Huh. Well, the first line of this song is coming true soon. From a Wall Street Journal piece yesterday: ". . . Jon Sobel [is the] chief executive and co-founder of Sight Machine Inc., which helps companies manage the data pouring off their automated assembly lines. He can’t name his clients, but they range from a Big Three auto maker to a famous apparel company, all of which seek his company’s help in automating factories overseas. "The end results of this trend, in America and elsewhere, are what are known as *'lights out' factories, where processes are so automated that there’s no need to illuminate the production line* except when it breaks down."
Me too, i took me ages to find this song. all knew the first beats and remembered the lyrics were something like ''...moviestar''. Almost impossible to google rhythms but i did. Then i realize my brother and i used to watch Cliche video skates and it felt amazing how this song got stuck in my head for years.
No. They are not alike at all except that they are both groups of musicians. MGMT simply isn't comparable to an amazing band like Grandaddy. I'm aware of both their back catalogs well, and I would say comparing them would be like comparing The Beatles to Hanna Montana.
I saw them on this tour and this track was surprisingly heavy, a truly underrated band.

My old shitty band covered this. Badly. Even forgot half the lyrics in our only recording of it. Nice one, me. But, there's no song more fun to play.
