It hurts my heart to see Kevin playing. I saw them in Newcastle UK shortly before his passing. Thanks for being part of the band that have brought us such awesome and beautiful music. RIP.
@@samuelmoreno36 Same thing here. I didn't learn the existence of Frightened Rabbit until I learnt their lead singer's crippling depression lead to his passing.
I saw them in Leeds on the Sumday tour. They were skateboarding outside their bus during the day and just hanging about. I bought a t-shirt off Kevin the bassist, and an Arm of Roger album, as he was working on the merchandise stall. It's still my favourite gig.
"I don't know what to say, I just want to keep on playing then go out there and be one of you guys" - good old Jason. I wish this band were still going.
I remember seeing this on TV at the time. I would've been 13. The sound always stuck with me. Glad I've found it again. Great set. Also, I remember one of the presenters (Lauren Laverne?) introducing the band by saying it looked like the drummer had tried to eat a bear. Forget no one had beards like that in '03
My mate made me go to the other stage to see this.... Been one of my favourite bands ever since. Saw them again in Brighton about 4 years ago. Proper band.
This was how I discovered this amazing band. I’d lost my mates and within ten seconds of Jason starting to sing I did not care that I was on my own. Still the greatest set I’ve ever seen, they made that Glasto for me. What a ducking band!
If you like them, you'll love this: Arm of Roger - I Like Lo-Fi Recordings ua-cam.com/video/aV5wLv7tA6s/v-deo.html from the album 'The Ham and Its Lily' (2002)
thanks so much for posting that, there're one of my favourite band and unfortunately I missed this gig. I saw them in 2001 for on The Software Slump tour and this concert will always remain one of the most beautiful I've ever seen. I'm hoping to see Jason for his solo album.
i was there; they came on, Jason said " Hi, we're Grandaddy; there's five of us on stage and we took six different drugs between us..." and they ROCKED!
If you haven't heard their brilliant album The Sophtware Slump I highly recommend that you do, its a masterpiece. I saw them in 2005 at Brixton Academy, London and they were amazing. Such a shame they split, they had a real unique sound.
I saw them play in Atlanta - they used a projector to incorporate video through their routine. They played Levitz at double speed with a great montage of vintage cartoons. I wish it was on video.
I met Jason once and told him how much I liked the really cool video footage they would play on screen at the shows. I think he was maybe not expecting that to be the thing I wanted to talk about. 😆 But he was very nice and I will always remember that conversation with him. Just a really modest guy and funny.
ey mate its been 11 years but this hurts to read so much now, especially with the fact that kevin garcia. they might not even do live shows any more because of his passing but ya never know.
like most people i first heard them in "28 days later" soundtrack with am 180, ive proper loved them ever since then, i wish i cud of seen them live at sum point, its a crime they were never massively famous.
I only found them last year because PUP did a cover of AM 180 and I realised that was the song I had stuck in my head for years. Glad I found them though.
Great sound. I've been away from the UK for a few years now and Glastonbury is one of the things I really miss. Reading wasn't bad but Glasto was a full body immersion ;) Would have loved to have been there for this :)
aWESOME VIDEO. I saw them in New Orleans twice and they were amazing both times. I met them and smoked pot with kevin in their bus. quite hospitable of him. They're not trying to look hilbilly. that's just how they dress and keep their beards. All these dudes are from the suburban california skate scene (that's how they met), filled with jason's dreaded mini malls. not really hillbilly at all. more like bored middle class.
Just enough? Balance is good...best not to overdo it. A band this awesome should only be appreciated in moderation. Enjoy responsibly. Granddaddy LITE!!! NOW with extra words n stuff!
hate the drums in this version but it's whatever ... not saying drummer is bad or its wrong ... i just think the actual drums just dont fit with the song.....
Aaron is a legendary beast of the drum set and a master of subtlety. I've never found his technique to be lacking rather always keeping it tight and simple with some essential details that make his contributions unique. Keep hold in it down aaron! Check out his beat blasting skills in his current band, the good luck thrift store outfit if you haven't heard them yet. Not on the same level of epicness as the grandiose-daddy but nothing to sneeze at either. Highly listenable old timey country western folk-punk vibes with a touch of modernization...they do a country version of sabotage by beasties boys for chrissake doesn't get any more exciting and courageous than that!
It hurts my heart to see Kevin playing. I saw them in Newcastle UK shortly before his passing. Thanks for being part of the band that have brought us such awesome and beautiful music. RIP.
It's sad to just find this band and realize the bass player passed away.

