Truth be told, I might could do without Angel, but you'll have to watch and see how I feel about all of that :)
This is my ranking for the Buffyverse! Originally intended just for Buffy, but the tier list had Angel as well so I decided why not :)

Personally I liked season 7, not my fav for sure, but I think it is better than season 1 just not really enjoyable like in a fun way so I have trouble ranking it. I have a similar ranking but would probably switch 2 and 3. I love hearing everyones favorite seasons :)

Angel is my favorite all-time show, so in my opinion, your rankings are a bit off. I pretty much agree with the order though. I think I prefer season 4 of Angel to season 1. I'm surprised you rated season 6 of Buffy as highly as you did. I did like the darker tone of season 6, but the nerd trio really got on my nerves as did the Scooby Gang's refusal to take them seriously. Great video. I enjoyed watching this.
Totally respect your opinion! I tried with angel, I just couldn’t ever seem to get as into it. I also really wasn’t expecting to rank those in this vid 😂😂 But yeah season 6 of buffy just got me through a lot of dark times in my life and I really related to a lot of what happened in that season. Not that fanon myth again! Buffy was NEVER meant to finish with season 7! Never! It was just a matter of which network it was gonna be on - and UPN was willing to play more than WB.
The whole myth originated from WB being dicks and deliberately promoting the season 5 finale in such a way that made people think that it was the series finale, in order to hurt their rivals, UPN.
I really hate that myth so much especially because I HATE the idea of The Gift as the series finale so, so much. It's a great season finale , but it would have been a TERRIBLE series finale. Do people really think that a show that was meant to be about female empowerment and a girl trying to both fulfill her destiny and fight evil and have a normal life, should end with that girl dying at the age of 20, confirming the idea that Slayers must always die young and can never have a normal life?

Yeah my rankings are a bit different. Buffy is
7. Season 1 - It’s hard to get into, has aged terribly. Can only enjoy it on a nostalgic level but it makes the show hard to get into with new fans.
6. Season 4 - Agree the initiative storyline is one of the weakest which really holds this season back, but the standalone episodes are amazing as well as the addition of Anya, Tara and Spike in the arc.
5. Season 2 - A lot will disagree with this but I think this is the most overrated season. While the Angelus arc is amazing and it’s a huge step up from Season 1, the pacing is really off and it still shares the same struggles as Season 1 especially in the first half. With that said it had some of the best episodes in the series.
4. Season 7 - I don’t think it’s bad as people say it is. It starts off really strong and the last 5 episodes are amazing. It does lose its swing in the middle section but overall I think it’s quite good.
3. Season 3 - best of the high school era and one of the most consistent in terms of quality. The Mayor arc does take awhile to get going and the finale is a little anti climatic imo but there wasn’t one bad episode. The pacing was great. Introduction of Faith was great. Only flaw really is it didn’t pack an emotional punch like Season 2 did.
2. Season 6 - Dark, heartbreaking and relatable. Season 6 took a big leap and I appreciate it. The big bad being life itself was an amazing idea. Nothing really hit me like Season 6 and the Dark Willow arc was the cherry on top.
1. Season 5 - Easily the best. Has everything you want. Amazing pacing like Season 3, but also as heartbreaking as Season 2. Contains the best finale and best episode of Buffy. Glory was one of the best big Bads. This season will forever be #1. This season is peak Buffy.
Angel
5. Season 3 - Hard to get into and didn’t really care for the Holtz storyline. While there are some awesome episodes, I love Cangel and Lilah shines, I find this season hard to keep interested in.
4. Season 4 - If it weren’t for how they treated Cordy this season would be much higher but I can’t get over it. Other than that I loved how plot heavy it was. It kept me hooked. Each episode flowed like a book.
3. Season 1. Underrated as hell. I loved Doyle and it was sad to see him go. Contained some heartbreaking episodes but I love the dynamic between all three characters. Really sets up the series well.
2. Season 2 - Wolf Ram and Hart step up there game and I love it. Very existential and has some of the best episodes of the series. Big step up from 1. Not the biggest fan of Pylea but still enjoyed it.
1. Season 5 - it flipped the show on its head with its change of setting and I loved it. Not fade away is better than Chosen and in my opinion the most fitting end of the show. The second half of the season is some of the best string of TV ever. Absolutely heartbreaking and I think it rectified the wrongs of Season 4.
I put Angel and Buffy in the same tier and think they are as good as each other. I love both shows.
I think you're are judging the seasons way too much by what was happening behind the scenes or in the case of season seven by what you think was. Angel 4 has issues in it's own right some of which are related to Charisma's treatment some which aren't.
I'm watching season 2 of buffy right now which is one of my favorite seasons I also agree with you on season 7 I hated the final season but unlike with supernatural I really enjoyed the finale they were able to end it on a great note I like seasons 2 and 3 of angel 🙂🤗😀😊
Yessss Buffy Season 2!! I still was a fan of the SPN ending, but I do think Buffy had a better one haha

