- Barry White and the Speed Shop team are exhausted. The challenge of transforming a rusted wreck into a gleaming, powerful, super muscle car is enormous in itself. But every month, for the last 9 months, they've done exactly that. Now, there is just one car left to build.
For the grand finale, Barry is looking to create something truly unique and buried away at the back of a scrap yard, he finds it. The Dodge Dart.
Stock standard, this was not a vehicle to get an enthusiast's heart racing. It was a compact, with good but not outstanding performance. That was until someone got the idea of dropping in a massively powerful Hemi engine, and creating the fastest accelerating car on the road.
Barry plans to recapture the spirit of that '69 legend, by building his own Hemi Dart. After completing nine previous cars on time, he's confident he can do it. Maybe too confident. Before he's even bought the wreck, Barry's committed to sell the Dart at the Russo and Steele auction, in Scottsdale Arizona, at any price. He has to get the car there, and unless it's perfect, he'll lose a fortune.
Designer Chris Brown has a plan to bump up the price, by injecting a little Rock and Roll into the Dart. He's got a contact with the 1980s band Poison. It's a perfect fit. The "Poison Dart". But can he convince drummer Ricky Rocket to come down the Speed Shop and give the car his blessing?
4 weeks. An implausibly powerful car. A rock star to wrangle. Selling at any price. Can Barry White pull off perhaps the biggest challenge he's faced in the series?
If the Dart misses the target, it will end up costing Barry a fortune.
I'm a Ford Guy but this little Dart is a true rocket and I'd love to drive the wheels off it... Sweet Little Ride Fellas, love your work.!!!
barry you are good at what you do because you love doing this , awesome work brother !
Very impressed. I've been a MOPAR man for 40 years now. I even worked for a Chrysler/Plymouth/Dodge dealer for 12 years.
someone got a nice Dart! Best car of this series in my opinion.
I agree 👍
It was a privilege and honor to see them remove that drive shaft. Nice to see people doing things the right way! 6:55
Probably wanted the slip yoke left in the trans so it didn’t piss fluid everywhere
Driveshaft was useless to them anyways
Love these shows. Wish they’d keep rock’n it!
That car is like Awesome!, and my favorite band is also Poison!!!!!, I was a power lifter in the 80's, and jammed to their music all the time!!!
beautiful car, shitty wannabe band. REAL METAL RULES, GLAM IS FOR TOOLS!!!
Scott C
Your still gay.
"Don't buy a car built on a Friday". These guys rush thru every car they build.
This was the best build, no doubt. Fantastic !!! Oh, and I'm a Ford guy, that shows how much I love this car. Perfect.
Ron Jenkins...Absolute legend.
the who???
I went to a Poison show back around this time ( It was all hair metal bands )
Anyways my EXWIFES favorite band is Poison. So I went out to have a smoke and Rickki came out the side door and asked for a light. Spent about 15 minutes talking to him acted like I had no idea who he was ( I'm sure he constantly gets mobbed by fans but treated him like a normal guy) He was the nicest person in the world. Had a GREAT conversation with him and he went on to play the show WHICH KICKED ASS. And my ex never believed I talked to him. But I think he liked being treated like a normal guy and I have a story to last a lifetime. Thanks Rikki for being a great guy.
Wow ...I was worried they wouldnt finish on time ...that was scary glad it all worked out !
We can thank Mr. Norm's Grand Spalding Dodge for the big block 68&69 Dart GTS.