I was at that show and feel blessed to have seen them. My mate got me into them and we all went that night, it was great.
Absolutely captivating.
One of the best band ever, has created a new kind of music.
One day people will recognize their talent.
Sumday.
Completely agree.. phenomenal band
I was at this show eighteen years ago as a twenty year old. Absolutely loved it. And I still love them.
I've watched this so many times now. Bands are great in a certain time & place. Grandaddy was great right then. Man, really great.
I saw them in Leeds on the Sumday tour. They were skateboarding outside their bus during the day and just hanging about.
I bought a t-shirt off Kevin the bassist, and an Arm of Roger album, as he was working on the merchandise stall.
It's still my favourite gig.
Oh man I miss them so much.
Genius....just genius!!!
Sometimes I put 'Laughing Stock' on repeat for 20 or 30 minutes when I just want to zone out. SUCH an underrated band.
Good shout man
Not underrated amongst us my GD friends. Laughing stock is one of my favourite tracks too.
Wonder if picked that title as nod to one of his favourite bands, Talk Talk. Their final album was also called Laughing Stock.
@@bulliboyz Jason is constantly nodding to his favorite artists and bands. ELO makes several appearances in his music so yeah, its definitely a nod.
Sick solo on Laughing Stock. Jason always changes things up live. The mark of a true explorer of this magic thing we call music.
Bless you Kevin makes me both sad and happy watching you. So lucky to have seen you play with the lads in Dublin. What a band
i was there, a very special moment in time for me ,changed my whole life
"I don't know what to say, I just want to keep on playing then go out there and be one of you guys" - good old Jason. I wish this band were still going.
*get done playing
They’re back!
I remember seeing this on TV at the time. I would've been 13. The sound always stuck with me. Glad I've found it again. Great set. Also, I remember one of the presenters (Lauren Laverne?) introducing the band by saying it looked like the drummer had tried to eat a bear. Forget no one had beards like that in '03
Sweet. This grows on me the more I listen/watch it... Grandaddy delivers.
My mate made me go to the other stage to see this.... Been one of my favourite bands ever since. Saw them again in Brighton about 4 years ago. Proper band.
One of the best bands ever. I was lucky enough to see them several times including an in-store performance.
Still amazing, still inspiring, great great band
Jason and the boys - what a band!
This was how I discovered this amazing band. I’d lost my mates and within ten seconds of Jason starting to sing I did not care that I was on my own. Still the greatest set I’ve ever seen, they made that Glasto for me. What a ducking band!

Hear this song, and you will never forget the melody.
we who love them - and experience them live - are lucky. excellent
There will never be a greater band. Grandaddy is the best!!!!!!!!!
I love seeing Jim have so much fun!
The shite that headlines festivals these days and then there’s bands like Grandaddy that hardly anyone has ever heard of. What a life we lead!
Just so damn good, always lakes me smile, really wish i got to see them, please come back and inspire me again
Ce groupe a un grand talent, Superbe!!!!

Pioneers in American music...
Excellent Band...Many records...
OWN LABEL!!! (indie)
Grandaddy will be missed!
I miss them so much.
Two great songs. Thanks for sharing.
sometimes, every now and again (thank fuck), a band transcends what you or me think of them, here's one of them
little neil in his voice
My fav band now done some great stufc
touring in september ! marvellous . was in crowd for this , great live act
repose en paix Kevin
Great to see a live vid of these, yes I saw them play it live too in 2017, a real mind-blower - Kevin, taken so soon, no fair ...
Great band
i was there; they came on, Jason said " Hi, we're Grandaddy; there's five of us on stage and we took six different drugs between us..." and they ROCKED!

