The resonance only works if you adjusted the filter also. I think thats why you didn't hear any difference. Great informagtive video by the way. Thanks!
Someone may have said this already, but Resonance isn't audible because the filter wasn't engaged. Resonance makes the filter sharper (accentuates frequencies around the filter cutoff point).
For deleting you need to select the SOUND/PATTERN first and then just press RECORD+SOUND (to delete selected sound) or RECORD+PATTERN(to delete selected pattern). Not sure if you can instead press RECORD + SOUND/PATTERN + 1-16. In your case it was already selected here 3:20. Anyway, need to double check. I think that's why it didn't delete at 9:42
Yeah I think you are right. I always make sure the bank of sounds or the pattern is selected before I delete now as it can be extremely annoying when you get the wrong one
This is great. Should be the first stop when learning KO. I would only add the write function for forming patterns. Hold WRITE while the pattern is playing/recording. Then manually play your notes. The only down side is you gotta play notes with one hand.
The KO has many hidden features like double triggering (holding bpm and pressing a pad). And of course the "game changer feature". There is a video on UA-cam about that.
I’m going to annoy u probably by asking a question … in a few days .. I’ve got a few machines but I need samples from stuff to add to my pro beat .. hopefully 🙏 u can help I’ll check back in a few weeks much appreciated little man ( I’m 50
@@Amonieux it's the ability to create a custom drum kit on the PO. The UA-camr "Free Beat" has made a video about that feature. It's called "5 reasons the PO-33 is still great". He shows that feature around 5:00 minutes.
Awesome series man ty. Btw found out that when u record a sound in u only need to hold record and tap the number of the bank. This changed my world... freakin hate holding buttons all over the place with my sausage fingers... can.t see a damn thing. Keep it up Blood and thank u again 💫
Excellent thanks. Small thing though; around 6’45” the business about recording/recording when using FX was a bit unclear and I’ve listened to it several times. Great stuff though all the same. Cheers. Lee
Basically you can't edit/change parameters once you've input it into the step sequencer. Its like a recorder in the sense that its set in stone and can't be undone. It remembers what you added in (including FX data, its not just a marker of where to play that sound) If you want to change the sound (e.g repitch a snare) you will have to take out the snares, do what you want to do and add them in again.
Thank you so much - this tutorial has managed to be as simple as it gets .. teenage engineering's manual was, indeed, as useful as a chocolate teapot .. again thank you for the straight forward tutorial . 🤟🫶
niiiiiiiiiiice...would you mind if I linked your PO-33 videos in my descriptions? cause your stuff's always so on point...this vid in particular is the best overview type of vid I've come across so far...well done, mate!!!
This is just what I needed. I just got one of those SP style cases and completely forgot how to delete samples. You have a great channel because I am also learning 404 mkii by watching your vids. Looking forward to 2023! Lets go
While searching for documentation, I came accross a few people that lost their POs to ESD death, meaning touching the pcb is a risk to kill the POs. So get a nice case for your POs (recomending the solid type one can get at etsy). Also using it is more relaxed that way, also the POs are typical "travel" instruments, and the cases are perfect for that, feels like throwing a pocket calculator in your bagpack. Realy, get a case. Also, if anyone ever encounters a sudden "PO death" even with a case on it, leave a comment here, would be good to know.
I've never had any issues. Had the thing years now but yeah I should probably get one! Sadly in the UK there isn't much choice though. I might just get one of the TE ones
@@spvidz Thing with ESD is, it works, until it doesn't, no in between.(as it practically never kills a passive element, but if something dies of ESD, it's the microchips) I got one of the rubbery "cases" first, but did not use the PO33 much with it. Later I bought my case of spillerphoto on etsy, they have the UK in their shipping list, sadly I can not see how much the shipping is without ordering. The cases are ok 3D prints, meaning you need a nail file to clean the thing up a little, but worth it. My version even has an integrated plastic glass screen and little rubber feet. Thx for the upload, really a nice tutorial.
everytime i sample into my po-33 it always makes my kicks/low end more crunchy than i want. any mixing/workflow tips on how to get a cleaner sound out of the po-33?
@@spvidz Thanks for the reply. I just found that making my kicks mono prior to recording them into the PO-33 and slapping on a slight low-pass filter helped me attain the level of grit I'm looking for. I just got this pocket operator and absolutely love the authentic lofi sound it produces!
Can you only sample mic recordings? Or can you sample sounds from another device? Because I would like to use this as a sound board to play sound effects at a college baseball game. Specifically I want to use cartoon sound effects and clips of Cartoon character reactions.
After I delete a recorded sample and try to record another one it tells me the time is full even though the slot is empty. Why is my device doing this.

Glad to help!
This helped out a lot other tutorials were all over the place and this was simple and easy to follow
Very glad to hear that man!
excellent mate. someone actually teaching, not just showing off. these units are so hard to learn imho
Hope it helped. Yeah they are a little tricky. If you have a break from it you need to spend time remembering all the key combinations again!
Totally agree, well done!
The resonance only works if you adjusted the filter also. I think thats why you didn't hear any difference.
Great informagtive video by the way. Thanks!
Thanks for the info! 👌
Correct
Res=resonance. It "discribes" the shape of the bell curve of the filter. If you have no filter selected there is no bell curve to shape.
Thanks man yep thats solved the mystery!