Rather Baked
Worked there
You can thank norm for alot of cars and TRUCKS

Wow! I had a 75 Dart Swinger in high school. My dad litterally got it from a tiny old lady with 35k on the odometer. Strangly a spedo that went to 120mph. Started as a stock 318 v8 3 speed auto with a small 2 barrel carb @140hp factory and 17 sec 1/4 mile. I think all my changed maybe got it to 250hp or better but it improved to 15 sec 1/4 mile. I swaped the exhaust out for a 2.5 inch pipes with flowmax muflers and a custom x pipe, it got a Holley 650 4 barrel carb and ported Eddelbrock intake, ported heads, Eddelbrock camshaft for better mid range to pull ahead after the launch, roller rockers and lifters, chrome valve covers, chrome metal water pipes, chrome large capacity oil pan with high flow pump, MSD ignition, distributor, spark wires, HKS plus, and a free flowing Eddelbrock air filter. I deleted the AC,went electric water pump and under drive alternater pull to reduce drag on the belt. Custom sway bars front and rear with custom strut braces front and rear along with custom brackets under the body to stiffen it all up in the corners. It had golden brown paint with a vinyl top that was flawless and all the trim was painted flat black. Hahah...I had vinyl stickers on the top of the windshield that said "How Fast?" The back window said "OttRod" my last name is Ott. And the trunk lid had said "Bye bye!" I had the front dropped 3 inches and the back jacked up 2inches. It had Crager Mag wheels with 205/50 15 front and 225/60 15 rear Good Year white letters. I took the radio antenna and heated it in a few places bending it into a box shaped sculpture painted flat black along with the wiper arms. That car had high school kid screaming from its looks as It came down the road! It wasn't a super muscle car but it was super fun and my love. My dad sold it while I was in boot camp.
Bad ass beautiful car this ford guy would be proud to own it .
One of my favorite car, wish I had the money and buy it.
i so miss watching barry build car rocket's and the burnouts at the end of the show. please make some more... please
I can't believe it's been 16 years I remember watching it
By for the sweetest ride................ POW TO THE MOON!!!!

IT'S amazing that the newer Hemis produce QUITE a bit more HP. It would be nice to see one of those conversions.AND, TWIN TURBO'S ARE AN OPTION TODAY.
And it keeps going higher. The Hemi, LS, Coyote all capable of 1000+hp. Back when my dad grew up in the height of the muscle car era 400hp was a lot. Not we have 4 bangers making that from the factory. Great time to be a gear head.
They are experts at building muscle cars, he has a reputation for being a great restoration builder but he can never find a hemi when he needs one. Always a last minute find and they always make the deadline for the auction. WOW THEY WERE REALLY SWEATING BULLETS THIS TIME!!!!!????

Kevinvansea ...alot of this stuff is scripted by the producers and directors...so it was scripted to go down to the last minute... I have done some car TV type shows few years ago
Yeah, if you'll notice all the build shows come down to wire. For some reason they think it never gets old.
Barry really is talented, his cars are going to be worth a lot more than they are selling at auction one day, too. It's the producers who cause all these issues and drama, they want the show to be a certain way, for ratings and some stupid collared shirt wearing concept dreamt up in an office which is never based on reality. It's a shit show, but the cars are fantastic.
New parts dragged on the floor. More paint touch ups.
pretty cool car...amazing tradespeople...kuddos to them all....
Curious how reliable these cars are after they leave the auction.
Dodge dart broke down in the parking lot.
An old dodge man loves it wish I had the money and have you make one for me 🏎🏎🏎👍👍👍😀
Great job guys the poison touch everything beautiful car, Long as Chris doesn't fuck up the Rims
What a great vid. Friend of family been Mopar for ever. GTS340. At least he kept his.
Glad you enjoyed. Thanks for Watching & Subscribing!
That yellow car would have brought more without blue flames
That's your opinion. But I guarantee your opinion is completely wrong
If the rear wheels weren’t so large (too tall!) and the bonnet scoop look like a last minute after thought, that car would look awesome.
Beautiful
I can't believe they were dragging all those new parts across the floor.
My dad had a Dart as his first car... He sold it and bought a VW-bug because that was 'cheaper to run' while he went to college.
~JD
me too !
Go BIG OR GO HOME, not Mopar guy but I love the car.
A signed Ricki Rocket Poison Dart. 🚀
I love the way the did this built
It's always the same story. We have to hurry because we have only five days to finish the car. These guys never heard nothing about planning ahead?
