it to stream online.
Namor is Marvel's "Aquaman-like" character. He was "ocean-focused" , protecting the oceans and their inhabitants was his' purpose. He opposed the other Marvel heroes when needed and allied with them when it served his purposes.
In the comics Shuri does wear the BP uniform and is dope in the comics, so if the movie follows the same story then she will done the BP suit.
I cannot wait for this movie! It's gonna bring the feels, the action, the scenery. So pumped!

not sure, but I think the dots on the new panther helm matches Shuri's face markings in the first movie.
Namor was also apart of the Invaders alongside captain america which in the comics is a world war 2 era superhero team that fought Nazis

For those of us that remember, in that film Michael Corleone, the youngest sibling wanted nothing to do with the "family business" &was free to pursue interests that didn't correlate to his father's empire or his family's culture.. then his older brother &Corleone family capo is killed.. his father is gravely injured.. his family is under attack from all sides..
&though the youngest he ends up going ona journey of self discovery &a baptism of fire.. reluctant at first but eventually taking up the mantle..
If there's another film analogy that best suits Shuris "hero's journey" in this present moment I've yet to see it
&if you pause &look at the suit you can see Shuris war-dots on the mask of the suit 🙂

Namor is the first mutant, half human / half Atlantian., he is technically the first hero with the ability of flight since he came out in 1939 when Superman didn't fly yet. As you can see he floods Wakanda which is terrifying since they established Wakanda is above sea level and that throne room is on a mountain

Namor (Atlantis) and T'Challa (Wakanda) are like the USA and Russia. They exist in a Cold War environment. Atlantis is OLD and technologically advanced, and Namor is a bit of an anti-hero, not quite the villain. However, the two nations have fought in the comics, and it appears the movie follows the Doom War story arc.

Black Panther could, when it comes to presenting issues that intertwine History, Politics and Science Fiction, present several topics of study and debate.
💡One of them leads us to Science, Technology, Inventiveness and African and Afro-descendant Pioneering.
📚Another for aspects of several African Civilizations that have Matriarchy and matrilineality as an ancestral nuclear element, such as the Candaces in Kush (Nubia).
💀And, finally, the impacts of capitalism, neoliberalism Imperialism, Colonialism, Structural Racism and Necropolitics.

II'm very curious to see how "Pre-Hispanic" Civilizations will be portrayed, Ryan Coogler is usually very detailed in this regard!
Namor is definitely all about blurred lines. That's a very apt description of him.
As far as who the new Black Panther is the logical thing, and even judging from her build, it looks like Shuri. But there's one thing that has me wondering about that. In the trailer we see Okoye blocking bullets individually with her spear. Even for one of the Dora Milaje, those are some pretty hardcore reflexes and precision for a non enhanced person. So, while I expect it to be Shuri, I would love if it were Okoye. And I could definitely see her mother not wanting her to take on the mantle, and the risk, after she's lost her husband and her son, and Shury is the last of the bloodline.
Shuri makes most sense, she is a Black Panther in the comics, and she would be next in line in the family to claim the throne.
this movie takes place after the blip which is why okoye mentioned to nat in endgame about the earthquake in the bottom of the ocean

I am African. In my culture, the women have more respect. When you marry, you must consult your aunt first (dad's sister) she's the most senior person in the entire family. She is your greatest ally and your spouse's when there's a marital dispute. Women hold the entire family unit and community together - "Empower a woman, empower a village" (African proverb)

I made the decision that I am going to see this movie on Opening Night, something I haven't done in well over a decade because I don't like crowds. But for the culture......I need to be there and experience this in person.

Even though Namor was from Atlantis BEFORE Aquaman love the change to Mayan/Talocan/Mesoammerica and give Latin's a platform. He's def not bad guy or the villain per se. I feel like they may be hiding someone and want to steer away from controversial those of different ethnicity in wars together.

The markings on Black Panther's mask matches the marks on Shuri's face, so I think it's a good bet that she replaces her brother as protector. I don't know the antagonist from the comics, so this film should be especially interesting.
My only lingering question is...Red Rock or Suncoast? IMAX for the win!
Great reaction that was riri Williams aka iron heart.They changed up Namors origins a bit by making him central American but he is the first mutant so theres that & there are many different reasons in the comics as to why they attack wakanda Victor Doom who is "rumored" was pulling strings to get vibranium or it could be Attuma who we see in the trailer with the hammerhead skull on his head guess we just gotta wait & see what they choose from. Comics Namor is a dutiful, arrogant, short-tempered and vengeful ruler. The wellbeing of Atlanteans always comes first, but if he can, he errs on the side of good. He has many times allied himself with heroes to fight evil be he can also be a major asshole.
The only thing I cant figure out is why land locked Wakanda and Atlantis seem to have a disagreement. Otherwise, so excited for this. Looks so good.

For a while I thought it was Nakia in the suit. I still wonder if Marvel will do that since they love to misdirect. But seeing the dots on the mask that match up with the dots Shuri had on her face in the first Black Panther makes me think it’s her.

I look forward to watching this film in the theater opening weekend (I got my tickets!) and as I have previously suggested, I would recommend that you would as well to take advantage of the cinematic qualities of this film.
Namor is usually portrayed as an anti-hero more times than an actual "villain". He is hot-headed, arrogant and stubborn but he is also loyal, noble and always put his people before himself even it means his life. This usually manifests itself as Namor declaring war on the surface world to protect his underwater kingdom.

Namor is not, strictly speaking, a villain. He was a member of the Illuminati with Tony, Dr. Strange, Prof X, Blackbolt, and Reed Richards. While he is not a villain, he is, absolutely, an unpleasant person, and has had beef with Wakanda. He is the leader of his people and a head of state and demands respect as such while looking out for the interests of his nation. Personally I do not care for the character in the comics, but I'm sure his portrayal here will be much more sympathetic. But make no mistake: Namor may be (comparatively) unknown, but Namor is a BIG DEAL.
*Okoye would also be my pick to be BP. She's already a spectacular warrior. Giving her the heart-shaped herb would make her incredibly powerful.

The first movie was universally loved. If this movie fails to meet expectations I think it will be due to the story and how well its written rather than racists. Just my opinion.
