That was a really good introduction. Just got one of these for my daughter and now we completely understand the fundamentals.
Thanks Mark! I’m glad I could help. Fun weekend project, make a song with nothing but sounds from the kitchen!
I’ve watched a handful of PO-12 videos. This was the best one. The only one I could watch and follow along with properly.
This is a big help to me because I just bought one of these pocket operators. Very well done and I appreciate the absolute beginner level of description as well.
Already had basic understanding of the functions within a single pattern, but this video really blew it wide open in terms of creativity, and now I'm stoked about little Popo all over again.
Thanks for a great video. I have four pocket operators that I’ve had for about two years and I just ordered the sampling ones but I really never took the time to dive in deep and this video was extremely helpful and I really appreciate it.
Excellent. Just got my first PO, this helped me out a bunch. Thanks.
So glad I just watched this. Just got a Po33 about a week ago, I've been thinking I really like the thing but it was very quiet on the sound output, would never have thought to hold bpm and then a pad to increase/decrease volume. Thanks man.
So, I bought a PO-12, and this is the first video I landed on when learning how to use it... and I was immediately like "oh crap that's the dude who just gave that sweet NI SL MK III demo last week!" Glad to see you have a channel, this video was great, and you have a fantastic presentation style.
I just got this as a gift from one of the staff from my school and your video really helped, Thanks bro you are awesome
Great tutorial, I've just got a PO12 and thanks to your tutorials I'm already using advanced features.
I just picked up a PO-12, after 9 min with this tutorial, I sent a video of my beat to a buddy who said "that's amazing". Thanks for the clear and concise explanation!
Im going to buy an used one tomorrow and your tutorial will be the first on my list! Cheers man! Loved every video of your channel!
Here’s why I love your videos Enrique... I feel like they are beautifully presented, very nicely narrated and most of all they are so “followable”.. never to I think: there’s no way I can do this or learn how to do this. You always leave me thinking I can totally improve and you make me remember it is all meant to be fun! Please keep making videos and inspiring us all!!
I agree with you on every point, Enrique's production values are very high. He would probably could be a great film maker and he would write the music as well...ditto on the inspiration!
Wow you make excellent videos and you're really efficient with how you present. Thanks a lot for covering the PO-12 too, I've had it for a couple months and I still learned some new things in this video! Nice job. Peace
Thanks TornTerrra! Glad you found them helpful
really appreciate this vid, i’m halfway thru and am feeling very attuned to my PO-12 right now
Another great video. I've got the Rhythm, Robot and Arcade and have been looking at tutorial content. Your videos stand out.. easy to digest and very helpful!
I watch quite a few of these types of videos, and you are obviously doing a good job with the form, good luck.
00:55 "...see which one's right for you". LOL, these things are dope! I;m beginning to think... all! I started with PO-33/35... Now you sold me on the 12. Have also snagged the "Sub" (PO-14), "Arcade"(PO-20), and the "Office" (PO-24). These things are truly AMAZING, and very inspirational really. And Your vids are super helpful, and you're a great teacher bro. (I have a masters in education, so I know a good prof when I see one!) You rule, P.O. Jedi Master level! Thank You. Peace.
by far the best (and in-dept) tut i have seen on this little gem!!!
Thanks for the straightforward information. Really helpful, I've learnt some new bits I didn't know. There's still loads for me to work out about these Pocket Operators I'm sure.
Love all of your videos! Super easy to watch and you look into a lot of cool gear. You should consider making more videos on how to make different types of songs or beats on different devices, especially the PO series. Would love more intermediate - expert level stuff like when you connected them to the mono station
Awesome vid, the advanced stuff is sick from 7.15!!!! Thanks for showing all those little intricacies that really open up this little machine 👌
hands down one of my fav presentations. clear and organized, thank u
Clearly the best intro/tuto on po12. Thanks a lot !
I subscribed and thumbs up as this exactly what I needed to remember how the heck this little beast works. I almost sold it because I was frustrated trying to figure it out without this video. I know I knew it but it was years ago It was a perfect refresher for me thanks so much !
well, this was more use than the instructions that come with this bad boy! Thank you so much!
