It's great that you took the time to go through all of the PO features and explain them so clearly, especially as you were new to them yourself. To quote Richard Bach, "You teach best what you most need to learn". I have the Korg Volca Keys and Sample and they are a little more sophisticated than the POs, BUT I know that the POs can be synced to the Volcas, so endless possibilities there. They are surely nifty little creative devices and so portable, rather like the Volcas (and less expensive too). Many thanks and please keep up the good work.

Has anyone noticed how when you are in play mode (write mode disengaged) and your current pattern has a bass drum in it (key #2) then the LED for bass drum stays on almost permanently as opposed to lighting up only when the sound is performed ? Is there an explanation for this somewhere ? It's visible in the video around 5:30 and until Ricky hits the Write button.
I have just discovered this tiny beast and I’m amazed by it. Your overview it’s been really helpful. Anyway I have a doubt about chords lenght. By default, any chord lasts, at least, the complete pattern. That’s 16 beats. Is there any way to change the lenght of the chords so that I can change them every 8 or 4 beats? Thanks a lot

How do you feel about this now, 4 years later?. I've never tried one but looking at it my guess is you forget how it operates and never use it again. Shit, I even forget how the buttons on my alarm clock works. Stuff like "press x twice to enter date mode" is horrid compare to a graphical user interface.
How do you apply the effect #15 blinds(gating effect) permanently? It plays over and over with the gating effect on until I stop playing it. When I hit play again after stopping the effect is gone.

Since I have a MacBook laptop and no actual interface(and I'm sort of new to music) what are some options to transfer music to my MacBook, and how do I start a new project? When I hold Chord and hit pattern, I still have the previous pattern I made.

Great tutorial. First time with a Pocket Operator (or any synth, for that matter). Pretty much copied your tune verbatim, just to follow along and make some sense of it. Highly recommend video this for anyone just starting out with the PO-20.
It says on the instruction sheet "Press sound + write to manually power off. This ensures that recent modifications to pattern data will survive a loss of power." It's in the text just below the diagram of the keyboard. Hope this helps.

Can you use the arp by itself? I’m thinking of sampling them going through a delay as nice one shots to add to a beat. But it seems to be an effect based on the pattern, is it ‘isolatable’?
Just got my arcade, first PO, delivered last night and have been messing around with it a lot. Even after reading the extended guide on the teenage engineering site, this really helped fill in some gaps. Thank you!
This is brilliant. My cousin lent me his one and the instructions are useless for actually trying to make a tune with it. This has enabled me to actually create something fun.

the volume thing is terrible, screwed up my set, needed it on mac,it fell asleep and reset, played at minimum :( otherwise it’s awesome