It’s just to build suspense. They probably take much longer than 5 days.
@@daviddonaghy6494 I guess you're right.
"I have never seen a hemi dart at auction ever"
Next line
" I seen one last year auction "
Lmao
I love that car, great job.!
Garvino does all the painting, yet tony gets all the recognition! What's up with that?
you're a racist !

All Tony does is complain 😂
As it should be!
He said he was going "No Reserve" saying it was something they had never done yet the Torino had No Reserve in the last show.
must be the same day but different episodes.
Iloveyour Car Show
Love the small muscle like dart Nova Vegas and even pintos if done right.
Most unhumble, unsecure man in the history-somehow great cars.
ya that build was definately kool with kool guys get n er dun !!
Thus show was on tv, so even if this car would've sold 15 grand at auction, overall with the tv money , they wouldn't lose money
15k, please. With all the work they did would be at least 25k maybe as high as 35k.
Not a Dodge fan but this is the one I would want.
Sleeper...hott stuff!
I always heard my mah reminiscing about her 1970 Dart Swinger with the slant 6. I even had for a time a 1970 Impala. Wish I kept it.
Thank go Wayne was there to help him put in the torsion bars
Miss this show, it was great, only when the guy sez Maestro berry white, I look to see the Maestro Barry White and the love unlimited orchestra
jerry rigging 101
iv watched this while season and you would think thay would splash a few g,s on a lift for all the cars hahaha
Ron Jenkins reminds me of a young Harry Shearer.
They laid the fenders flat for painting *again* :D
Put a 340 in it! My 340 dart was a killer in the 1970s!
No matter what you do to the 340 you would not beat that car at the end of a 1/4. I had a 69 340 swinger myself.
I had to put my Bayou La Batre Reeboks on to watch this show
Look Joe Dirt showed up in his Super B lmfao jk. Ron does some awesome work, and that Super B is just SICK!!!!!!!!!
Randy Cable. Daytona not a super B.
Everytime I watch a video such as this, they always slap those huge wheels on the older muscle cars. They do not go with that era. That Dart would have looked sooooooo much better with a 14 inch set od S/S Cragar wheels from that era...
Them 16. 18. 20 inch wheels go good on the modern muscle but not at all on 60s and 70s Chevelles, Mustangs, Chargers, or any other muscle machines from that time!!!
When they mentioned which wheels they could use, I thought to myself--a set of Cragar SS :)
18, 20" wheels and bigger look stupid even on modern cars. And they are non-functional, taking away horsepower, handling and ride.
The dart wheels suck. Period.
Nice car, I would have kept 15" wheels, but it's nice
Wayne dropped that cross member in two seconds !
The low profile pro touring tire fad isn't makin it. A 15 in wheel and huge tires is the traditional bad ass method. Looks so much better.
Hurry up and get it painted... Just to do some more welding and grinding on it. All the cars he builds get painted before rest of stuff is ready
I love it!
A very nice car the auctioneer should have mentioned dash signed by Ricky From Poison might have got the price up
a bit more
Who would've guessed that Ron was into 80s hair rock bands lol
Pimp. Beats the hell out of the millennial freaks we see today & the garbage they call music!
Most of them can't even spell.
Maybe I'm wrong, but aren't those the same wheels they put on the 1970 Chevy El Camino?
The cars look good but if it was up to me i'd be keeping them more original looking. There are lots of negative comments here about big modern wheels on these cars, 15 inch centerlines or other vintage types on this car would've been a perfect choice
Nice hemi head dart
I love the car's he fixes up but who in there right mind would buy a Bond Bomb. I never even thought they still sold Bondo.