Amazing, clearest picture of how these things work among all the videos and instructions out there. Camera angles really accurate and helpful, impeccable edition. This is just the best to get started with these things, not the official manual. Now I just have to decide if pick the PO-12 for simplicity or go for PO-33 which looks more versatile :)
Thank you! Glad I could help
Great job man! These pocket operators surely will become modern classics. Very cool piece of kit:)
Amazingly helpful! I’m making everyone in the family watch it so we can stop fighting about what does what!
Nice one, was making some good beats on this but the extra bits really helped. Also thanks for the volca fm / po12 video 🤟🤟
You're a great teacher.
Dope content!
I'm following.
Super good and clear tutorial. Thanks.
I read on a forum, think it was Operator one and they said you could pulse in between effects going up and down on the 1-16 depending on the model. So you essentially hold FX+15 then any value less than 15 and you can have 2 effects trigger back and forth on a 1 bar phrase. you can make it sound pretty trippy like that. There were a few other cool ones I cant remember off the top of my head.
Great video man - thanks for sharing your process in digestible videos.
It was fun doing this along with your vid. I love this machine!
I just picked one of these up. I have a collection of volcas and have been using the sample as a drum machine. I find it a bit of a slog to get a good beat going with so many sample options, so I decided I'd grab one of these as an easier drum machine. It's really good and it does a lot of things you can do with the sample but it's so much easier to make a cool sound, I don't get option paralysis. Your tutorial is very useful and much appreciated. You also come across as a really nice guy in your vids, there's no edge there that puts me off, just good, sound content.
Oh, and the quirky screens remind me of the game and watch series which makes me want to buy them all. They know how to create a product like musical crack.
Thank you very much! Just got my first po and gonna use your tricks. Greetings
Most easy to follow and methodical explanation I have watched so far ...all the others are too fast moving for me (being in my 50s!) Thumbs up, subbed.
Got mine yesterday and watched a ton of videos on the PO-12. This one is the best one yet, good looking, nice voice, perfect tempo, all important features explained. I would love to see one in the future on the Tonic or Speak, please. :)
Thanks Christian! Maybe after i blow some money on the K.O! I'll get those after ;)
K.O! interests me as well ;)
Best Pocket Operator introduction!!! Thanks!
Excellent tutorial. Thanks!
Just watched this tutorial where you mention hitting 1,000 subscribers. How time flys hey and look at you now!
Thanks so much for this mate. Excellent video.
Nice. This is becoming my go-to reference for all things P.O.
best PO tutorial I ever saw, thank u
Best tutorial of PO-12
Thanks I got a PO12 the other beginner vid didn’t show how to erase. I’m using this with a looper and a guitar I record beats to a loop sometimes I just use the sounds and loop them .I record a loop I can instantly tell how good my gate time was if it’s a double hit I just erase and loop again great stuff on your site
Damn! I've had this powerful machine in my hands for some time, and did not know how to use it properly until this video. Thanks man!!
so glad i could help!
great video. just bought one, and you have given me a great foundation.
Brilliant tutorial. Thank you
Great video. Really helpful!
Very well done review and video in general! Thanks!
I use the po12 to create a lot of my drum kits, combined with the sp404 and the effects the possibilities are endless, thx for the video man!
Hey @Daruma Beats i got the sp404sx too and how would i emulate your setup?? With cables, audio interface??
@@AstralVelvetV12 yo man, glad u like my stuff, i use a focusrite scarlett 4i4, i have a rca line out cable with left & right out going on the 1st and 2nd input of the audio interface. My daw is Ableton Live. I also connected via MIDI the audio interface with the sp404.
@Daruma Beats great, I'm waiting to cop a interface gonna get the behringer umc 404 hd, cus I got 2 dual rca to 1/4 jack cables to use rca from sp404 and the 4 1/4 jacks into the interface. That's the only way I've seen it done on dawg&sp404 videos on youtube. I'm on instagram @NoTillKlanofSeperatists I was a grower but had to take my tent down.
Have you heard? ua-cam.com/video/ojcVxXzjn7M/v-deo.html you could find some good samples
super rad helpful guide, much appreciated
13:15 1000 subscribers the month this was posted... 3 years and 4 months later... over 112k. That's pretty amazing Ricky!
First of all let me say I'm so grateful for your videos because it's easier for me to learn watching a video. One thing people keep failing to mention on all these pocket operators is how to erase a sound you've added how do you manually just go through and just delete one individual sound? I was wondering how to erase the effects which you showed great but how do you erase one sound or multiple sounds
Very easy and good tutorial! Thank you
Thank's bro...very useful! Greetings from Argentina
Excellent explanation ! Thank you.
really cool tutorial! thanks
Dude that is an amazing tutorial! Now i can start fun :D. Thanks.
