I love the fact we have a current MotoGP rider who is prepared to spend his down time doing this. To have his insight and easy going style explaining things is great.
Couldn’t agree more. He represents the Suzuki brand and his series of video not only share his insights and craftsmanship of riding fast, but his reference to the GSXR make it more appealing as a Motogp street bike than ever.
@Draknight high g forces are mainly increased due to air resistance, huge engine braking and braking force combined. Go and test it, or just watch the tv when motogp is on, you can see it in action.
This content is pure Gold, I hope Suzuki are watching it and appreciate the brilliance Sylvan is bringing to their brand during these tough times! Keep it up buddy 👊
Hats off to a rider who cares enough to regularly construct videos, in two languages even, and take time to explain the details of what life is like when your holding on to a 200hp machine and riding it at the very brink of crashing the thing every second of every lap. With 30 other guys next to you doing the same thing. Some leather, and a thin layer of composites as your 195mph safety net. Other manufacturers would take heed at what exactly he's doing here. Respect is earned in many ways. Rather than just selling your company as a brand like your advertising people will encourage you to do, you have to give something to the consumers that other manufacturers don't. This is being done here in a very subtle way that most people will be open to. He's sharing knowledge and communicating nothing about this years new "super anti slip rotational superfuck system", or whatever overly technical name you come up with for a system. Without selling me anything here, I am genuinely pleased with Suzuki in doing just that. Its sad it has come to that, but it has. Honestly, I never owned a suzuki, but I support any manufacturer that employs a guy that is willing to share his insights and talents with the few people who soak this information up. Thank you Suzuki but more importantly, thank you Sylvain.
Rapidly becoming my favorite YT channel. Thanks again for sharing such great insights Sylvain and looking forward to the next one. You have any other mods planned for your bike?
Sylvain, these videos are an inspiration! It's an absolute luxury to hear from someone who has the knowledge, the experience and the curriculum. Thanks so much for taking the time to do these.
A real insight into MotoGP. Sylvain is a nice guy, one of my fav. riders, unassuming, modest, dripping with riding skill and not bad looking. If the myth that French men are the best lovers wasn't a lie he'd have the full set. Thanks
As much as I want him to, I think an F1 car is far too removed from a road car that it won't have many meaningful insight, A GT race car on the other hand...
Cheers Sylvain, another great vid mate. I've learnt more watching your vids than all of the track training I've done over the last few years. Thanks again!!!
a great insight into the differences between what we ride on the roads and what we watch you guys ride on track. thank you for giving your time to explain this to us.
Thanks for making these videos. I'm not even much of a sport bike guy (riding or watching) but I really enjoy these videos and find the content interesting.
Loving these videos Sylvain, I'm learning so much without even getting on a bike! I can't wait for this virus stuff to be behind us and I can put it to good use! Greetings from Canada!
Excellent video!!! You are a natural teacher!!! Nice to hear all of these details that exist between the MotoGP bike and the street bike. Mercy for taking the time to produce this wonderful video and for sharing it with us!!!
Another quality video from sylvain and a detailed insight into the main differences in the mighty gsxr 1000 road bike and the pinnacle of a two wheeled gp machine.
Much respect, you have a very good knowledge of motorcycles and how they work as if you were your own engineer.. and you explain it in a way that's so easy to understand. Well done
You give us so much interesting information, which we don't know. I'm enjoying watching your videos! Keep us posting with news about motorcycles! Thank you, Sylvain!
Please please please take it round Donnington with slicks - and then have your suspension guy dial in the standard adjustments for you and go round again ... that would be unbelievably interesting 😀
[from New York] - Well done, Sylvain! I interviewed John Hopkins at the Shanghai Grand Prix one time and asked him this exact same question: What is the difference between my GSXR1000 and your MotoGP bike? He didn't give as good an answer as Mr. Guintoli does here! PS I also enjoyed your clip on using the rear brake. MORE! MORE!
Really interesting to hear the explanation of the differences between the bikes. Hard to imagine the thrill you would get from riding a Moto GP bike. I'm sure most of us wouldn't be able to hang onto it!
Really enjoying these videos! It would be really helpful if you did a video of the difference in riding style/racing lines between a big bike (say Motogp) and smaller bike (250 2 stroke for example).
We’ve seen MotoGP stars ride street bikes around a track (Rossi and Marquez), but it’s so refreshing to see a GP rider give a breakdown of the differences between the two.