Modesto/Knights Ferry/ Oakdale triangle.. ain't no jokedale !!!
It's great to see when mess up at now it's on. When Jason laughs and says "something like that"
It's a cool moment^^
What a band, thanks for this video, hope they get their new LP out soon
RIP Kevin
this is an absolutely awesome video
yep it is :-)
The song is called "laughing stock" from the "under the western freeway" album.
I saw them play in Atlanta - they used a projector to incorporate video through their routine. They played Levitz at double speed with a great montage of vintage cartoons. I wish it was on video.

know how you feel, i'd loved to have seen them live.
i'm hoping jason tours when his solo album comes out this year
ey mate its been 11 years but this hurts to read so much now, especially with the fact that kevin garcia. they might not even do live shows any more because of his passing but ya never know.
Kevin-Backing vocals of an angel
and the glorious day shall arrive and the Granddaddy shall ride again!!
Jason Lytle is so good it's hard to believe he's not Canadian.
I feel like he sounds like
Neil on I took ur advice
One of the few bands I would pay real money to see again.
those drums sound freaking nice
thinking the same thing.
I'm inclined to agree with you! Absolutely irreplaceable.
I wish I'd gotten the chance to see them live...
I was there with my friend. Now I'm far away and I miss my friend.
saw these guys in seattel at the crockadile cafe where mad season (lane staley) did their live album. now alot of people know who grandaddy is. :)
This video gets me a bit emotional....such an incredible band....i'm gonna miss them so much. This is a brilliant performance as well.
like most people i first heard them in "28 days later" soundtrack with am 180, ive proper loved them ever since then, i wish i cud of seen them live at sum point, its a crime they were never massively famous.
Earnest, haunted, spaced out melodies .
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Possibly the best band most people have never heard of. Bloody disgrace.
I only found them last year because PUP did a cover of AM 180 and I realised that was the song I had stuck in my head for years. Glad I found them though.
fantastic video, m8
OOOH I'm on this video!!
Wow, such a good vibe. Every Other Me would love to be your supporting act! :)
Great sound. I've been away from the UK for a few years now and Glastonbury is one of the things I really miss. Reading wasn't bad but Glasto was a full body immersion ;)
Would have loved to have been there for this :)
the second song kicks ass! I love the drummer smoking a cig while playing.
Amazing singer
Grandaddy RIP
they were very successful and toured the world!!! i wish i was that underrated!
AND WE AGREEEEEEEEEE
@Frabulon Those who appreciate them, really really appreciate them though.
yes! i love that nose pick at about 5:00...
Sad to know that the band has given it's all. Awesome Colab would be with damon alb
man, they really upped the tempo on *Now It's On*...I've noticed a lot of bands who up the tempo on their live songs, for some reason...
progressive lo fi
did you see the Tor on the hill?
grandaddy & meat pups are my salt and sugar
They should never have split up, just taken an hiatus for as long as they needed. That Jason Lytle was a contrary wee bastard to be sure...
Why did Lyttle ditch his beautiful band? I love them to death - maybe he did too.
More like FASTDADDY :D
Lytle is a genius
Hi I recommend an indie song called 'Looking Into The Mirror' By Robert Nix
aWESOME VIDEO. I saw them in New Orleans twice and they were amazing both times. I met them and smoked pot with kevin in their bus. quite hospitable of him.

*disappointed love mode*
Stupid losers! I hate these bastard quitters!
*sobs*
Not a fan but they are just brilliant along with pavement!
Like...by choice? Or just not a fan... *yet* ??? We'd love to have you on the team, mate, I think I speak for all of us.
*Stipe hehe
Who's your daddy?
Young Michael Stripe?
vocalist sounds like pinback a bit
where truckers go when they retire.
Stripe? Gosh dern spellcheck...
I love their music but its boring to see them live. But good for Chillout
Amazingly unpretentious (or you could argue way too pretentious) band. So honest and so stubborn it killed them. T T
i like ,but not to much
Just enough? Balance is good...best not to overdo it. A band this awesome should only be appreciated in moderation. Enjoy responsibly. Granddaddy LITE!!! NOW with extra words n stuff!
hate the drums in this version but it's whatever
Which song are u referring to? There are two in the vid mate!
