  • In this quick tip tutorial, I show the 3 standard hand and wrist stretches for artists to do on the daily to help minimize pain and hopefully prevent injury! I would recommend doing this daily as we have to take care of ourselves do make sure we can keep doing what we love, longer!
    This was requested and made for my dear friend, Angela! I hope you enjoy your daily hand stretching =D

    According to my physiotherapist, you should try to never bend your hand so much inward (where your palm would face yourself), or even shake your hands vigorously. This is because nerves that go there get squeezed under ligaments that go over your wrist and as time goes on, and you do that too much, the nerves basically become damaged. So please, before you do any stretching that involve bending your hand inward like the second stretch vonnart shows, ask a professional! I'm not saying this won't do anything positive but do be careful. I only know this because I messed my hand up really bad from drawing too much and had to see a physiotherapist. Take care of yourselves!

      I knew about the same about the stretch in the thumbnail. You have to be very careful with that, at least me, i'm not in the best of shape :P xD

      Actually my best friend is a personal trainer and exercise enthusiast (KatMusniFitness on UA-cam) and we are creating a FULL artist specific workout which focuses on the back, core, and glutes! Expect the video early next week =]

    I have very feeble wrists and chronic tendinitis in my drawing arm, so I think this is gonna help me a lot (I can't stretch it half as much as you, but it's a start). So thank you! Very useful indeed :)

    Holy crap your wrist is so flexible!
    Thanks for the tips by the way, I've been told as an artist I should be stretching my wrist periodically but no one ever told me HOW before.

    At 65 & paint w acrylics & water colors I am now always warming my hands up by (very slow exercises) & if see your thumb knuckle is looking lighter (stop & rest) as very lil blood flow going through & that nerve will not respond well.
    Still have hand pain & often must take a week or two break from painting.
    So if can start younger please do them but make sure doing them correctly.

    • @YskarAlbumLuna
      @YskarAlbumLuna Рік тому

      No, you should do it after a initial warm-up and then only after your hands gets tired. Overstretching can be just as bad as not stretching at all.