I would guess that MotoGP tires vs stock tires would account for 2/3-1/2 of the time difference on a short track, as you know, tires make a huge difference! Great video Sylvain, thanks for sharing!
Insightful video as always Sylvain. I hope you'd discuss further the technical or mechanical differences of the gearboxes of the two bikes in a future video. I read somewhere that apart from the gears being reversed, neutral is not located between 1st and 2nd on the motogp and you need to actuate lever to get the bike into neutral.
Sylvain, I just read an interview of your 2014 team boss on gpone.com, in which he very specifically compliments you by name! He said, for sure you demonstrated intelligence and remarkable class as both a rider and a man. WOW, that's awesome! As a fan, I can also say that team boss is a nice guy and interesting to chat with.
Another great video. Slight correction: I think the OEM tyres for the GSXR are RS11s, which are street/track focused. The R11s are purely track focused. Love to see you try them and find any big difference between the two.
Love these videos! And this is a big reason I love MotoGP/SBK versus F1... What we buy is so much closer to the pinnacle of bike racing. F1 or even things like touring cars is SO far away from what we buy for the road.
It's funny as a guy who lives right in the middle of America and only hears the occasional regional accent, to hear a French guy with a British accent. Not sure but I think his wife is British, so that would have an effect. Good stuff to hear, quite entertaining and he explains it well and with enthusiasm.
Hi Sylvain. You were on the Yoshimura GSXR at Suzuka 8h. I think it would be of interest for people to know the difference between that race spec GSXR and the bike you can buy. The comparison between the Motogp bike and the GSXR was really good 😃
I spent a day at Snetterton with Sylvain and a few other BSB riders. They were brilliant, especially Sylvain hes so approachable and always always willing to chat with you...
I’m looking forward to my booked track day at Silverstone on my H2 SX...see how 200hp sports tourer compares to sports bikes! Yes, it’s a bit heavier, but more traction?! What would be really interesting would be to give Sylvain a go on it and then see how slow I am in comparison! Sylvain... you busy on June 1st??
Another interesting and informative vid, very grateful to you for taking the time to share such brilliant knowledge, keep them coming please!! Thanks 🙂🏍️👍
When I see a few many dislike to some videos of Sylvain, I really wish to know how much better those genius will be able to do this kind of videos, hope that some day they have some time to share their superior knowledge to common humans like us. Meanwhile I´m really happy and grateful to have, at least, this videos from a real World Champion on the racetrack, instead of keyboard world-assholes.
Really enjoying these videos, well done. I still think you should do a 'zero to hero, the rider' set of videos, we all have so much to learn from you and I'm only just down the road. 🤔
It’s bloody impressive as it is considering the price difference. If you could change the tyres and shock and save a couple of seconds further still then that’s amazing.
I remember the British Superbike 600cc Dickies Supersport bikes where lapping Donington faster than the 1000cc stock class because they are upgraded. There was a stock 600cc Triumph racing which was off the pace and was 2nd to last.
It's great that Sylvain takes time out to do these. I'd like to see a bit more detail if possible, like how much longer is a GP swing arm than the road bike? What are the geometry differences? Thanks Sylvain
I love the fact we have a current MotoGP rider who is prepared to spend his down time doing this. To have his insight and easy going style explaining things is great.
Totally agree, I'm addicted to these insightful videos 👌
Couldn’t agree more. He represents the Suzuki brand and his series of video not only share his insights and craftsmanship of riding fast, but his reference to the GSXR make it more appealing as a Motogp street bike than ever.
Guinters more than the vast majority of riders seems to "get it" that you have to connect with the fans in a non-patronizing, personable way.
@Draknight sorry, I don't know enough about physics. Can you explain a little more?
@Draknight high g forces are mainly increased due to air resistance, huge engine braking and braking force combined. Go and test it, or just watch the tv when motogp is on, you can see it in action.

I suspect Suzuki is very competitive bike now in MGP because of him.
You’re watching an advertisement by Suzuki. Couldn’t figure that out…? 🤦♂️
I think we've been waiting for a fast, technical MotoGP guy for a while.. well, i know i have. Thanks Sylvain.

Where else can you find priceless insights like this? Thanks a million to Sylvain for this rare gem. It's really enlightening us, the amateur riders.
"Longer, stiffer & harder". That, my French friend, is what we call a double entendre ;-)
Which ironically is French for 'double meaning'
I don't get it.
@TheRamsberg you don't get the "Longer, stiffer & harder"?
You see... that's double entendre too! 😂
Funny because never french people says double entendre this is not even a thing
