  • This week I show you how to get the most out of your charcoal handwarmers which put off much more heat than the common hot-hands. They make great holiday gifts, see my link below to get yourself one! If you are interested in the axes or my early 1900's cookbook please send me an email at mrdyersmusings@honorableoutfitters.com!

Wonderful show , as usual Mr. D ! Liked the artifacts! I've seen most of them the old heater can was new. I've similar, but my dad was always very cautious in showing us. He made sure to provide us with "safer" personal devices. He also checked our knowledge at the beginning and the end of each season to assure we didn't pick up any stupid habits from our friends or questionable learning sources. My sons and daughter wondered why we did the same thing, right up til the time that my3rd son got turned around on the Adirondack trail. He's always said the worst and best part of the trip was telling his Grand Father what happened. Grandpa just picked up his walking stick and the two of them headed out the door. My son was worried that he was in for a lecture, but to his amazement he and dad got ice-cream! Dad congratulated him on coming home in one piece , with all of his gear. And the hike leaders dog. He didn't panic and took care of the dog. Grandpa got them ice cream, revued the outdoors rules and confessed that he had gotten lost once and only once. His greatest fear was that one of his kids or grandkids would get lost one day. His training proved valuable, Grandpa was thrilled he and my son , Josiah went shopping to replaced the kid version of his safety gear. My Dad told Josh not to brag about his new tools , his new tools were to learn with they weren't toys. I wish that Dad was still around. You would have made him happy.
    As usual tremendous vid
    Praying as usual

This gives me an idea of making a larger foot warmer that would burn a couple briquettes.

Neat piece of kit. I have the newer ones that use lighter fuel. Never really use them unless it's well below zero. Wool gloves and pockets keep my hands warm. They get cold usually only when snowblowing. By the way if you stick it in your left shirt pocket they say it will warm your heart and thereby your blood. Don't know if it works as when it's below zero I wear a coat and plenty warm.

Great video. I should have watched it all the way through before posting my previous (now deleted) comment.

Excellent info. Cool old handwarmer, too. BTW, your charcoal stick link's out of them and says they don't know when they'll get more. However, they can be found other places, but it won't help you. 😞

I grew up in a poor household in the 70s, I can remember going to school and see a rich kid show off his pocket warmer, I waited till the middle of the lesson and asked to go to the toilet, I then dipped his pockets lol my parents ended up pawning it then while at the kids birthday party the kid’s mother was telling my mum about how someone stole her sons pocket warmer, my mum turned to me and said “remember you said you found one at school” the whole family knew I was a thief by the end of that party lol I don’t care as we all did foolish stuff as kids, surely?