The new owner of this car got his moneys worth with such an awesome car and most importantly is there are not that many. So sick of Chargers and Cudas
Crap I wish I had this Guys Coin. I tell ya tho, if I could go Cruisin in a Hemi Dart whenever I wanted, I wouldn't give a dang whether it was sportin an Automatic (like the feller said those 727 Torquflites were tough) or a 4 gear( ok I'd definitely prefer the stick), I do know it would be a dead heat between me and my Old Lady as to who had the biggest fastest Orgasm when that Accelerator got tramped on!
Robert. Richy is a jealous little twerp, pay him no never-mind.
my moneys on the automatic. its quicker than a four speed. for me id drive both / but i personaly prefer the 4speed.
suprised that they dont have a chief easy liner and shark measureing system , they are the state of art pulling and measureing with computer print out of what was done makes that work exact and easy
I watched all of them
I lived through the muscle car era. This isn't a muscle car. It's a rusty, cheap old daily driver with a brand new expensive crate engine bolted in, filled with Bondo, painted a horrible shade of orange, with an ugly "racing stripe" added for kicks. Today it fills some old gent's second childhood vision of a dream car. But originally it probably came from the dealer with a slant six, no air, no power anything, maybe three on the tree or the basic auto trans - just el-cheapo transportation. It would have sold in its original trim as a starter family car, costing about two grand, but without AC it would sell only in areas where rolling the windows down or cranking the vents backward got rid of the summer heat. We made fun of Darts back in the day, until they started putting 440s in them, which would just barely beat the heavier mid-size cars in the quarter. Nothing back then ran much faster than mid-fifteens, without some super hot rodding or nitrous. Most "muscle cars" got bought by middle-class parents to make their kids look cool. Then the kid spun the tires a couple of times until he (or daddy) realized that was money going up in smoke behind him. He maybe did a rolling start race once or twice, then settled down to get married and have a kid, or tried to stay in college, all to avoid the draft.
There are a lot more so-called muscle cars breaking 15 today than there were back in 66-72.
they only put a hemi in a dart one year, 1968, and only in about 70 cars.
pghjr62
And.......
Just curious
Your absolutely correct sir, they were called supersports, barracudas & darts, wasnt allowed to drive on streets, both sixpack hoodscopes, plexi windows
Wrong, 1968 and 1969. And no 6 packs 2X4BBL's only.
@@kevinlimo696 Wrong! 68 only for the Hemi! 69 Darts got a 440, and the 69 440 was street legal where as the 68 Hemi Dart was not. He said "six pack hood scoop", not six pack carbs, but even that is wrong, it was a unique 68 Hemi hood scoop.
you know what that call reminds me of the Dodge Dart from Fast and Furious
sweeeeeet!
Some real Magnum 500 wheels in 15" would of gave it the Old school look, much better than the ghetto/ricer rims, my opinion.
Do love the steam roller rear tires! Their fit & finish on the interior was not good.
Wrecking yard hack of cutting a driveshaft, so much for high end work.
Hopefully, the new owner is happy.
He says everybody wants a 426. When these cars came out that was the fastest engine in the world. No wonder everybody wants them instead of a 383 or 318 or 340. I had a '69 Charger with a 426 and it was a very fast car with one 4 barrel carb. I can only imagine what it would do with turbos.
So Ron obviously stuck in the 80's but you don't even surprise him with RR? Just oh we got a Mopar guy.....jeez
that car is kool as a iceberg
Cool,,
Beautiful car. Shame they couldn't have put a four speed in there after all that work.
if these hemi's are so hard to get a hold of on short notice u would think they would keep one or 2 around for when they needed it .. instead of all this drama..i.m sure they could afford it..
Maybe he should upgrade from that 1970s Rollodex too. Might make finding things easier.

If memory serves, Chrysler only put the Hemi in the 68 Dart. The REALLY fast Darts ran the 440.
He loves them quadrajets don't he
wow...dude straight cuts the driveshaft, like wtf
Pretty easy to just unbolt
put a remote oil filter on it and chop the pan for clearance no problem
oh gosh when am I going to watch an episode were the car is not orange
When they all are purple... and black.
