Buy not buying Disney discs, the goal is actually that we do want them to stop making them. Let’s have them stop, and let someone with half a clue (Kino, Shout, Arrow) license the movies out and release them on their own.

I kinda feel Disney just do stuff like this to push people to watch it on Disney plus

I guess this will be $9.99 on Best Buy in no time but the feedback Disney will take from it is that “nobody wants physical media” when in fact nobody wants

It's a shame Disney got rid of the Fox restoration team, 'Speed', 'Alien' and 'Home Alone' looked amazing in 4K.

Disney used to be LEGENDARY for physical media. All they way back to the VHS days. They used to take SO much love and care in their products. I don’t know who is in charge of home video at Disney but they absolutely need to go

What's happened to Disney? - Their CEO changed. Bob Chapek is so horrible at his job he's actually hurt the brand and has not only estranged customers and fans but his own employees who can't stand him.

The link to the Blu-ray release instead of the 4k is such a boss move. Really hoping for Disney to get their act right

The 4K version of this looks awful on Disney+ as well, unwatchable IMO. It’s especially shameful when you consider that the original Blu-ray releases of the initial trilogy are still among the very best on the market, especially the picture quality of Dead Man’s Chest and the bonuses on At World’s End. Stuff like this won’t help these movies’ dwindling popularity and reputation. They deserve much better.

Disney should be brought to account, with reference to their 4k bluray releases, its just not good enough bringing such an inferior product to the market..this movie should have looked stunning on 4k disc, with all the stunning visuals on offer. A massive dissapointment for us 4k UHD collectors..appreciate the review.

The fact that it's two INCREDIBLE movies like Terminator 2 and now Pirates of the Caribbean CotBP that are the worst ever 4k movies released (so far) is really saddening since I would have bought both of these in a heartbeat because they are both movies that I love.

Internet: “You are by far the worst company for physical 4k transfers I’ve ever heard of.”

Am I the only one who believes if we stop buying Disney discs, instead of listening they'll just get rid of their physical media altogether? I just feel like that's something they'd do.

I remember when I started buying blu rays Disney was the gold standard of what you could expect in a new release. They were the best quality and jam packed with features. Now I avoid them like the plague. You get shitty, bare bones releases and they try to charge you an arm and a leg for them. Its sad because I would love to see the Pirates trilogy get a proper modern release. But I don't see that happening with Disney.

To think how far Disney has fallen from the Platinum Edition DVD days to this.

Your commentary/review helps us “Physical Media Supporters” make better decisions when it’s time to drop $30 for a 4K and being totally let down ☹️

Finally got a 4k blu-ray player. Appreciate you making these videos so I know what NOT to buy. Was going to go on a 4K disc shopping spree this weekend and had Pirates on the list. Nope, not anymore.

Digital Internegatives are always going to have this problem. It’s bad on two levels. First the film dailies are scanned at 2k 10bit. Second the film was shot super 35 which uses only half of the resolution of the film. The DI is finished in 2k and filmed out back onto film. These negatives are pretty useless for remaster. Typically a studio will want to use the DI files to do the remaster. The dirty little secret is that most of the studios did not archive or have bad archives of the DI. Judging by your screen grabs they chose to Uprez their current HD master, thus the reason you see so much artifacting. Remember, you can’t make something from nothing. They stretch the colors to fit into the rec2020 colorspace and have flatten them out to make them accurate. The resolution exposes the flaws, so they used noise reduction. All of this equals a bad 4k product. To do this properly would have been very expensive and lots of studios are having this problem with titles from this era.