Tx u so much. Really helped me getting started
Great tutorial, I just got one and this helps out a lot!
Great piece of advice. Without it I would have been lost.
I just followed along with my Po-12 plugged in and followed all your steps, and it was just awesome to make some really cool beats and sounds. Your voice and speaking style make it calm and understandable for someone like me, and I really appreciate you doing this! I have a question: what kind of cable (brand, possibly?) would you recommend for me to sync this up to a Volca Sampler (or vice versa)? I've got these old gold colored tipped cables from Radio Shack from over 10 years ago that are allowing me to play my PO's and Volca into 1/4 " slots in mixers and amps, but i wanna eventually get to synching, etc, and into a PC. Again, thank you SO MUCH!!
Your intro is so cozy ❤️
Nice tutorial!
Great vid, many thanks
Ricky you always making good stuff and the best is you sharing all your knowledge with all of us.
Gracias 🙏
Some day we should to plan a gig here in Toronto Canada 🇨🇦
How that sound to you ?
Great video. The manual is not very explanatory. But with this you got me going. Now I can annoy m wife too with endless critter rhythms... Would like to see a tutorial of it linked and in sync with the PO-24.
these tutorials are really useful i just imagined myself booping around on it for 2 weeks until i figured it out myself or completely broke it.
Great tutorial.
Hi Ricky, I just got a PO-12 and your video has been on repeat. It's helping me a lot.
What I wonder is how you get the sound on either a laptop or an external speaker. Both will sound way better.
Hope you can help.
Cheers
I didn't realize recording automation works across pattern chain. Thanks for the tip
You rock! This was great! Thanks :)
Helped me Out so much , still figuring out how to edit the last input part of the rhythm or idk have to just start over 🤔
Took me about three hours but I think I've got it down. This is easily the best tutorial on the PO12
Hardest Man In Tarot agreed!
I think you forgot to mention something. If you select a sound and let's say you program it as a step on 1 , 5, 9 and 13. For example you can hold down 1 and then use buttons A and B to change just that sound on button 1 same with the others. Or to change all at once, press Write and then use the A and B buttons. I didn't know until recently that you can also change individual keys. That makes him even more attractive. For example look this Video to understand what i mean. 【多彩で個性派】表現豊かな小さなベースシンセPO-14"sub"
Thank you!! 🤯🤯🤯
It doesn’t work, it work on po 14 bot not on the rhythm
in 13min so muck knowledge !!! Thanks Ricky !!!
Nice tutorial! Helped me a lot and I didn't have to watch a hundred times.
Fab tutorial. What would you say is the best one of these pocket series for creating hip hop drum beats?
Really excellent tutorial, really one of the best I've seen! The clear pattern + duplicate pattern is just what I've been looking for 💪
I just wanted to point out another feature I found by mistake which I thought is really cool is using the sync function as a metronome. Holding function + BPM will make the left channel click in time with the beat, and the right channel the output sound.
Super cool!!! Just got one today😀👍🔥💙
Great content and presentation. Keep up the great work hermano!
Gracias Jose! thanks for the support
I was hoping you do a tutorial on the scatter repeat function to maybe make some drill & bass patterns like "squarepusher" or "AFX"¿? Thank you!🙏✌
So helpful thank you so much!
Nice video. Thanks!
Great stuff, thank you!
perfect tutorial man
Ricky, please show your viewers how awesome the PO12 sounds thru reverb. It really is like night and day.
Wait what? 🤔 now imma try that!
I do hope he makes a video though
Thank you Enrique, now I got it!
Nice y clear
Thanks from buenos aires
Thiis is an excellent tutorial
Dude, nice framing on the shot. Very well considered.
I hope you'll publish an OP-1 tutorial once, then there's hope that I'll get that too.
Great tutorial :) thx
What do you have the unit connected to please? Thanks! Also great video 👍🏼👍🏼
Hey I think this is the easiest to understand tutorial for the P.O s, nice beats,
Flunu! thanks for watching glad you found it helpful.
I bought one when it came out, never switch it on. Guess I will bring it on the commute tomorrow for a little spin. ;)
Same here
