- Barry White's reputation as an award winning hot rod builder is on the line. He has a crazy idea to recreate a '60s Stock Car - in race-trim, but street legal. And not just any Stock Car; he's asked legendary race car driver Parnelli Jones for permission to reproduce his 1964 Mercury Marauder and he doesn't want to let him down.
Normally Barry needs four weeks to transform old wrecks into auction drawcards, but this time he only has three. He's thinking a rough and ready stock car should be any easy build. Until he finds out nobody makes the parts anymore.
Adding to his worries, he doesn't have his normal team of workers and has to call in some family favors.
The speed shop is stressed to the max, so it's all hands on deck. But will everyone pull their weight?
He has two deadlines, the McCormick auction in Palm Springs, and an assessment of his work from Parnelli Jones himself.
Will he make the grade and make some money?
Before spending Sixty Thousand on a New Mustang, i would take my hard earned Money and buy this favorite 1969 Fast Back. Absolutely Beautiful. Berry does it again!!!

With him buying virtually all the cars it's really not even an auction? Only question is will someone else run the price up on him or not? Personally I would of quit bidding once I saw who it was I was up against. Let him have it cheap and then see how much Barry loves him or not? LOL, .....😂
The fire service men have done a good job, Respect for these people.

The guy I work with for years is 57 and tells me amazing stories of his older brothers 1970 stock Boss 429 he had and my friend got to ride in all the time. The Car would literally shake all the windows in his house when his brother fired it up. NO car could catch it period. It was a Hurst 4 speed and could get rubber in any gear at any time. That is the car I would like to build if given the money and time. I grew up in those times and they were as Great as you think they were.... RH DSD

Not normally a Mustang guy BUT this one turned out very nicely. LOL, you can tell how old the shows are when they start talking about the $$ spent on parts etc. 😊

my fav muscle car is a 69 mustang just like he just said this guys no what there doing and they get the job done right.
Ardell Brown the gentleman who bought the 69 mustang is a legitimate car collector and the purchase was not staged, i saw this same car in his collection 6 years later during a tv interview in 2012. he passed away in march 2018 ,some of his his collection was sold off at mecum auctions las vegas in 2018

Did you notice they had a Pope JPII's 1.1 Mk2 Ford Escort for sale in the auction, it went for $690,000! No big block no mad wheels just a great back story, think old Barry is in the wrong game, lol.

i've watched 3 espisodes of this show so far. suspension of disbelief went out of the window ... for so many reasons.

guys, plain washers behind the lock nuts, mask up painted parts to avoid damage, most builds done in a rush are a comedy of errors and a lack of attention to detail, plan your build earlier, do a rough build so you have all the parts, do an unequaled job without compromise and get top dollar for your work. big thumbs up for the fire service

The 69 mustang factory "competition " rear leaf assy at its stock height works amazing (stock for boss or shelby ,and boss larger front sway bar ) . Thicker leaf with less arc + use stagger shock plate

Beautiful car. 69 my favorite mustang. Just bought one for my wife. This summer, its my turn. The only difference, we drive them on nice days.
This show was too much gimmick and not enough getting down to business. When I watch a car build, I want to see a car build not drama that's improvised to make a show....

Ardell is dead now in fact I haven't seen any of |Barry's cars in years at the Nevada Auctions maybe he retired when Ardell kicked off.
All around nice looking car . Might have went with a standard transmission but all in all a nice unit
Yeah I would have went with a 4 or 5 speed trans
performance motor, then an automatic transmission! it makes you want to cry.
Automatic Transmissions have gotten so good now that it doesnt make sense to put a manual into it however I agree it should be manual
Actually even in the late 60s there were some really solid, race worthy auto transmissions, like Chrysler's torqueflite 727 (ate up 60hp, but returned the favor by being virtually indestructible)
Automatic transmission do perform way beter and faster than most driver ever will with a manual one... And I am not even talking about JATCO CVT... They blow your manual transmission any time.
Nowadays yes but this is just a trash torque converter auto that just transfers the power and is slow at shifting in anything but a straight line
Have to consider the probable age of the buyer, bad knees and hips. I would definitely prefer manual, but I don't have 60k to drop on a pleasure cruiser, and I don't know a single person my age who does.
Was hoping for barry to sing some classics
Back end is a little bit high but otherwise a beautiful beast and I want it and I have built several of these beauties but it took a little longer than three weeks.

Great job on bodywork! Then throw all new mechanicals at it....every single time!! The sketch guy draws something and the body shop does a great job, followed by an interior trim team! And the wheels!! 🤷🏼♂️

Right, and they had to make the stance too high so those oversize tires would clear in the back. Wrong choice of wheels & tires.

Why do they always have a deadline. They probably know the auction happening months before.
I think it was some kind of challenge thing...10 cars, 10 auctions, four weeks from wreck to finish for each effort.
He challenged himself to do 10 cars in 10 months. I agree with you though, all of these kind of shows always have a very tight deadline for no real reason. I would enjoy it just as much if they built the car over 6 months, it makes no difference to me

What's with the rear leaf springs? I though this was a "Super muscle car" and they were using 21st century parts! An upgraded rear suspension to me should include independent rear suspension! However leaf springs and a solid axle = muscle car to me too so idk!!! But I think there is deffinately a better way!

To be fair, if during a restoration the busiest guy is the “parts guy” and not the mechanics than there’s a major issue....also these muppets were welding and grinding at the same time the paint guy was polishing the paint!?!

the couple seems to be at every auction but never buy
same guy buys all the cars, most of these shows the cars end up sitting around the shop after they are supposedly sold

Agreed. those wheels look ghetto,as do the tires. Original magnum500s or classic Cragar S/S would have been a better choice. Also, should have kept the original steering wheel, and shifter. oh, and i would have added rear window louvers. other than that--awsome car!!

...but with that said, i still like a restoration to be as close as what is was, not what it would be if built today. we already have modern versions of some of the classics coming off the line...camero, callenger, mustangs are close...and fire birds coming soon. so in a restoration, i'd want what it was.

Any body know of a show that does builds like this just without all the stupid drama and "dynamic" camera angles? I found iron resurrection which is an absolutely amazing show and the builds are beyond incredible but I've watched every single episode of the 5 seasons and now I need a new show to watch. I've tried watching this but I can't deal with the fabricated drama and the ridiculous camera angles.