SPOILERS FOR BOTH SHOWS
BtVS was always going to have seven season run. It wasn't that UPN picked it up after WB dropped it, it was that WB decided not to renew their airing the distributing contract, so UPN picked the contract up, but FOX and the creators and cast always had a seven season deal. So off of those notes, Buffy was also always going to die at S5's end.
While I agree with S4's placement (although I would put it after BtVS S7 despite it having my favorite arc of the Buffyverse with Angelus), and don't like how Charisma was treated, I find it interesting that people think there would have been better options than what it ended up being without rewriting episodes and mythology that had already aired. Truly, the only differences that could have changed was letting the viewing audience know it was Jasmine all along, and not putting Cordelia in a coma. But Connor and Cordelia aka Jasmine had to be gross because Cordelia was in love with Angel at that point so she wouldn't be with anyone else and Angel couldn't have kids and already had a miracle baby with Darla. I don't know what the initial storyline was but I would guess the idea for Jasmine's entrance into the world wasn't about birth at all.
Shows everyone ranks things differently with the Buffyverse. I consider AtS a great season and
Get Write On In has it in unsure.
S1 was supposed to be episodic twists of B rated horror. The idea of female empowerment wasn't Joss's initial idea for the series (no surprise now that his true colors are revealed) even though it seems obvious and was always an underlying message. He was told he could steer it that way and took credit for the idea when people started saying that was what the show was about. But no interview before the series aired or during season one has anyone mentioning the idea of female empowerment, however you can see the message is just beneath the surface. Joss also didn't know about it as an idea for a series until Fran Rubel Kuzui came to him with the idea of showrunning his movie character, Buffy Summers.
I look at BtVS and AtS as one universe (very much like the MCU) and don't say one show is better than the other because to me it is one interconnecting universe on into the canon comics.
Including the comics of both series, my rankings of everything canon from both series is (although their can be slight changes in placement overall the general area never wavers):

I actually didn't know Buffy was always supposed to be a seven-season run! Thank you for your very thoughtful response and sharing your ranking with me as well :) I personally never got around to the comics, so I'm not sure how I'd fit them in to the overall ranking

@@randywhite3947 I don't consider it bad, just my least favorite of all my favorites. It lets you know how good BtVS is when that happens. Other people have different opinions and rankings, but this is mine.

6. Season 4 adam was a terrible big bad

4. Season 6 I appreciate this season way more as an adult love dark willow the trio were pretty weak

2. Season 2 I really enjoyed this season angelus was a great villain
1. Season 5 the show definitely should had ended here just like with supernatural season 5 even though I did enjoy some of the other seasons

season 7 is pretty good, so I don't agree with that and many other of your rankings. Angel season 3 is fantastic, dark, Shakespearean. At least you got seasons 3 and 6 of Buffy right.
2,3,6 my favourites (but i really like 5 too)
4:meh. The villain is boring, you see a lot of potential but then everything goes meh. I like the final episode now, but it was a big what the f... the first time.
7: it's not it. Atleast there are some episodes like Selfless dedicated to Anya that i love and I like the finale, but it's a bit messy and sometime inconsistent with the characters.

WOW. Its amazing how 2 people can watch the same show and have completely different takes. For me season 6 is the worst by some distance. You mentioned the theme of addiction, and yet it was terribly done in this season. Point of fact, I was never sold on Willow being addicted to magic, more that she was drunk on power. It was misery for misery's sake and the rape scene and Tara's completely needless death ruined what could have been a very good seasons.
so for Buffy the seasons for me are (from best to worst): 3,5,4,2,1,7,6
As for Angel I would rank the seasons: 3,5,2,4,1. And I only place 4 above 1 because of how much of a great arc Wesley had been going on.

I'm not sure why so many people like season 6 the trio was so bad I liked the beginning hated the middle loved dark willow it's my least favourite season in the buffyverse with Angel season 4.

A ranking I can agree with. Angel just isn't as good (or better) than Buffy like alot of Angel stans claim. I find myself falling asleep watching it lol. I also love season 6 too. Great video!

Honestly if it was my list season 4 of Buffy and season 3 of Angel would be at the bottom of this, I really hate these seasons😅 hate this strange arc when Angel moves on to Cordelia, WTF was that for🙈 and season 4 is so dull and has really just 1 jewel and it's not Hush for me - it's Restless😉 and strange enough I actually enjoyed season 4 of Angel. Not because I have something against Cordelia, frankly it sucks they killed her off, but this whole story was really interesting and shocking and it's something I like to watch even today🙂

I didn't necessarily NOT like Angel, I just had a harder time connecting to it overall
What one guy says on one UA-cam video about a TV show doesn't always mean it's to be taken as 100% fact (only when it's a history of the show or BTS footage et al). We've seen arguments about Angel season 4 time and again, how one side thinks it's genius, and the other side just wants to throw up (like me). So with a show like this, it's ALWAYS going be a different list. So commenters, when making your own tiers, don't say things like "the way the seasons are SUPPOSED to be ranked!!!" or stuff like that. He's not king of everything and neither are you.
